CHERRYVILLE - Pansy “Pat” Josephine Witherspoon Pharr Houser, 94, of Alterra Sterling House in Shelby, formerly of Elm Street, died Feb. 15, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church where she was a former member. A private Burial will be at a later time. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.
Born in Gaston County, she worked for Carolina Freight until retirement. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rachel P. White of Shelby; a son, Walter T. Pharr of Morganton; one step son, Bill Houser of Cherryville; two step daughters, Mary H. Hull, and Evangeline H. McMahan, both of Charlotte; two sisters, Polly Chiswell of Cary, and Doris Lynn of Shelby; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Church St., Cherryville, N.C. 28021; or First Presbyterian Church 107 W. Academy St., Cherryville, N.C. 28021.

Edith Morrison
CHERRYVILLE - Edith Maude Morrison, 89, of 1126 Cherryville Highway, died Feb. 16, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, she worked for Carlton Yarn Mill in Cherryville until retirement.
Survivors include four sisters, Edna N. Morrison of the home, Ruth Hoyle of Kings Mountain, Mary Walker of Morganton, and Laura Bowman of Cherryville.

Genelia McSwain
SHELBY - Genelia Wright McSwain, 83, of 1179 Dalton Street, formerly of Fallston, died Feb. 16, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friendship United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 until 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, she worked for Barnette’s Restaurant until retirement. At her church, she was a member of the Noah Wright Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two sons, Harold McSwain of Shelby, and Mike McSwain of Fallston; one daughter, Gay Anthony of Kings Mountain; two brothers, C.C. Wright of Gaffney, and Lester Wright of Gastonia; two sisters, Kimmie Durbin of Fallston, and Clara Beattie of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren, Kathy McSwain, David McSwain, Shannon McSwain, Kelly Peeler, Amanda Austin, Adam McSwain, Greg Anthony, Jena Grigg, and Katie Anthony; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Hallie Cook
NEWTON - Hallie Smith Cook, 68, of 4013 South Olivers Cross Road, died Feb. 16, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. View Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Born in Caldwell County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Wilson E. Cook; four daughters, Debbie Carr of Morganton, Patty Klopfer of Newton, Penny Cook, and Sandy Schronce, both of Hickory; three sisters, Margie Johnson of Florida, Jean Bailey of Cornelius, and Jo Ann Yount of Charlotte; three brothers, Earl Smith of California; and five grandchildren; Michael Morgan, Hannah Stover, Brittany Klopfer, Ethan Schronce, and Hunter Schronce.

SHELBY - Betty Louise Hunt Adams, 70, of White Oak Manor, formerly of 1116 Buffalo Street, died Feb. 13, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Fellowship Church. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Annalloyd Toliver
DENVER - Annalloyd Kudla Toliver, 63, of 1176 Oak Brook Lane, died Feb. 16, 2002.
Born in Alligan County, Michigan, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Lee Toliver; one son, Bobby Lee Toliver Jr. of Mint Hill; one daughter, Loretta Gail Toliver of Houston, California; and five grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE - Marie-Anne Brogan, 94, died Feb. 16, 2002.
She was a resident of Arlington, Mass. and Florida before coming to Charlotte. She worked for Raytheon Company until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Brogan of Billerica, Mass., and Eugene Brogan of Harvard, Mass.; two daughters, Louise Gale of Palm Coast, Fla., and Kathleen Edwards of Cape Coral, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hubert Huss
Hubert Henry Huss, 77, of 3653 Brent Trail, died Feb. 18, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gloryland Baptist Church where he attended. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U. S. Army WWII veteran and worked in the textile industry until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Heavner Huss; three daughters, Lynn Kiser of Cherryville, Renada Tucker of Denver, and Mardecia Chatham of Rutherfordton; two sons, Mitch Roberson of Casar, and Tim Roberson of Vale; three sisters, Ann Smith, and Irene Orfanedes, both of Cherryville, and Jackie Godfrey of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, David Huss; nine grandchildren, Robbie Hollifield, Brooke Tucker, Dillon Tucker, Christie Roberson, Cody Roberson, Nicole Roberson, Ashley Chatham, and Aaron Chatham, Tyler Chatham; and two great-grandchildren.

Larry Reel
Larry Thomas Reel, 62, of 602 Ross Road, died Feb. 17, 2002. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Lutheran Church cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and worked for Talon, Inc. for 41 years until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Helen P. Reel; two daughters, Melissa R. Coleman of Camiere, Miss., and Karen R. Blanton of Bessemer City; one brother, James Reel of Gastonia; and five sisters, Ethel Canipe of Lincolnton, Irene Frazier of Gastonia, Ruby Clemmer, Betty Sides Watson, and Helen Stroup, all of Dallas.

Roy Story
MAIDEN - Roy Garfield Story, 87, of 4343 N.C. Highway 16 South, died Feb. 17, 2002. A funeral service was held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Catawba County, he was a self employed farmer, and served as an usher and trustee at his church for many years. He was a member of the Balls Creek Optimist Club and a charter member of the Bandys Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ella Drum Story; one son, Phillip Story of Maiden; two daughters, Lovenia Story Keever of Maiden, and Patsy Story Isaac of Conover; one brother, Jess Story of Denver; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church, 3273 Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church Rd., Maiden, N.C. 28650.

Walter Edwards
Walter W. Edwards, 73, of 615 Car Farm Road, died Feb. 17, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Poplar Springs A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as a chef for The Greenery Café until retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Nicole Edwards of Cary; one son, Walter W. Edwards Jr. of Cary; one step-daughter, Patricia Stewart of New Haven, Conn.; his mother, Maggie Bess Edwards of the home; two brothers, Hiawatha Edwards of Kings Mountain, and Charles Edwards of Lincolnton; one sister, Mozelle Coulter of Lincolnton; and one grandchild, Patrick Edwards of Cary.

Thelma Dunn
STANLEY - Thelma Hawley Dunn, 94, of Stanley Total Living Center, formerly of Charlotte, died Feb. 18, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harry and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Born in Giatto, W. Va., she was a nurse at the Charlotte Sanitarium, Charlotte Memorial Hospital, and the Bradford Clinic. She was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church, and worked for many years with Harry and Bryant Company.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Gaston of Denver, and Sylvia Cross of Mt. Holly; one son, Kenneth B. Dunn Jr. of Charlotte; two brothers, Lindy Hawley, and Bobby Hawley; four sisters, Eva Mae Wallace, Lucille Rhyne, Estalena Jamison, and Dorothy Love; seven grandchildren, Sandra G. Barkley, John Gaston, Gary Gaston, Scott Cross, David Dunn, Brantley Dunn, and Chris Dunn; and seven great grandchildren.

Eliza Ann Clark
CROUSE - Eliza Ann Clark, 94, formerly of St. Mark’s Church Road, died Feb. 20, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at Hephzibah Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Burial followed in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, she was a member of the Missionary Society at her church, a former Sunday School teacher, and a homemaker.
Survivors include one sister, Stella Carpenter of Cherryville.
Carpenter’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

T.W. Price Jr.
OAK ISLAND - Theron “T.W.” William Price Jr. died Feb. 16, 2002. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastway Drive Church of God in Charlotte.
He was a retired fire fighter after 25 of service for the Charlotte Fire Department, and worked for 10 years as a private investigator.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy P. Price; one son, Jeffery Brent Price of Charlotte; one daughter, Jennifer Nicole Eggerich of Monroe; his mother, Eunice N. Price of Lincolnton; and two sisters, Diane P. Moody of Lincolnton and Martha E. Price of Matthews.
Memorials may be made to Eastway Drive Church of God; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 725 Wellington Ave., Wilmington, N.C. 28401.
