Parker, Frances Tate
Ms. Frances Tate Parker, 85, of 2097 E. 12th St., departed this life Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born to the late John and Betsy Jackson Tate, she was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, a retiree of N.C. Baptist Hospital, and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include a sister, Ms. Jeanette Tate; a brother, John Tate, both of the home; a sister-in-law, Suzanna Tate; two godchildren, Janice Brown and Wanda Rucker, all of Winston-Salem; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Jenkins will officiate and interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service hour, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, at the church. Special thanks to Mrs. Brown and the Mount Zion Baptist Church Enrichment Program and the nurses and doctors of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. (Hooper)

Spease, Vernard Erwin
NEW YORK - Mr. Vernard Erwin Spease, 52, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, in that city. He was born May 11, 1951, in Forsyth County to Minnie Spease and the late Charles Spease. He attended Anderson Senior High School and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. He was employed by the State of New York as a computer programmer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Earlina Spease; two children, Ericka and Qwame, all of New York, N.Y.; his loving mother, Minnie Spease Carpenter of Winston-Salem; his three sisters, Barbara (Samuel) Cureton, Carolyn Spease and Patricia Spease; a brother, Rocky Spease, all of Winston-Salem; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Mars Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lewis Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 1:30 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. (Russell)

Stanick, Anthony "Tony"
HIGH POINT - Anthony "Tony" Stanick, 42, of 3901 Waldorf Court died July 30, 2003. He was born May 26, 1961, in Caracas, Venezuela, the son of John Edward and Jane O'Shea Stanick. He began a successful sales career with Southern Foods and was employed with U.S. Foods. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point. He attended Our Lady of Grace School, graduated from Grimsley High School and attended Lees McRae College. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. Tony's personal warmth, love for others and passion for living endeared him to his devoted family and a wide circle of friends. These relationships were expanded by his commitment to his work and his enthusiasm for fishing, and playing and coaching soccer. He is survived by his parents, John and Jane Stanick of Greensboro; his wife, Kelly Walsh Stanick of High Point; sons Ian, Sam, Jack and Max; sisters Nancy Gilligan and husband Ken of Waynesville, Martha Schulwitz and husband Greg of Durham, Elizabeth Cottingham and husband Jim of Douglas, Ga., and Mary Neal and husband Darian of Charlotte; a brother, John Stanick of Greensboro; and 21 nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, led by Father John J. Kelly, O.S.F.S. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 1, 2003, at the home. Sechrest Funeral Service on East Lexington Avenue is serving the family. The family requests that memorials be directed to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4145 Johnson St., High Point, NC 27265, or to the Tony Stanick Memorial Fund, in care of area branch offices of the BB&T; Bank. Trexler, Peggy Phelps
CLEMMONS - Mrs. Peggy Phelps Trexler, 70, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Autumn Care of Mocksville. Mrs. Trexler was born in Forsyth County to Robert Elmer and Nettie Wrights Phelps. She was an office worker for Integon and was very active in the N.C. Association of Bee Keepers. Mrs. Trexler was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Clemmons. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Phelps. Survivors include her husband, Jack William Trexler of Clemmons; a sister, Ruth Bingham and her husband Max, of Clemmons; two brothers, Robert "Bob" Phelps and wife Betty and Howard "Jiggs" Phelps, all of Clemmons; a special niece, Wendy Stillinger of Wilmington; and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at First Christian Church of Clemmons, with the Rev. Kenneth D. Smith and the Rev. Ollis Baggett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Trexler.

Trivette, Annie Viola Dickerson
STATESVILLE - Mrs. Annie Viola Dickerson Trivette, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 29, 2003. She had been a patient at Brian Center in Statesville. She was formerly of 527 Trivette Road, Union Grove. Annie was born Jan. 14, 1911, in Lewisville, a daughter of Walter Gray and Laura Jane Trivette Dickerson. On June 11, 1938, she marriage Berlie Marshall Trivette, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1981. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Minnie Ethel Cook (Bryant), Alice D. Mayo (Tom), Edna D. Spach (Ned), Florence T. Dickerson and Mary D. Adams (Ed) and three brothers, William Dickerson, R. Bruce Dickerson (Dorothy) and Claude F. Dickerson (Pearl). Mrs. Trivette is survived by two brothers, John Leslie Dickerson and James Edward Dickerson (Ruth), all of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mrs. Pearl D. Edwards (W.W.); and a sister-in-law, Mrs. R. Bruce Dickerson (Dot) also of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Zion Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, was a member of the Union Grove and Windsors Cross Roads Home Demonstration Clubs. As a hobby, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting for her friends and family. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Shaw. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will speak with friends in the fellowship hall following the committal service. Pallbearers will be Robert Dickerson, Randall Chilton, Carl Dickerson and Grady, J.P. and Bob Trivette. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 714 Union Grove Road, Union Grove, NC 28689, or to the choice of the donor. Van Eaton, Louise Ida Hagwood
Mrs. Louise Ida Hagwood Van Eaton, affectionately known as "Miss Irene" to her family and friends, of 2980 Reynolda Road departed this life Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness, in flight to her new heavenly home to rejoice and sing with God's beautiful angels. She was born July 11, 1921, in Martinsville, Va., to the late Jesse Ben and Annie Hayes Hagwood. She was educated in the public schools of Martinsville, Va. She moved to Winston-Salem at an early age. She was a domestic worker and worked for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Butler for more than 50 years and raised their children, Diane, David, Chris (and his wife, Anne). She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Jarrett; a grandson, G'Woyne Jarrett, both of Winston-Salem; a sister, Annie Bell Barksdale; a brother, Robert Hagwood, both of Martinsville, Va.; four godchildren, Sharon Green, Agnes Rogers, Tiffany Rogers and Mandy Rogers, all of Winston-Salem; a devoted cousin, James King of Roanoke, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, extended-family members and friends. The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with Apostle Barry Spates officiating. Burial will be at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 11:30 until noon Saturday at the funeral home. Vanhoy, Alice Cornelia
Ms. Alice Cornelia Vanhoy, 83, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Springwood Care Center of Forsyth. She was born March 26, 1920, in Forsyth County to John William and Alice Flinchum Vanhoy. Mrs. Vanhoy was a member of Providence Moravian Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Baity and five brothers, William Vanhoy, Walter Vanhoy, Tucker Vanhoy, Henry Vanhoy and Martin Vanhoy. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews and two special friends, Al and Barbara Blackmon. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel by the Rev. Arkon Stewart. Entombment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Providence Moravian Church, 901 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.

Whitt, Nancy Lee Fulp
DANBURY - Mrs. Nancy Lee Fulp Whitt, 67, of 1065 Old Fulp Road died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 29, 1936, to the late Edgar and Cattie Lou Bullins Fulp. Mrs. Whitt formerly farmed and operated a small country store. She attended Shining Light Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Hoover Whitt of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Whitt Rivera and husband Adonay of Danbury and Lynn Whitt Draughn and husband Randy of Lawsonville; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Carson and Carrie Fulp, William V. and Ardina Fulp and Allie Ray and Vernell Fulp, all of Danbury. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by a son, Tony Lee Whitt; and two brothers, Silas Fulp and Otis Fulp. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Howell Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain, conducted by the Rev. Jack Anderson and the Rev. Keith Love, with interment to follow at Hard Bank Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Aug. 1, at Howell Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.

Wray, Carl
MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Carl Wray, 81, the husband of the late Emma Kathleen Eudy Wray, died Wednesday at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy.
