Ramon Bustamante
Ramon Manuel Bustamante Enamorado, 58, of Denver, died November 6, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was born on August 31, 1949 in Santiago, Cuba to Maria Justina Enamorado Paz and the late Manuel Bustamante.
He is survived by wife, Emilia Lee Bustamante; sons, Ivies Manuel Bustamante and Ramon Manuel Bustamante, Jr. and wife Maria of Denver. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at Raymer Funeral Home on November 10. To help with funeral costs, memorials may be made to the Bustamante Fund, c/o Raymer Funeral Home, PO Box 738, Huntersville, NC 28070-738.

Rodney A. Boyles
Rodney Alexander Boyles, 61, of Hilltop Road, Lincolnton, died November 14, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 15, 1946 to Nellie B. Stamey and the late Junior Weathers in Lincolnton. He was a sergeant in the US Army during Vietnam.
Besides his mother, he is survived by one sister Frances Frady and her husband Doug; four children, Jeff Boyles and his wife Brenda; Wesley Rudisill and his wife Linda; Chris Porter, and Angie Lambert; 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two nephews; two great nephews, and one great niece.
Services were held November 17 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lincolnton.. The interment was at South River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor David Jones officiated. E. F. Drum Funeral Home is serving the Boyles family.

Farland Wallen, East Lincoln Supporter and Activist
Farland Wallen, 94, died October 7, 2007. He was living with his son, Furnal at The Villages, Florida at the time of his death. He was recovering from the amputation of his right leg due to peripheral arterial disease.
Wallen was born in Indianapolis, IN on Aug. 16, 1913, the first son of Andrew A. Wallen and Minnie Estella Thornton Wallen. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Pauline Ruth Pearson. Their marriage lasted 61 years until her death in 1992.
Mr. Wallen was well-known in the Denver area. He purchased a lot in the Westport Golf Club community and built the first home on the peninsula section of Westport.
He took an active role in his community and was active in the formation of the East Lincoln Betterment Association. He served two terms as the chairman of that organization. Wallen was also instrumental in the creation of the community library helping establish the first library in a trailer near Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and he was largely responsible for the creation of a rescue squad to get ambulance equipment located in Denver.
On three occasions, he was elected president of the Westport Peninsula Association. He was an avid golfer both on the Westport Golf Course and in Venice, Florida where he spent many winters after his retirement.
Wallen came to the Denver area through his work in the insurance industry. In 1939, Mr. Wallen entered the life insurance business as an agent with the Western and Southern Life Insurance Company. His early success led to rapid promotions through the company and he served in various offices in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. In 1964 he was placed in charge of the company’s Southeastern regional office in Charlotte as the agency director and vice-president.
From there, his dream of living on a lake was finally realized when he purchased his lot on Lake Norman. His son described him as a gentleman and very successful in business.
Wallen was very interested in history and genealogy. In retirement, he enjoyed searching for information of his early ancestors. Years of research led to the publication of a book which traced his family ancestry back over 300 years. Copies of the book were placed in over 300 public libraries in the United States, Canada, and Ireland.
While writing the book, he sought information in the Denver library. During those visits, he developed a friendship with librarian Grayce Greene. They married in December 1993. Grayce preceded him in death in 2005 after 11 years of marriage.
Mr. Wallen is survived by his son Furnal Wallen of Florida, one sister, Ilene Fuller; four grandchildren, Teresa Schithroat, Victoria Foeller, Curtis Wallen and Laura Hess; eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chyron Wallen.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. His cremated remains were placed in loving memory next to his first wife, Pauline, at Sharon Memorial Gardens in Charlotte.

Grady R. Dellinger
Mr. Grady R. Dellinger, 83, of Amity Church Road, Iron Station died Dec. 20, 2007.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21 at Iron Station United Methodist Church with Revs. Mel Burton and Terry Duckworth officiating; burial was in Iron Station Cemetery.
Mr. Dellinger was born Nov. 29, 1924 in Lincoln County, the the son of the late Ottis and Gertrude Drum Dellinger. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lee Luckadoo Dellinger, and his second wife, Nell Mull Dellinger. He was a retired safety administrator in the commercial trucking industry.
Survivors include three daughters, Zerina Francum and husband Dennis of Gastonia; Trudy Robbins of Newton; Joan Wither and husband John of Iron Station; three step-daughters, Cathy Fisher and husband Eddie of Taylorsville; Kim Mull and husband Mike of Matthews; Darnell Dietrich and husband Jerry of Marion; one step-son, Rick McGimsey and wife Jan of Plant City, Fla.; three brothers, Eugene Dellinger of Denver, Cecil Dellinger of Lincolnton, and Kenneth Dellinger of Lincolnton; two sisters, Joan Ballard and Blondie Dean Travis of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Iron Station United Methodist Church, 4777 E. Hwy. 27, Iron Station, NC 28080 or Hospice. Warlick Funeral Home served the family.

Mary E. Hooper Hall
Mary Elizabeth Hooper Hall, 75, of Highway 150 East died January 7, 2008 at CMC-Lincoln. Funeral services were held January 10 at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis with the Rev. Curtis Davis officiating. Interment followed at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents Lock Millard Hooper and Maggie Marie Lunsford Hooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband Earl Guy Hall and a sister Hazel Brotherton.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Marie Christy Talley of Maiden, Susie Hall Davis and husband Donnie of Denver, Elizabeth Earlene Benfield and husband Mark of Lincolnton; two sons, George Levert Hall and Hubert Eugene Hall and wife Lisa all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Norma Louise Tate and husband Dave Rankin, Mildred Marie Davis and husband Curtis all of Kannapolis; two brothers, Jepty Hooper and Bobby Hooper and wife Billie all of Denver; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Christian Ministry, PO Box 421, Denver, NC 28037. Lady’s Funeral Home of Kannapolis served the Hall family.

Mabel Helton Harris
Mrs. Mabel Helton Harris, 86, of 6296 Pansy Trail, Denver died Monday, February 11, 2008 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.
Her funeral will be held 11a.m. Thursday, February 13 at Denver Wesleyan Church with Rev. Johnny Houser officiating.
Burial will follow in Salem United Methodist Church in Denver.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.
Mrs. Harris was born in Gaston County, and was the daughter of the late Eddie and Mollie Combess Helton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Celia Ritchie. Mrs. Harris was a retired textile employee.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Harris of the home; one son, Eric Harris of Denver; one daughter, Pam Barrs of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Renee Ritchie, Amanda Barrs and Spencer Harris; two great grandchildren, Anthony Houser and Patrick Ritchie.

Angela Flores-Hager
Angela Elizabeth Flores-Hager, 30, of Cornelius, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident. She was born on Oct. 21, 1977 in Normal, IL. Angela worked for Keller-Williams Realty in Mooresville. She also worked for several years as an elementary school teacher and continued to volunteer teach. She touched many lives with her kindness and involvement in the community.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Eugene Hager; father Steven Flores (and step-mother, Kathy) of Normal, IL; mother, Kimberly Pappas Blanton (and step-father, James) of Denver,; paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Flores of Downers Grove, IL; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Audrey Pappas of Mooresville; great-grandparents, Mae and Joe Thibeault of Stuart, FL; brothers, Michael Flores of Mooresville, Gregory Zmirak of Denver, and Hunter Blanton of Denver; and sisters, Lindsay Duke of Troutman and Stephanie Flores of Normal, IL.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5, 2008 in the chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Auten officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005. Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville is serving the family.
