GASTONIA - Mrs. Addie P. Thomason, 102, of 2705 Crawford Avenue, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Gastonia, with the Rev. Theodore Armstrong officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery in Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Warlick
CLOVER, S.C. - Mrs. Pauline Mace Warlick, 83, formerly of Clover, S.C., died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Easley Baptist Hospital in Easley, S.C.
A native of Casar, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Mimie Buff Mace. She was an elementary school teacher for ten years and owned and operated Warlick's Department Store for fifty years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Warlick, Jr.
She is survived by three sons, John Thomas Warlick, III, M.D., of Gastonia, Frank Mace Warlick of Charlotte, and Hal Jarome Warlick of Pickens, S.C.; one sister, Sara Hazel Beam of Casar; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clover First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jody Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetary in Casar.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Bryce Kesterson
FOREST CITY - Austin Bryce Kesterson, 3-month-old son of Jillian Kesterson and Kelly Adair of Forest City, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at the home of his mother, 3170 Hudlow Road.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Ross Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Godfrey officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Raleigh McMellion
SPINDALE - Raleigh Clinton McMellion, 66, of 125 Montana St., died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Boyd Lattimore, Marlie Hicks and Dale Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crowe's Funeral Home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - John Bess, of 512 N. Watters St., died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home.

Bertha Wright
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Bertha Dover Wright, 83, of 409 Dixon School Road, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Martin and Clara Blanton Dover. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Wright.
She is survived by one son, Eugene Wright of Kings Mountain and one sister, Geneva Dover, of Lincolnton.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Pete Grigg and David Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.

Douglas Stoll
KINGS MOUNTIAN - Douglas "Doug" Lee Stoll, 42, of 100 Green Acres, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cocoa Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late James Stoll, Jr. and Daphne Lee "Billie" Lamb Stoll. He was a member of New Beginnings Church of Jesus Christ and a graduate of East Carolina University. He was employed by NVR, Clover, S.C.
He is survived by one step-son, Rodney Hunnicutt of Shelby; three brothers, Ken Stoll of Shelby, and James M. and Rodger Stoll both of Kings Mountain; and one sister, Melissa Stoll Bolten of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Revs. James Richardson and David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Mary Ward
STATESVILLE - Mrs. Mary (Connie) Ward, 80, died Friday, July 16, 1999, in Bryson City.
A native of Taylorsville, she had been a resident of Statesville for more than 52 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Flora Lee Gwaltney Echerd and was a retired registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Guy Ward.
She is survived by two sisters, Eugina Perkins of Greensboro and Lucy Echerd of Taylorsville; one brother, John Echerd of Ooltawah, Tenn.; two daughters, Ann Lowery of Conover and Pat Holland of Boiling Springs; and one grandson, Mike Bailey of Boiling Springs.
Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Statesville and are being arranged by Crisp Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, or to Davie Avenue First Baptist Church in Statesville.

John Bess
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Lloyd Bess, 74, of 512 N. Watterson St., died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Rainey and Sara Bess. He retired from Burlington Industries. He was a member of Vestibule AME Zion Church.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Deforrest Bess and John Lloyd Bess Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria M. Bess; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Shirley Bess of Charlotte; one daughter, Gale T. Bess of Gastonia; one sister, Ethel M. Bess of Kings Mountain; two brothers, William K. Bess of Jersey City, N.J. and Robert Bess of Dallas; grandchildren and spouse, Natavian Gill of Cherryville and Shaun and Sherri Grier of Gastonia; two great-grandchildren; two uncles, Ulysess Saddler of Shelby and James Saddler of Blacksburg, S.C.; one aunt, Ida Wray of Kings Mountain; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Vestibule AME Zion Church with the Rev. Clarence C. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 30 minutes before the service.

Ressie Adams
BESSEMER CITY - Ressie Valentine Adams, 91, of 622 E. Lee Ave., died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Mission Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry McClure and Dr. Ron Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Westside Chapel at Greene Funeral Service.

Joseph "Stone" Panther
SHELBY - Mr. Joseph "Stone" Andrew Panther, 71, of 108-A Connie Lane, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at his residence.
He was a native of Cleveland County, the son of the late Joseph Martin and Lincie Howard Panther. He was a retired sales manager. He was a Mason and an Oasis Shriner. He was a Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Panther; and one sister, Sarah Olsen.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia and Baxter Carpenter of Ellenboro, Myra and Allen House of Deluth, Ga., Rita and Bob Gaither of Newark, Ohio and Jill and Chip Hathcock of Charlotte; two brothers, Martin J. Panther of Spartanburg, S.C. and Bronson Panther of Columbus; one sister, Betty Baldwin of San Antonio, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lattimore Baptist Church with Rev. David Hobson officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times at the home of Baxter and Shelia Carpenter, 157 Crestfield Drive, Ellenboro.

Earl White
LOWESVILLE - Mr. Earl Baxter White, 76, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at his residence.
He was born October 16, 1922 in Rutherford County, the son of the late Mel and Lucy Hyden White. He was a Navy veteran who served in World War II. He was employed by Leaksville Woolen Mill and retired from Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorene Cogdill White; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Michael "Pete" and Brenda Sue White of Walnut Cove and Lonnie Ray White of the home; one grandson and his spouse, Steven James and Brenda Kay White of Walnut Cove; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Paige White and Victoria Dawn White; one brother, Howard White of Shelby; one half-brother; two half-sisters; and two stepsisters.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jan Heermans officiating. Burial will follow at Martha's Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Almond, Raymer and McConnell Funeral Home in Huntersville.

Ozell Greene
SPINDALE - Mrs. Ozell Beam Greene, 73, of 103 Maple St., died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be tonight at 6 at Spencer Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Vaughn, Kelly Tobias, Malone Thomason and Larry Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight after the service at the Family Life Center at the church.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Glendora B. Childers, 76, of 131 Dixon School Road, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

Charles Tipton
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. William Charles Tipton, 66, of 110 Freeman Road, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney.
A memorial service will be tonight at 7 at Harrelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Hensley officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Norman White
SHELBY - Mr. Norman John White, 78, of 1136 S. DeKalb St., died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Greene County, Ga., he was born on November 8, 1920, the son of the late James Norman and Addie Oats White. He was retired from Lily Mill after 41 years of service. He was a fixer. He was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church where he was a deacon, the custodian and a member of the building and grounds committee.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, James White; one brother, Bonnie Plato White; and one sister, Ruth Crow.
He is survived by his wife, Essie Dale Tesseneer White of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Geraldine White and Kenny and Donna White, all of Shelby; one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Don Allen of Shelby; one brother, Carl White Jr. of Shelby; two sisters, Pauline Tesseneer and Nell Bowen, both of Shelby; six grandchildren and two spouses, BriAnne Allen, Scott and Leslie White, Chris and Susan White, Miley White, Sally White and Lance White, all of Shelby; and two great-grandchildren, Alan Watts and Ashley White.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lily Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Arnold officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Palmer Mortuary.

Mial Putnam Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. Mial Benjamin Putnam Jr., 53, of 2914 Waterside Dr., died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Mail Benjamin Putnam Sr. He owned Mial's Tree Service. He was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church and the National Arborist Association. He graduated from Shelby High School and attended Cleveland Community College. He was a member of the Cleveland County Chamber.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Moore Putnam; his mother, Frances Hudson Putnam of Shelby; one son, Robert Putnam of Gastonia; two step-sons, Danny Williams of Mooresboro and Keith Williams of Shelby; one daughter, Sherry Putnam of Shelby; three step-daughters, Donna Williams of Mooresboro, Sherry Yocum of Shelby and Linda Gonzales of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, John Putnam of Shelby; two sisters, Betty Proctor and Louise Weaver, both of Shelby; two grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shelby Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George Rolling and Dr. Greg Grana officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Elinor Hopper Tyner Drake, 66, of 2008 Wensley Drive, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at her residence.
Family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.

John Jennings
NEWTON - Mr. John Jennings, 69, of 145 S. Caldwell Avenue, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Edgefield, S.C., the son of the late Essie Clay Jennings. He was retired from Burlington Industries. He was a member of New Jerusalem FBH Church.
He is survived by his father, Prince Jennings; and 13 first cousins, Rev. Leroy Wilson of Hickory; Helen Ward, Willie Wilson and Alfonzo Wilson, all of Columbus, Oh.; Susie Young, Juanita Williams and Joan Jamison, all of Shelby; Jackie Peeler of Lawndale; Paula Vinson of Valdese; Rosa Williams of Detroit, Mich., Edward Lloyd and Floyd Lloyd, both of Aiken, S.C., and Johnny Clay of Charlotte; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at New Jerusalem FBH Church with the Rev. Gladys Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday 30 minutes before the service at the church and other times at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Leroy and Willie Wilson, 2567 12th Avenue S. W., Hickory.
