Mr. Edsel H. Sellars

YANCEYVILLE - Mr. Edsel Hazel Sellars, 74, of 4672 Badgett Sisters Parkway, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Va.

Born June 14, 1923, in Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Celester Badgett Sellars, who survives, and the son of Mr. Walter Sellars and Mrs. Mary B. Sellars, both deceased. He was a former employee of Watlington Farm Supplies as a truck driver.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include three sons, Mr. Stanley Bernard Sellars, Mr. Andre Sellars-Bey and Mr. Kelvin Wendell Sellars; a sister, Mrs. Louise Dow of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Wilbur R. Clayton

GRAHAM - Mr. Wilburn R. Clayton of 2471 Whispering Hills Road died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Joseph S. Koury

GREENSBORO - Mr. Joseph Stephen Koury, 72, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Born April 21, 1925, in Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Linda Josephine Thompson Koury, and the a son of Mr. Naoum William Koury and Mrs. Victoria Koury, both deceased. He attended Blessed Sacrament school and graduated from Broad Street High School, both in Burlington. He attended Elon College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He began his real estate career more than 45 years ago.

Survivors include four daughters, Ms. Kelly Koury Harrill, Ms. Lisa Koury Simpson, Ms. Ashley Koury Vanore and Ms. Stephanie Lynn Koury, all of Greensboro; two sisters, Ms. Dolores Koury Mack of Mooresville and Ms. Josephine Koury Zoghby of Mobile, Ala; a brother, Mr. Edmund William Koury of Greensboro; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Yvonne Koury Salloum.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A private burial will follow.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 438 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27401; or to the Mayfield Nursing Home, 1315 Greensboro Road, High Point, N.C. 27260.

Mr. Wilbur R. Clayton

GRAHAM - Mr. Wilbur Ralph Clayton, 54, of 2471 Whispering Hills Road, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at his home.

A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Rita Clapp Clayton, who survives, and the son of Mr. Wiley Van Clayton and Mrs. Lessie Rudd Clayton, both deceased. He was a used car sales manager for Dick Shirley Chevrolet for more than 32 years. He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School and attended Alamance Community College. He was a member of Quarry Hills Country Club, The Legion of the Burlington Moose Lodge and the Senior Golf Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Christ Church and attended Baptist Temple.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. Brock Lamar Clayton of the home; a daughter, Miss Kristen Shea Clayton of the home; a brother, Mr. Thomas Clayton of Yanceyville; and six sisters, Mrs. Mamie Hinkle of Graham, Mrs. Arlene Massey and Mrs. Alma McKinney, both of Burlington, Mrs. Lena Byrd of Yadkinville, and Mrs. Catherine Hamlett and Mrs. Shirley Wilkins, both of Yanceyville.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. James Clayton; and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Walker Truitt and Mrs. Doris C. Travis.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Janey, pastor of Belmont Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

Employees of Dick Shirley Chevrolet will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Mr. Frank Kivett

CLEVELAND, Ga. - Mr. Frank Kivett, 48, of Cleveland, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a short illness.

A native of Greensboro, he was the husband of Mrs. Patsy Kivett, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Clark Kivett and Mrs. Hassie Lineberry Kivett, both deceased. He was a 1967 graduate of Southern Alamance High School. He had lived in Cleveland for a number of years. He was a member of Mount Yonah Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his wife of Cleveland include two daughters, Ms. Kristy Kivett and Ms. Katy Kivett, both of Cumming, Ga.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday at Barrett Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland by the Rev. Doug Merck. Burial was in Mount Yonah Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Lois M. Rainey

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Lois Massey Rainey of 2605 Gwynn Road, died Thursday, March 5, 1998.

The Rev. John A. Flood

GRAHAM - The Rev. John Augustus Flood, 71, of 4053 N.C. 54, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after four years of failing health, one month critical.

A native of Calhoun County, Ala., he was the husband of Mrs. Ruby Comer Flood, who survives, and the son of Mr. William S. Flood and Mrs. Eva Vann Flood, both deceased. He was retired from Culp Weaving and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist minister for 30 years and attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Roy C. Flood of Graham; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Rice of Graham and Mrs. Juanita Bradburn of Blue Ridge, Ga.; two brothers, Mr. William S. Flood Jr. of Burlington and Mr. Jimmy C. Flood of Graham; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Dallas Brown, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Rev. D.W. Smith, retired minister. Burial will be in Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Leon Bellamy Jr.

BURLINGTON - Leon Bellamy Jr., infant son of Mr. Leon Bellamy Sr. and Mrs. Tameka Janeen Keeling Bellamy, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was a native of Alamance County.

Survivors other than his parents of 813 N. Fisher St., include a sister, Miss Leola Bellamy of the home; maternal grandparents, Mrs. Denise Henderson and Mr. Geffrey Henderson, both of Chicago; paternal grandparents, Mrs. Leola Bellamy Brown of Burlington and Mr. Leon Fritzgerald of Chicago; and paternal great-grandparents, Mrs. Viola Bellamy and Mr. John Bellamy, both of Chicago.

McClure Funeral Service of Graham is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

Mr. Wayne W. Holman

MEBANE - Mr. Wayne Walker Holman of 4618 U.S. 70, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Gwendolyn Mitchell Holman, who survives, and the son of Mrs. Cleo Josephine Holman, who survives, and the late Mr. Joseph Walker Holman. He was a machinist at Dixie Yarns and was a member of White Cross AME Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and mother of Mebane include a son, Mr. Corey Wayne Holman of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Temeka Holman Hinnant of Chapel Hill; seven brothers, Mr. Larry B. Holman, the Rev. Donald Holman and Mr. June M. Holman, all of Mebane, Mr. Percy L. Holman of Newark, N.J., Mr. James D. Holman of Savannah, Ga., Mr. Linwood Holman of Durham and Mr. Terry Holman of Greensboro; four sisters, Ms. Jo Ann Holman of Germany, Mrs. Pegg H. Atwater of Mebane, Mrs. Glenda H. Johnson and Mrs. Shelia H. Long, both or Durham; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at White Cross AME Church by the Rev. Milton Battle, pastor, and the Rev. Clyde Long Jr. Burial will be be in the church cemetery.

The family will be be at Sharpe Memorial Chapel from 7 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
