Mrs. Doris T. Moore

ALTAMAHAW - Mrs. Doris Tickle Moore, 64, of 3028 Cherokee Drive, died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, April, 6, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after eight years of failing health, two days critical.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Bobby Gerald Moore, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Turner Tickle and Mrs. Mary Hudgins Tickle, both deceased. She was employed by Monarch Hosiery for 20 years and was later employed by Glen Raven Mills. She was a member of Altamahaw Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Jean Coble Russell of Madison Heights, Va.; a son, Mr. Barry T. Coble of Elon College; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Laura Blackwell, Mrs. Amy Shaw and Ms. Tammy Moore, all of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Javey Hall and Mrs. Albert Austin, both of Altamahaw, Mrs. Carlton Murray and Mrs. Allen Simmons, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Billie J. Collins of Chapel Hill; five grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Kenneth Coble.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Altamahaw Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Michael Johnson, former pastor, and the Rev. Stephen Hicks, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of a sister, Mrs. Sallie Hall, 3083 Cherokee Drive, Altamahaw.

Mr. Bonnie J. Myatt

SPRING LAKE - Mr. Bonnie Joe Myatt, 58, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his home.

He was the husband of Mrs. Janice Hall Myatt, who survives, and the son of Ms. Josephine Myatt, who survives. He was co-owner of Windsor-Myatt Mechanical Contractors.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Willow Springs include three sons, Mr. David Myatt of Lillington, Mr. Dale Myatt of Graham and Mr. Danny Myatt of Spring Lake; a daughter, Ms. Gwendolyn M. Welch of Spring Lake; three sisters, Ms. Marie M. Matlock of Hope Well, Va., Ms. Linda M. Anderson of Willow Springs and Ms. Sue M. Barbour of Raleigh; two brothers, Mr. Billy Myatt of Lillington and Mr. Garry Myatt of Angier; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel in Lillington by the Rev. Art Tatum and the Rev. Jay Wagnor. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery in Angier.

The family will be at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mrs. Anne B. Conklin

GREENSBORO - Mrs. Anne Busick Conklin, 82, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Wesley Long Hospital.

A native of Guilford County, she was the wife for 62 years of Mr. Harvey M. Conklin, who survives. She worked as an optician for Dr. Robert J. Echerd for 28 years and was a member of Liberty Wesleyan Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Ms. Raynita C. Kivett of Kannapolis; two sons, Mr. Dale LeGrande Conklin of Greensboro and Mr. Delano M. Conklin of Burlington; two sisters, Ms. Opal Westbrook of Browns Summit and Ms. Margaret Nursey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Mr. Russell Busick of Browns Summit; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Wesleyan Church in Summerfield.

The family will be at the church following the service.

Mr. John W. Frank Jr.

BURLINGTON - Mr. John W. 'Boats' Frank Jr., 77, of 3575 Garden Road, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at his home.

A native of Anson County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sandra Frank, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Wesley Frank Sr. and Mrs. Etta Bowman Frank, both deceased. He was a retired federal contracting officer and formerly worked at Western Electric.

He was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge 721 AF&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Greensboro and a member of Amran Temple of Raleigh. He was a member of Burlington Shrine Club where he was a former chairman for the Crippled and Burned Children's Hospital. He was a member of the Alamance Senior Golf Association and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Haw River and the Lila Harder Sunday School Class.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include one daughter, Mrs. Vickie Boggs of Haw River; one son, Mr. Jeffrey Frank of Raleigh; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sherrin Hecht and Mrs. Susan Peters, both of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one stepson, Mr. William Colley of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Robert ('Lil') Scott of Elon College, Mrs. Ione Squires of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Frances Moser of Archdale; one brother, Mr. Lee Frank of Chicago; three grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Haw River by the Rev. Richard Poindexter, pastor, and the Rev. M. Kenneth Wilson. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children, c/o The Amran Temple, 11101 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27614.

Mr. Jimmy R. Clayton

GRAHAM - Mr. Jimmy Russell Clayton, 53, of 4656 Cedar Cliff Road, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 1998, at the home of his sister, Ms. Rebecca Collins, 1321 Granville St., Burlington, after 18 months of failing health, two months critical.

A native of Person County, he was the son of Mr. Bert Coleman Clayton and Mrs. Dora Crabtree Clayton, both deceased. He was former owner of the Car Shop Food and Dairy. He was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge and a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Burlington Assembly of God.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sherri Moore of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca C. Collins and Mrs. Patsy C. Duffer, both of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Richard C. Clayton of Burlington and Mr. Billy M. Clayton of Haw River; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by Dr. Howard Thompson, pastor of Burlington Assembly of God. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 7:30 this evening, and at other times at the home of a brother, Mr. Richard Clayton, 809 Parkwood St., Burlington.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216-2122.

Mr. Sylvester Murray

GRAHAM - Mr. Sylvester 'Ves' H. Murray, 81, of 135 Webster Road, died at 10:28 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after an illness of three weeks.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Cooke Murray, who survives, and the son of Mr. Clyde Murray and Mrs. Lou Dora Loy Murray, both deceased. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, where was a former deacon and trustee and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Parrish of Greensboro, and Mrs. Jim (Hallie) McCulloch and Mrs. Ken (Lillie) Robbins, both of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Luther Murray of Burlington and Mr. Joe Murray of Elon College.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Larry Janey, pastor of Belmont Baptist Church, and the Rev. Willard Janey, supply pastor, Graham Friends Church. Burial will be in Belmont Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Andrew Scarborough Jr.

RALEIGH - Mr. Andrew Goodwin Scarborough Jr., 69, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, after four years of failing health.

He was born April 18, 1928, in Eagle Rock. He was the husband for 50 years of Mrs. Jean Daniel Scarborough, who survives, and the son of Mr. A.G. Scarborough Sr. and Mrs. Mavis Richardson Scarborough, both deceased. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career was in the audio-visual field: 12 years with Bell & Howell in Chicago; 24 years with Stone's School Supply in Raleigh; and with Camera Corner, headquartered in Burlington. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and was an active member of North Ridge Alliance Church in Raleigh.

Survivors other than his wife include three daughters, Ms. Judith Baker of Charlotte, Ms. Andrea Coghlan of Winfield, Ill., and Ms. Nancy Jo McKinnis of Point Harbour; one brother, Mr. Robert E. Scarborough of Winston-Salem; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North Ridge Alliance Church.

The family will be at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoor Road, Fourth Floor, Raleigh, N.C. 27612, or to the Building Fund of North Ridge Alliance Church, 7601 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27615.

Ms. Viola Garrison

GRAHAM - Ms. Viola Garrison, 80, of 508 W. Harden St., died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Brian Center in Yanceyville after a long illness.

A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Mr. William Lee Jefferson and Mrs. Annie Warren Jefferson, both deceased. She was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Shelby Campbell and Mrs. Joe Clark, both of Burlington, Mrs. Maxine Joyce of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Christine Pugh of Marietta, Ga.; two sons, Mr. Wayne Lambert and Mr. Monroe Lambert, both of Reidsville; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Dyson and Mrs. Lillie Mae Barts, both of Reidsville; one brother, Mr. Woodrow Jefferson of Reidsville; six grandchildren; and nine-great-grandchildren.

McClure Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

Mr. Arnold L. Carter

YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Arnold Lee Carter, 58, of 1073 U.S. Hwy. 158 East, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro after several years of failing health.

Born July 19, 1939 in Rockingham County, he was the son of Mrs. Alice Matlock Carter, who survives, and the late Mr. Cable George Carter Sr. He owned and operated Carter's Used Auto Parts and attended Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his mother of the home include two brothers, Mr. Luke Carter of Yanceyville and Mr. C.G. Carter Jr. of Mebane.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Mark Smith.

The family will be at Marley Funeral Home Inc. in Yanceyville from 7 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Romulus Graves

BURLINGTON - Mr. Romulus Scott Graves, 61, of 2568 E. Simpson Road, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of one month.

A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Marva Faye Baynes Graves, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Wilma Phillips Graves, who survives, and the late Mr. Henry Graves Sr. He was a retired employee of AT&T. He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics. He was past president of the Pioneers, AT&T affiliation. He was a member of Jones' Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Reidsville include a daughter, Miss Cynthia Graves of Charlotte; two sons, Mr. Michael Graves and Mr. Harold Graves, both of Mebane; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Robin W. Cotton of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Enoch, Ms. Rebecca Graves, Ms. Virginia Graves and Mrs. Betty McLaughlin, all of Reidsville, and Mrs. Mary Baldwin of Maryland; four brothers, Mr. Harman Graves and Mr. Jerry Graves, both of Reidsville, and Mr. Henry Graves Jr. and Mr. Casper Graves, both of Maryland; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jones' Cross Roads Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Woods, pastor, and the Rev. Coslow E. Holt Jr. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. William Allison

BURLINGTON - Mr. William Charles 'Bill' Allison, 56, of 1719 Payne Road, died at 9:23 a.m. Friday, April 10, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill from injuries received in an automobile accident.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mrs. Mable Pope Allison, who survives, and the late Mr. Melvin Lee Allison. He was an employee of J.M. Holt Construction Company and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his mother of Burlington include a daughter, Mrs. Kelly Offutt of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Janice Pope of Matthews; a brother, Mr. Darrell Allison of Franklinville; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Bible Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Richardson, pastor. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington from 6 to 8 Sunday evening, and at other times at the home of the mother, 908 Avon Ave., Burlington.
