Fletcher, Peggy Ann Hollar
PFAFFTOWN - Peggy Ann Hollar Fletcher, 60, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1943, in Boone to Fred Hollar and Ruth Payne Hollar. Surviving are her husband, Gerald Fletcher; their two children, Jill (Kevin Nelson) Fletcher and Alan (Debbie) Fletcher; her brother and sisters, Jerry (Joan) Hollar of Colfax, Sharon Yokeley of Winston-Salem and Phyllis (Jim) Nelson of Pfafftown; five grandchildren, Holly and Adam Neely, Travis Nelson and Brad and Erika Fletcher; a family friend, Tim Shoaf; and a number of nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She was an active member of Pfafftown Christian Church for 40 years. She enjoyed traveling and gardening, was an excellent cook and was devoted to her family and friends. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Pfafftown Christian Church, conducted by Dr. Tom Everton. Interment will follow in Pfafftown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Vogler Reynolda Chapel. Memorials may be made to Pfafftown Christian Church, 3323 Transou Road, Pfafftown, NC 27040. Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel is serving the family.

Foy, Tyrone Leonard
Mr. Tyrone Leonard Foy, 46, of 1416 Garfield Ave., passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 26, 2003. He was born April 12, 1957, in Forsyth County, the son of Alberta Gwyn Foy and the late Henry Foy. Tyrone was a graduate of Reynolds High School, class of 1975, was formerly employed at Stroh's Brewery and was of the Baptist faith. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Alberta Gwyn Foy; his children, Anthony Gray of Greenville and Demeka Johnson, Tyuane Foy, Tyrence Foy, Monta Foy, Lateshia White, Leander White, and De'Andra Reid, all of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Kiana Spruill, Tyrez Reid and Demontrae White; two sisters, Princetta (Leon) Scurlock and Sylvia Howard; a brother, Bryan (Doria) Foy; four aunts, Queen (Hubert) Kelly, Gardine "Jackie" Gwyn, Barbara White and Marie (John) Thomas; an uncle, Thomas Gwyn; a great-aunt, Carrie Carethers; a devoted friend, Renee Brown; three nephews; and a host of cousins, other relative and friends. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Union Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Konnie G. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. (Russell)

Hampton, Paul R.
WALKERTOWN - Paul R. Hampton of Walkertown, peacefully and without pain, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Davie County to the late Jesse David and Lossie Mae Johnson Hampton. He was a graduate of Davie County High School, class of 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a faithful member of Union Baptist Church. Mr. Hampton retired from Bethlehem Steel of Baltimore, Md. A son, Spencer Wade Hampton; and a sister, Joanne H. Gray, preceded him in death. He is survived by his caring and devoted wife, F. Virginia Hampton of the home; two sons, Eric B. Carson of the city and Larry Carson of Streamwood, Ill.; a daughter, Yvette (Leon) Shuff of King; four sisters, Mrs. Mozelle (Jimmy) Caesar, Mrs. Johnnie (James) Durant and Mrs. Lossie (Alphonso) Amazon, all of the city and Mrs. Inez (Sammie) Gray of Walkertown; a brother, Jesse L. Hampton of Jacksonville, Ala.; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Fannie Carson of the city; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Helen Woods and Mrs. Fannie Cato, both of the city, and Mrs. Bernice Poston of Rex, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Sandra) Carson and Vernon Gray; two aunts, Mrs. Evelyn Phillips of the city and Mrs. Ruby Leach of Advance; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousins, Mrs. Barbara Jean Thomas of Chicago, Ill., W.C. Allen of the city, Alfred Allen, Robert Allen and Mrs. Florence Owens of Advance, Mrs. Annie Ruth Brown of the city and Mrs. Annie Lee Faulkner of Charlotte. Many thanks to Dr. Judith Hopkins of Piedmont Hematology and Oncology Associates, Dr. Evans and staff of Forsyth Radiation Center and the 9th floor staff at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Union Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Sir Walter Mack Jr. will officiate and interment will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. The remains may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at Douthit Visitation Center. The family may be contacted at the residence, 1950 Clover Trail, Walkertown. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Directors.

Hampton, Wade Bryant
ELKIN - Mr. Wade Bryant Hampton, 85, of CC Camp Road, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Elkin Healthcare. Mr. Hampton was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Surry County to Harvey and Emma Hall Hampton. Mr. Hampton was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he was the secretary-treasurer of the adult men's Sunday school class. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a former member of the board of education for Elkin city schools. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Hampton, Gray Hampton and Cody Hampton; and two sisters, Anjell Harp and Bessie Hampton. Survivors include his wife, Dovie Coe Hampton, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Benny Hampton and his wife, Peggy, of Troy, Dwayne Hampton and his wife, Ann, and Terry Hampton and his wife, Annis, all of Elkin; a brother, Eugene Hampton of Elkin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Hampton will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. Jonah Parker and the Rev. Wesley Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hampton will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Oct. 1, at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 633 Friendship Church Road, Elkin, NC 28621. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Hampton family.

Johnson, James B.
Mr. James B. Johnson, 80, known as "Legs, " of 613 N. Jackson St. passed on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, after an extended illness. A native of Lamar, S.C., he was a resident of Winston-Salem for most of his life. He was a retiree of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious and Inez Johnson; two brothers, Perry and Edward Johnson; and a sister, MaeBelle Crawford. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends, including a devoted friend, Robert Surles. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin "Rip" Wilkins Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times may be contacted at 505 Kinard Drive. The family of Mr. James B. TROY - John Carson King Jr. died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Troy First Baptist Church. Pugh-Troy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Money, May Belle
KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. May Belle Money, 97, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Bradford Village West in Kernersville. She was born Sept. 28, 1906, in Yadkin County to T.H. Holcomb and Lucenda Wilkins. Mrs. Money was preceded in death by her husband, Rutherford Jennings; two brothers, Click Holcomb and Ruben Holcomb; and three sisters, Cora H. Chapel, Susie H. Wright and Dorothy H. Groce. Mrs. Money is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. The graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Memorial contributions may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Hanes-Lineberry Pierce Chapel.

Moser, Leonard Ray
DOBSON - Mr. Leonard Ray Moser, 75, the husband of Ruby Marion Moser, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Surry County to William Clay and Thanie Ardella Coe Moser. He was a self-employed painter/contractor and a farmer. Mr. Moser was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Signal Corps during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Copeland Masonic Lodge No. 390 (Master in 1966), a member of Copeland Ruritan Club (president in 1966) and a member of Level Cross United Methodist Church, where he was a choir member and a Sunday school superintendent for 40 years. Mr. Moser is survived by his wife, Ruby Marion Moser of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Charles A. Dockery of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Ray and Connie Shelton Moser of Hillsborough; four grandchildren, Will Dockery, Jon Dockery, Haley Moser and Adam Moser; a brother and sister-in-law, W.C. Jr. and Barbara Moser of Dobson; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Fred Murko of Roanoke, Va., Hedy Lou and Joe Hobson of Boonville, Ruth and Sam Prim of Carthage, Yvonne and Earl Ring of King and Louise and John Thompson of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Ann Moser; and a sister, Betty Frances Elder. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Level Cross United Methodist Church with the Rev. LaNell Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by VFW Post 10346 of Yadkinville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Floral tributes may be made or memorials may be made to Level Cross United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Jane Collins, 239 Romie Snow Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The Moser family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.

Owens, David Scott
EAST BEND - Mr. David Scott Owens, 42, of 3349 Smithtown Road, East Bend, husband of Sheila Cox Owens, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at his home. Mr. Owens was born in Surry County on April 9, 1961, the son of David C. Owens and the late Imogene Scott Owens. He was a member of Agape Faith Church in Clemmons and a customer-service representative for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Co. Surviving are his wife, Sheila Cox Owens of the home; a daughter, Katie Owens of the home; two stepdaughters, Meagan LaCaze of Lafayette, La., and Brittney LaCaze of the home; two sons, Nicholas Owens of the home and Ryan Owens of Walnut Cove; a stepson, Derrick LaCaze of the home; his father, David C. Owens of Winston-Salem; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Eddie Choplin of Yadkinville; his grandmother, Annebelle Callahan Scott of Mount Airy; three nieces, Misty Willard and Dawn Wilkins, both of East Bend and Becky Elwood of Lexington; and a nephew, Freddy Elwood of Lexington. In addition to his mother, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Elwood; and his grandfather, Earley Scott. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Pastor J.B. Whitfield with burial in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy.
