William F. Anderson
William F. Anderson of Manhattan, Montana, a longtime Glasgow rancher, died of natural causes at his home on Saturday. He was 84. A memorial service is set for 11am Saturday, August 12th, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow. K&L Mortuary of Three Forks is in charge of arrangements.

William was born in 1915 in Glasgow and spent most of his life on the same ranch his parents homesteaded in the early 1900's. He also worked on the Fort Peck Dam, then moved to the Hill Ranch on Cherry Creek. He retired in 1980 and moved to Manhattan.

He married Irna Norby; she died in 1995.

William enjoyed fishing, hunting, geology and area and western history, particularly ghost towns.

Survivors include 3 sons: Wayne Anderson of Glasgow, Dennis Anderson of Cascade and Bill Anderson of Whitehall; 2 sisters: Anna Gailard of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Esther Christianson of Kalamazoo, Michigan; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Kathe Karoline Dreger
Kathe Karoline Dreger, 92, died at her home in Glasgow of natural causes on August 8th, 2000. Services will be Friday, August 11th, at 2pm at Bell Chapel with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Kathe was born in Francop, Hamburg, Germany, in 1907. She grew up near Hamburg and helped at the home business which included an orchard, bakery store and chores. She married Bert Dreger in 1931 and the following March they came to America where she lived on a farm south of Richland until she retired. Bert & Kathe moved to Dallas, Oregon, where Bert passed away in 1974. Kathe moved back to Glasgow in 1996 where she has lived with here daughter Dorothy. She was active in Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Senior Citizens Organization. She enjoyed embroidery, sewing, music, traveling, gardening and flowers. She enjoyed returning to Germany to visit relatives. She enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren accomplish their goals.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Dorothy Dreger of Glasgow and Hilda Williams of Lovell, Wyoming; 1 sister, Magda Behr of Hamburg, Germany; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Charlotte A. Hart

Charlotte A. Hart, 81, died of natural causes on Saturday, August 5th, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Services will be Wednesday, August 9th, at 2pm at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Glasgow with Reverend Martin Mock officiating and with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Char was born in 1918 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was raised an attended schools in St. Paul. She married Don S. Hart in 1945 in St. Paul. They moved to Wolf Point in 1954 and then to Glasgow in 1955, where she has resided since. Char worked at Ben Franlkin and later at Torks Drug and Valley Drug for many years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and latch hook sewing. She was a member of the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Linda Carter of Missoula; 1 son, Mike Hart of Casper, Wyoming; 2 sisters: Gerry Knutson of Egan, Minnesota, and Betty Chambers of North St. Paul, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Marcus Robert Edward "Red" Svingen

Robert Edward "Red" Marcus Svingen, 78, died of cancer at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow on Tuesday, August 1st, 2000. Services will be Friday, August 4th at 2pm at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, with Reverend Martin Mock officiating and with burial in a private cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Red was born in Frazer in 1921 and was raised in Glasgow, joining the Marines in 1942. He served in the South Pacific, landed in Okinawa on the second day, which was Easter Sunday. He later served in Korea. He married Virginia Sophia Beadle in Great Falls. They lived in Glasgow where Red was Chief Clerk with the Great Northern, and then later with the Burlington Northern, retiring in 1982. He loved hunting and fishing. His main love was good hunting. Red had a cabin on Nelson Reservoir and considered it his favorite place on earth. He especially loved his grandchildren. He was Past President of the Fort Peck Retriever Club and lifetime member of the VFW and Elks.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Svingen of Glasgow; 2 sons: Jon and his wife Lynnette of Glasgow and Robert and his wife Carolyn of Glasgow; 2 stepsons: Gordon Brown of Glasgow and Jerald Brown of Texas; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Eva Grace “Corky” McCorkle

Funeral services for Eva McCorkle will be held Thursday January 4th 2001 at the Bell Chapel with Rev. Emory Robotham officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

Eva was born December 22, 1922 in Poplar MT the daughter of Cheryl A. & Marietta Bowden Hubbard. Eva moved to Glasgow and married Hubert `Jeff ` McCorkle at Glasgow on February 17, 1940. Hubert died on April 28, 1968. Eva lived in Glasgow while married to Jeff McCorkle and then moved to Goldbar, WA. While living in Glasgow she worked at Francis Mahon Deaconess Hospital as a nurses aid.

Survivors include two sisters Betty Albus of Saco and Bobby Cameron of Florida, one brother Richard Hubbard of Florida. Eight grandchildren, Kelly Kulczyk of New Mexico, Kristie Heise of Washington, Jeff Kulczyk of Oregon, Kathy Gibbs of Idaho, Michelle Sox of Oregon, Korri Rasmussen of North Carolina, Mike and Pat McCorkle of Malta and 14 great grandchildren. Larry McCorkle and Gloria G. Sox preceded Eva in death.

John "Jack" LaBonty

John "Jack" LaBonty, 79, died of natural causes on Saturday, December 23rd, 2000 at Brendan House in kalispell. Memorial services were set for 3pm on Thursday, December 28th. Johnson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

He was born in 1921 in Munising, Michigan, and served in the Navy for 6 years. He worked for General Sheet Metal for many years, then went to work for the Flathead County Sheriff's Office in 1966 as a deputy sheriff. He retired from the sheriff's office in 1984 as a captain.

John married Viola Olson in Kalispell in 1956; she died in 1997. John was a member of the Kalispell Elks Club 725 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Music was his first love and he played drums in many combos, including the Company Brass, Big Mountain Dixie Land Band, Hungry Four and the Bus Foys Jazz Band, throughout the Flathead Valley. He was a regular performer at the Elks Club in Kalispell until 2 months ago.

Survivors include 2 sons: John LaBony of Glasgow and Dennis LaBonty of Logan, Utah; 1 daughter, Linda LaBonty-Snyder of St. Iganatius; a stepdaughter, Shirley Miller of Kalispelll; 4 sisters, 1 brother and 11 grandchildren.

Angeline Nieskens

Angeline Nieskens, 62, died on Sunday, December 24th, 2000 of cancer at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. A vigil service will be held on Friday, December 29th, at 7pm at Bell Chapel, and funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 9am at the Fort Peck Chapel in Fort Peck. Reverend Thad Kozikowski will officiate and burial will be in Bowman, North Dakota. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Angeline was born in 1938 in Belfield, North Dakota. She was raised in North Dakota and in 1957 married Francis McGee at Worland, Wyoming. She has lived at Fort Peck since 1978. She married Ken Nieskens in 1979 in Glasgow. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, painting and crossword puzzles. Angeline was an avid gardener and enjoyed socializing. She worked at the Glasgow Credit Bureau for 10 years.

Survivors include her husband Ken of Fort Peck, 1 daughter: Wanda Paisano of Elko, Nevada; 9 sisters, 2 brothers, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Lowell, in 1998.

Harold Schultz

Harold Schultz, age 69, of Fort Peck died of natural causes at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow. Vigil services will be Tuesday, Dec. 26, 7:00 PM, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Glasgow. Rev. Thad Kozikowski will officiate. Services are scheduled Thursday, Dec. 28, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mandan, ND with Rev. Patric Schumacher officiating. Burial will take place at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Bell Mortuary in Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Schultz was born in Bismarch, ND March 27, 1931 to Ted and Anna (Bacher) Schultz. Harold was raised in Fort Rice, ND. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, serving in Korea. Harold married Marlene Rebenitsch June 14, 1956 in Huff, ND. They lived in Mandan, ND until 1971 when they moved to Fort Peck, MT where they owned and operated the Fort Peck Marina from 1971 until 1993 when Harold retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, baseball, western movies and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Fort Peck; a son, Charles Schultz and his wife, Heidi, of Flaxville; a daughter, Joan Taylor and her husband, Roy, of Glasgow; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Helfrich and Betty Dillon of Mandan, ND; a brother, James Schultz of Mandan, ND. Harold Schultz was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alvin Schultz and Fred Schultz.

Evelyn Landeraaen

Evelyn Landeraaen Age: 78 died in Glasgow, Montana Wednesday, December 13, 2000 of Natural Causes at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Montana. Services will be held on Saturday December 16, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, MT. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Koonz with the interment taking place at a later date.

Evelyn was born on February 6th, 1922 in Plymouth, Iowa to parents Albin Hoydar and Clara Kuntz Hoydar. She was born on the family farm where she spent her early years enjoying life, working hard, and fostering friendships that lasted well into her adult life.

After the sale of the farm, she and her parents and her two younger sisters moved westward, eventually settling in Oakland, Calif. She worked many years at a downtown department store, enjoyed trips to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Hawaii with close girlfriends. Her single days ended when she met Andor Landeraaen on a blind date and they were later married on September 7th, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oakland, Calif. Her life's desire had always been to be a wife and mother and she fulfilled that for 44 years. During some of those years, she worked as an administrative assistant for a nursing home in Hayward, Calif. The rest of the time she was devoted to her family and friends, enjoyed gardening, loved baking, camping, trips to Reno, and being grandma to her grandchildren as well as to her friends children.

She is survived by her husband, Andor Landeraan, daughter-in-law Valerie, two grandchildren, Morgan and Hannah of Scobey, Mt. Two sisters, Shirley Washam, of Brookings, Oregon and Claral Kellogg and family of Auburn, Calif. Four nephews in Oregon and Calif., and many friends.
