Charles Lanier Robison Jr.
Charles Lanier Robison Jr., 78, of Holly Springs, died March 21, 2006 at his home. He was a prominent banker and landowner. A graduate of Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi Banking School, he served in the Navy during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the past president of Merchants and Farmers Bank and at his death, he served as CEO and chairman of the board of directors. He was the third generation to be affiliated with the bank. He was a member of the Mississippi Bankers Association and a member of the Holly Springs Rotary Club, where he received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Rotary Award. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs for 70 years.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on March 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on March 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Carole Coopwood Robison; two children, Charles Lanier Robison III of Memphis, Eleanor Robison Horton of Collierville; and grandchildren, Lauren Austin Robison, Charles Lanier Robison IV, Grace Ann Robison, Anna Carroll Horton and Robert Harrison Horton.

Pallbearers are Greg Taylor, Ben Seale, Gary Barnett, Jim White, Steve Bowers, Todd Grant, Sammy Bailey, Tommy Taylor, Bob Carrington, Shep Smith and Blanton Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Brown Sr., David Bennett, Jack Wittjen, Bob Crutcher, Bill York and the board of directors and employees of the Merchants and Farmers Bank.

Bill Monan Cross
Bill Monan Cross, 62, of Potts Camp, died June 14, 2005 at his home. He was a Methodist and a registered pharmacist with St. Joseph Hospital.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Flat Rock Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Leonard Howell officiated.

He leaves a son, Jeffrey Cross of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Elisa Bledsoe of Memphis, Tenn., Nichole Cross of Potts Camp; two brothers, Adney E. Cross III of South Africa, Allen Cross of McKenzie, Tenn.; Anne Wernet of Whiteville, Tenn., Allison Shores of Ashland City, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and a nephew who cared for him, Brian Chaney.

Cindy Gale Pinson Harkins
Cindy Gale Pinson Harkins, 45, of Holly Springs, died June 13, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was the widow of John (Kool Aid) Harkins and attended Holly Springs Christian Center.

Services were held at 12 noon on June 19 at Shiloh MB Church in Ashland, where she was a former member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Steven Glass Sr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Bridget Nicole Harkins of Holly Springs; a sister, Girtha Lee Richards of Holly Springs; and a brother, Joe Gene Elliott of Holly Springs.

Pallbearers were Reggie Elliott, Lenwood Richard, Raymond Mayfield, Rodney Elliott, Louis C. Boga, Walter Griffin.

William A. Highland
William A. (Cooter) Highland, 62, of Iuka, a former resident of Holly Springs, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a widower of Alene Highland, an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and a retired truck driver. He attended North Corinth Baptist Church.

Services were held at 4 p.m. on June 21 at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Burial was in Patrick Cemetery. Bro. Bill Wages officiated. Jackie Feazell gave the eulogy.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Highland; a son, Ronnie Highland of Iuka; three stepsons, Shane Bridges of Corinth, Mike Hubbard of Middleton, Tenn., Tony Hubbard of Missoula, MT.; a daughter, Vickie Leatherwood of Iuka; a stepdaughter, Tanya Parker of Corinth; a brother, Porter Highland of New Caney, Tx.; eight sisters, Pearl Barrett, Emer Gene White, Christine Cooper, Betty Ouillen, Lorene Rhodes, Anne Wiley, all of Iuka, Ruby Brown of Margerum, Ala., Mary McClung of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Bivins, Waylon Phifer, Billy Crabb, Hubert Earl Scott, Larry Steen, and Don Roach. Honorary pallbearers were James Rowland and Wayne Vuncannon.

Terry Lynn Watson Holland
Terry Lynn Watson Holland, 42, of Holly Springs, died June 15, 2005 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 18 at Mt. Newell MB Church in Red Banks. Burial was in Mt. Newell Memorial Gardens in Red Banks. Rev. Thurman Norman officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Felicia Watson of Holly Springs; two sons, Billy Holland Jr., Tavarus Holland, both of Holly Springs; two sisters, Doris Jones, Ronda Bowens, both of Holly Springs; three brothers, Earl Watson of Birmingham, Ala., Henry Watson of Jackson, James Stinson of Holly Springs; and a grandson.

Pallbearers were Boyce Watson Jr., Carlos Ford, Clarence Hollowell, Marco Watson, Elmecus Jefferson and Winston Hollowell.

Genola Hudspeth Hood
Genola Hudspeth Hood, 87, of Ashland, died July 19, 2005 in Hickory Flat. She was a retired cook.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 21 at Bluff Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Ed McCafferty officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two sons, Bobby Hudspeth of Senatobia, Billy Hudspeth of Ashland; two daughters, Betty Call, Judy Bolden, both of Ashland; a brother, Thomas Miller of Blue Mountain; four sisters, Inez Catledge of Horn Lake, Lucy King of Ripley, Sarah Collins of Hickory Flat, Lottie Lunday of Memphis, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Gene Hudspeth; and two grandchildren, Joann James and Emily Rushing.

Frances H. Moore
Frances H. Moore, 84, formerly of Holly Springs, died June 16 in Hendersonville, Tenn. She was the widow of Frank Moore.

Burial was June 18 at 3 p.m. in Memphis at Forest Hills South Cemetery.

She leaves three children, Miriam Moore of Arlington, Tenn., Diane Moore Carey of Eads, Tenn., Frank Moore Jr. of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Harley H. Muse
Harley H. Muse, 90, of New Port Richie, Fla., formerly of Hickory Flat, died June 16, 2005 at Forrest Glen Manor in New Port Richie. He was the widower of Clara Muse, a factory foreman with Deluxe Factory.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on June 25 at First United Methodist Church in Hickory Flat, where he was a member. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Hickory Flat.

He leaves a daughter, Bobbie M. Barfield of Houston, Tx.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
