Rosa Jarrett
Thomasville - Mrs. Rosa Lee Morrow Jarrett, 89, of 310 Shuler Circle died July 20, 2000, at Piedmont Retirement Center.
She was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of Bruce and Ida Cohen Morrow, who both preceded her in death. She lived the greater part of her life in this area. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for many years with the American Red Cross. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class. On Nov. 16, 1935, she married Emanuel James Jarrett, who preceded her in death April 27, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Helen Jarrett Potts of Laurinburg and Mrs. Anita Wolfe, and her husband, David, of Franklinton; a son, James Morrow Jarrett and his wife, Jan, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Lela Johnson of Mooresville; a brother, Bruce Allen Morrow of Ceres, Calif.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Unity Place, Piedmont Retirement Center by the Rev. P. Glenn Kinken III and the Rev. Peggy Finch. Visitation will be after the service and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army, 10 Pine St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360; American Red Cross, P.O. Box 646, Lexington, N.C. 27292 or Memorial United Methodist Church Music Fund, P.O. Box 428, Thomasville, N.C. 27361.
J.C. Green & Sons is in charge of arrangements.

Eva McCain
High Point - Mrs. Eva Goodman McCain, 97, of 1505 Davis Ave. died July 18, 2000.
She was born Feb. 28, 1903, in Fairfield County, S.C., a daughter of John and Charlotte Goodman. She was a resident of High Point for 70 years. She retired from William Penn High School in 1968, where she worked for 171/2 years. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was active until declining health prohibited her from attending. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt 'Blue' McCain; a son, Johnnie L. Sims; and two grandchildren, Jancie Moore and Stanley Sims.
Surviving are six grandchildren, Virginia L. Sims of Suitland, Md., Annie (Samuel) Ponce, Bernita Sims and Doretta Sims, all of High Point, Gregory A. Sims of Dallas, and Charles L. Sims of Fredrickburg, Va.; three sisters, Mary Hopkins of Blair, S.C., Cora Peterson of Washington, D.C., and Charlotte Hutchinson of Blair.; and a brother, Oral Goodman of Blair; 19 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

William McPherson
High Point - William Seymour McPherson, 88, formerly of Chadbourn, died July 19, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Mae Cartrette McPherson of the residence; a son, Eugene McPherson of High Point; three daughters, Margie Strickland of Cerro Gordo, Cora Jane Nobles of Whiteville and Willa Dean Baldwin of Clarkton; a sister, Viola Cartrette of Clarendon; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Jackie Godwin. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.

Max Tussey
Lexington - The Rev. Max Lafayette Tussey, 69, of Old U.S. 64 West died at 2:30 a.m. July 20, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Reformed United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church fellowship hall.

Bertie Williams
High Point - Mrs. Bertie Williams, 82, died July 19, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Columbus County, a daughter of William Edward and Priscilla Cartrette Cribb, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Onslow Williams, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry Williams of High Point and Bobby Williams of Chadbourn; a sister, Lettie Cribb of Lake Waccamaw; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Inman Chapel in Tabor City. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Inman Funeral Home.

Lucille Williams
High Point - Mrs. Lucille Washington Williams, 74, of 1620 Brockett Ave. died July 20, 2000, at her residence. She has been in declining health.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

George Goins
Lexington - George Franklin Goins, 89, of Redwine St. died at 10 p.m. July 20, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Norma Leonard
Thomasville - Mrs. Norma Jean Wagner Cannon Leonard, 63, of 2188 Old Greensboro Road died July 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Davidson County, a daughter of Jacob M. and Bessie Freedle Wagner. She retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She married Jesse Cannon, who preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1982. She later married Bruce Leonard, who also preceded her in death July 14, 1994. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Jackie Porter.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ron (Yvette) Hicks of Thomasville; Mrs. Kenneth (Shelbie) Gallimore of Lexington and Mrs. Jimmy (Dane) Brinkle of Thomasville; her mother of Thomasville; two brothers, Donald Elwood Wagner of Asheboro and Billy Joe Wagner of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Rick (Wendy) Park of Chandler, Ariz., D.J. Brinkle of Thomasville, Leigh Ann Gallimore of Lexington, Mark Allen Brinkle, Kim Hicks, Jason Scott Brinkle and Amber Hicks, all of Thomasville; four special nieces, Grace Taylor of Kinston, Willa Gardner of Pine Tops, Tracey Porter Matthews of Southmont and Sandy Porter-Darr of Alpharetta, Ga.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronald Blakley. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Yvette Hicks, 14 Kirk St.

Charles Priddy Jr.
Archdale - Charles 'Sonny' Watson Priddy Jr., 47, of 2721 Janice Drive died July 21, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1953, in Guilford County, a son of Charles W. Priddy Sr. and Ellen Weant Priddy. He was employed with the Sheltered Workshop for 29 years. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his mother of the residence; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Graham and her husband, Mark, of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Cynthia Beemer and her husband, Gerald, of Meadville, Pa.; and his grandmother, Mrs. Cleio M. Weant of Archdale.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Funeral Chapel, High Point, by the Rev. James C. Smith. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Lucille Williams
High Point - Mrs. Lucille Washington Williams, 74, of 1620 Brockett Ave. died July 20, 2000, at her residence. She was in declining health for several years.
She was born July 7, 1926, in Rock Hill, S.C., a daughter of James and Josephine Dixon Washington. She attended Rock Hill public schools and graduated from Emmett Scott High School. More than 50 years ago, she and her family relocated to High Point, where she was employed for more than 27 years at Fly Back Toy Co. She was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, James Earl Williams, of the residence; a great-niece, Arnetta Grays of High Point; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ The King Catholic Church by Father Phillip Kollithanath. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. Rosary visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel and at other times at the residence.

Mae Brewer
Lexington - Mrs. Mae Belle Brandon Brewer, 77, of Welcome Arcadia Road died at 6:30 a.m. July 22, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.
Funeral wil be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reedy Creek Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Kathie Craver
Lexington - Mrs. Kathie Ann Leonard Craver, 46, of Reedy Creek Road died at 12:31 p.m. July 21, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
