Buddy Robinson
GROVER - Mr. Buddy Robinson, 43, of 105 Rountree Road, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was employed at Wilco Travel Plaza in Blacksburg, S.C., and was formerly employed at Minette Mills in Grover. He was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Grover.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Stokes Robinson of Grover; his parents, Jimmy and Jeannette Bolin Robinson of Grover; two daughters, Amber Robinson and Rachel Robinson, both of Grover; two sisters, Gail Robinson of Grover and Joyce Houser of Gastonia; and a grandson, Brandon Robinson.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Grover Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nancy Mugford officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his parents, Jimmy and Jeanette Robinson, 209 N. Main St., Grover.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights, Shelby, N.C. 28150 or to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 307 Cleveland Ave., Grover, N.C. 28073.

Albert "Gene" Meadows
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mr. Albert Eugene "Gene" Meadows, 62, of 2206 Forest Hills Court, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg, S.C., with the Rev. Barron Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at White Columns Funeral Home in Blacksburg and at other times at the home of a son, Greg Meadows, 315 Ike Lynch Road, Dallas.

Wendell Phifer Sr.
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Wendell L. Phifer Sr., 84, of 807 W. Mountain St., died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Campbell and Minnie Ware Phifer. He was a lifetime member of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church, where he was a Deacon and elder, and Sunday School treasurer for over 40 years. He was a member of Ben's Knob Beagle Club of Cleveland County and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in WWII. He was former owner and operator of Phifer Hardware Company of Kings Mountain for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Crawford Phifer of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Wendell L., Jr. and Charlene Phifer of Denver, Co. and Robert C. and June Phifer of Kings Mountain; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Marriott and Bess Phifer, and Menzell and Polly Phifer, all of Kings Mountain; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris A. and Ed. Sellers of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Rodney Jenkins and Cheryl Jenkins, both of Kings Mountain, and James D. Phifer and Melissa D. Phifer, both of Denver, Co.; and five great-grandchildren, Victoria Jenkins and Ethan Jenkins, both of Kings Mountain, and Heather Phifer, Brittany Phifer, and Courtney Phifer, all of Denver.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Doug Petersen officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home.

Kezia Robertson
BESSEMER CITY - Mrs. Kezia Evans Robertson, 64, of 704 Hwy 161, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Century Care in Gastonia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Eddie Evans Sr. and Hannah Callahan Evans.
She is survived by son Leonard M. McMullen, daughters Christian K. Wilson, Doreen P. Tyler, and Christina Robertson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Washington Missionary Baptist Church in Waco.
The family will receive friends for one hour before the service at the church.
Withrow's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William "Bill" Gainey
SHELBY - Mr. William "Bill" W. Gainey, of 218 Fairway Drive, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be handled by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Bennett Smith, Jr.
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Mr. Bennett Alexander Smith, Jr., 85, of 8105 S. Federal Highway, Apt. 501, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Harris Funeral Home of Kings Mountain.

Willie Fredrick
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Willie Fredrick, 82, of 352 Webb Church Road, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Thompson Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Forest City.

Shirley Wells
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Shirley Randolph Wells, 41, of 305 Silver St., died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at her home.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Randolph and Carrie Turner Randolph. She was a member of Family Worship Center Church of God in Kings Mountain and a former employee of Kemet Electronics, Shelby.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Donald G. "Don" Wells of the home; a stepmother, Shirley Randolph of Gastonia; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Amy and Michael McKinney of Shelby and Kimberly Wells of Grover; three brothers, James Randolph, David Randolph and Danny Randolph, all of Gastonia; two sisters, Nancy Clemmer and Linda Hayes, both of Gastonia; and four grandchildren, Katlyn McKinney, Alexander McKinney, Cori Thrift and Abbie Moss.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Family Worship Center with the Rev. Roger Woodard officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Marshall and Ethel Wells, 700 Bridges Drive, Kings Mountain.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Julia Twitty, 78, of Route 4, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Thompson Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.

W.W. "Bill" Gainey Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. William Walter "Bill" Gainey Jr., 81, of 218 Fairway Drive, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born December 14, 1918, in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late William Walter and Ethel Cole Gainey. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during World War II. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill and was owner of a certified public accounting firm in Charlotte before becoming corporate treasurer of Dover Textiles Inc. in Shelby in 1968. He served on the board of Hospice of Cleveland County, the Salvation Army and the Shelby Rotary Club. He was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class at Central United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. He was a current member of the board of directors of the Dover Foundation, having served as treasurer for 32 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin sons and a sister, Margaret Gainey.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret "Peggy" Rogers Gainey of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Gainey Faust of Charlotte and Patricia Ann Gainey of Winston-Salem; a son, William Walter Gainey III of Morganton; two granddaughters, Debra Faust Capps of Waxhaw and Cindy Lee Faust of Charlotte; and two great-grandsons, Austin Richard and Alexander Lee Capps of Waxhaw.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Revs. Carl Johnson and Priscilla Walker officiating.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
Pallbearers will be Hoyt Q. Bailey, Harvey B. Hamrick, Bill Horn, Jack Isaacs, Bobby Smith, and J. Linton Suttle Jr. Members of the Shelby Rotary Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the fellowship hall at Central United Methodist Church and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, N.C. 28150; Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, N.C. 28150; or to the Salvation Army, 305 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, N.C. 28150.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Mr. Bennet Alexander "B.A." Smith Jr., 85, of 801 S. Federal Highway, Apt. No. 501, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dale Swofford officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Harris Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Greene
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Elizbeth Adeline Jolley Greene, 82, of 219 Acorn Park Drive, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Spartanburg County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Hoover and Nora Timmons Jolley. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Biggerstaff.
She is survived by her husband, Baxter A. Greene of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lowell and Martha Greene and Jimmy Greene, all of Shelby; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Anita and James Stegall of Supply; a brother, Troy Jolley of Sulphur Springs, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Denita Greene and Rhonda G. and Phillip Poston, all of Shelby, Dee Dee and Kevin Jones of Montana, Angie Hope of Supply, and Kim and Tim Parra of Belmont; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Morris Byers officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Chruch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Harrelson Funeral Home.

Hazel Sanders-Armstrong
BALTIMORE - Mrs. Hazel Sanders-Armstrong, 66, formerly of Lincoln County, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The funeral was May 13, 2000, at New Mount Hebron Baptist Church with the Rev. Kirk Jackson Sr. officiating. Burial was at Loudon Park Cemetery.
Howell Funeral Home of Baltimore was in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice Cabaniss
SHELBY - Mrs. Beatrice White Cabaniss, 88, of 2315 Chatfield Road, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Asbury and Mary Ann Blanton White. She was a retired nursing assistant from Cleveland Memorial Hospital with 23 years of service. She worked at Cleveland Cloth Mill for 20 years prior to the hospital.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Obrien White and Farris White and a sister, Margaret White.
She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Cabaniss Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, M.D. and Joann Cabaniss and Robert and Annette Cabaniss, all of Shelby; two sisters, Roberta Eaker and Vergie Farris, both of Kings Mountain; two grandsons, Scott Cabaniss of Kings Mountain and Tony Cabaniss of Shelby; three granddaughters, Cindy Thompson of Kings Mountain, Kim Fitts of Gainsville, Ga., and Jan Jenks of Shelby; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Bridges and Russell Fitts. Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church Building Funds, 525 W. Zion Church Road, Shelby, N.C., 28150.

Robert Cabaniss
SHELBY - Mr. Robert Cabaniss, 64, of 2317 Chatfield Road, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son the late Beatrice White Cabaniss. He was employed at Doran Textiles, LLC and formerly worked at Glen-Raven Mills in Kings Mountain. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Hawkins Cabaniss of the home; his father, Malcolm D. Cabaniss Sr. of Shelby; a son, Scott Cabaniss of Kings Mountain; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Clay Thompson of Kings Mountain; a brother, M.D. Cabaniss Jr. of Shelby; and three grandchildren, Sherri Cabaniss, Jason Cabaniss and Heather Thompson, all of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. Russell Fitts officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Julie Twitty
RUTHERFORDTON - The Rev. Julie Mae Twitty, of Route 4, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Amos and Carrie Lynch Miller. She was associate minister of Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Rose of Sharon, O.E.S.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Rob Roy Staley and Chester Miller officiating.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Brothers Funeral Home.

David Risha Sr.
GASTONIA - Mr. David Michael Risha Sr., 56, of 910 N. Broad Street, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick Latta officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and other times at the home of a brother, Joseph Risha, 2443 Sandhurst Court, Gastonia.
