Paul Adams

Paul Jessup Adams, 75, of 311 Washboard Road died Oct. 19, 2000, at his residence after declining health of several months.
He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Pilot Mountain, a son of John William 'Willie' and Laura Jane Jessup Adams. He was a resident of High Point and Thomasville the majority of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. In 1968, he and Jay Young co-founded Adams Plywood Inc. His nephew, James Bennett worked side-by-side with him throughout his career. He co-founded B&A Plywood with his nephews, Ronald and Claiborne Bennett. He also founded H&B Plywood with a special friend, Buford Hunter and nephew James Bennett. He will always be remember for his love of life and generous spirit. On Oct. 19, 1946, he was married to Helen Wiley, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Elaine Adams and a son, Paul 'Buck' Wayne Adams.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debra K. Adams of Durham; two sisters, Mrs. Foye Beeson of Thomasville and Mrs. Treva Hilton of High Point; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Bob Metters. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Lindsay Bullaboy
Lexington
Lindsay Allen Bullaboy, 84, of Mitchell Avenue, Salisbury, formerly of S. Cecil Street, died at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 18, 2000, at the residence of his son in Salisbury.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

James Freeman
Thomasville
James Curtis 'Canepole' Freeman, 48, of 654 Wright Road died at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18, 2000, in Chambers County from injuries received in a truck accident.
He was born Dec. 27, 1951, in Guilford County, a son of James Wesley Freeman and Audrey Billings Freeman, who both preceded him in death. He was employed as a truck driver with AAA-Newton Transportation. He was a member of Silver Valley Baptist Church.
On June 7, 1969, he was married to Linda M. Freeman, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Angela) Freeman Absher, Mrs. Dwight (Jane) Freeman Myers and Miss April Gale Freeman, all of Silver Valley; a sister, Ms. Teresa Sink of Randleman; two brothers, David Freeman and Ronnie Freeman, both of Archdale; six grandchildren, Audrey Absher, Matthew Absher, D.J. Myers, Cody Myers, Dakota Freeman and Elijah Freeman.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Silver Valley Baptist Church, Silver Valley, by the Rev. Gene Little, the Rev. Clifford Sutton and the Rev. Jimmy Dillon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, and other times at the residence.

Everette Leonard
Lexington
Everette Thomas Leonard Sr., 90, of 10361 Old U.S. 64 East died Oct. 18, 2000, at Community General Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel, Thomasville. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Ruby Potts
Greensboro
Mrs. Ruby Frances Foxworth Potts, 91, of Britthaven of Guilford, formerly of Clover Drive, High Point, died Oct. 19, 2000.
She was born Oct. 27, 1908, in Georgetown County, S.C., a daughter of Frances Asbury and Agurtha Johnson Foxworth. She was a member of Westchester Baptist Church and the Adult 5, Ladies II Sunday School Class. She was a resident of High Point for the past 75 years. She attended Jones Business College and was employed for many years with Guilford County Board of Elections. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and held various offices with the auxiliary. On Nov. 8, 1951, she was married to Thomas C. Potts, who preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1971.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Ronald Barnes of Thomasville; a sisters, Mrs. Ruth F. Trotter of Greensboro; three brothers, Charlie B. Foxworth and Jimmie M. Foxworth, both of Greensboro and Jackie B. Foxworth of High Point; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sechrest Chapel, E. Lexington Avenue, High Point, by the Rev. Eric Peacock. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Westchester Baptist Church, 135 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Mrs. Enriqueta 'Henri' Siqueiros Childress, 41, of Woods Lane, died Oct. 20, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center after a short illness.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ray Ward Crouse, 71, died Oct. 20, 2000.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, Denton. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Doris Deaton
Asheboro
Mrs. Doris Leona Morris Deaton, 60, of 945 S. Church St., Apt. 203, died Oct. 18, 2000, at her residence.
She was a native of Randolph County. She was married to Ed Deaton, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Jesse Wayne Hughes of Trinity and Joel Hughes of High Point; two sisters, Orene Akers and Faye Leonard, both of Asheboro; a brother, Bobby Morris Deaton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Union Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

William Dennis
Randleman
William Howard 'Buck' Dennis, 87, of 4171 Brown Oaks Road died Oct. 20, 2000, at his residence.
He was a native of Randolph County and retired owner of Buck's Hardware in Randleman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Yow Dennis; a daughter, Dixie Dennis Beane; and three grandsons.
Surviving are two sons, Darrell Dennis of Randleman and Farrell Dennis of Jamestown; three daughters, Sue Pegram of Ramseur, Brenda Eller of Greensboro and Shirley Turner of Charlotte; a sister, Millie Millikan of Gibsonville; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside service will be held. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St.
Memorials may be directed to Brenner Children's Hospital, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27157-1021.

Alice Miller

Mrs. Alice Irene Younts Miller, 82, of 2725 N.C. 150 died at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2000, at her residence after a sudden illness.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Friendship United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.

Gladys Russell
High Point
Mrs. Gladys Robbins Russell, 85, formerly of Watermark Court died Oct. 20, 2000, at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center after declining health of two and one-half years.
She was born May 16, 1915, in South Carolina, a daughter of Joseph Wofford and Daisie Eulala Sellers Robbins. She was a resident of High Point the majority of her life and was a homemaker. She previously attended Green Street Baptist Church. She was married to Archie Daniel Wright, who preceded her in death. She later married George Gilbert Russell, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Janice) Sedberry of High Point; two sons, Archie F. Wright of Kernersville and Daniel D. Wright of Trinity; a sister, Mrs. Sybil Murphey of Gastonia; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Chapel, E. Lexington Avenue, High Point, by the Rev. Lisa M. Mullen. Entombment will be in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.

Frances Agner
Archdale
Mrs. Frances G. Agner, 72, of 2714 Ingram Road, Archdale, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born on April 16, 1928, to the late Robah and Frances Paris Johnson. She had worked at Guilford Hosiery Mill before retiring and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny and Calvin Agner of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Rick Agner of Trinity. Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Reece of Archdale, Eyvonne Largen of Winston-Salem; one brother, Leon Johnson of Welcome; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Franklinville, N.C., with the Rev. Houston Tilley officiating. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. The family will be at the residence at other times.

Bert Bishop
High Point
Bert J. Bishop, 72, of 820 James Road, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1928, in Bishop, Md., to Bertram O. and Emma Mossholder Bishop. He was a native of Akron, Ohio, but had lived in High Point since 1974. He was a former plant manager at Fli-Back Co. in High Point and retired as plant manager at Atco Rubber Products in Greensboro. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Oakview United Methodist Church. He was married to Nancy Bishop, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving is a daughter, Cathy Bishop of Asheville and two sons, Brad Bishop and his wife, Naly, of Las Cruces, N.M., and Greg Bishop and Cynthia Jones of Denver, Co.
Services will be private.
Memorials may be directed to Oakview United Methodist Church, 321 Oakview Road, High Point, N.C. 27265. Arrangements are by Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point.

James Briggs
High Point
James Graham Briggs, 73, resident of 1611 Walker Place, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born July 31, 1927, in Surry County, a son of Robert and Flora Wood Briggs. A High Point resident most of his life, he was employed for 45 years by Thomas Built Buses and was of the Baptist faith. On Aug. 23, 1949, he married the former Alene Dunlap, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Kathy) McKenzie of High Point; one son, Gerald Briggs and wife, Jean, of High Point; six grandchildren, Mrs. Paul (Kathy) Brown, Kim Briggs, Kevin Briggs, Ashley McKenzie, Bo McKenzie and Briggs McKenzie; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Graham.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Floral Garden Park Mausoleum with the Rev. David Surrett officiating.
Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, is in charge of arrangements and although there will be no formal family visitation, friends are invited to come by the funeral home anytime after noon today.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 1820 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28204.

Brian Cobb, 15, of 519 Centennial Street, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
