CHERRYVILLE — Edith Self Gruno, 88, of 1098 Sunset Road, died July 7, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.
Born in Gaston County she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Michael Gruno of Cherryville and a sister, Ruby Rhyne of Cherryville.

Michael King
LAWNDALE — Michael “Mike” William King, 59, of 128 Walker Road, died July 7, 2003. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service Will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County he was a sewing machine mechanic formerly employed by Shelby Seamless, Clevemont Mills and Artex International Inc. He was a member of Casar Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Justin King of the home; one daughter, Holly King of the home; one grandson, Jesse Gettys of the home.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, c/o Shari Carpenter, 285 School House Road, Casar, NC 28020.

E. Cronland
Estelle Cash Cronland, 79, of 117 Julia Drive, died July 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. today prior to the service at the church.
Born in Lincoln County she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Cronland of the home; five daughters, Susan Gallucci of Goldsboro, Joanna Lentz, Jackie Ledford and Paige Edwards all of Lincolnton and Beth Tate of Asheville; two sisters, Ruth Stroupe of Lincolnton and Christine Morris; 12 grandchildren, Lauren Hawkins, Zachary Lentz, Erin Whitworth, Matthew Lentz, John Lineberger, Kylie Agnew, Anna Agnew, Hannah Edwards and Maddie Edwards and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 3097 Asbury Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glenn Allen, Va. 23058-5267 or the American Lung Association, 5315, Greenbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205.

Jerry Rhyne Pollock, 48, of 3725 Gastonia Highway, died July 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pilgrim Tabernacle. Burial will follow in the Maiden City Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County he worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Lawing Pollock of the home; parents, Bob and Joyce Pollock of Lincolnton; two brothers, Jimmy Pollock of Newton and Jeff Pollock of Baltimore, Md. and two sisters, Patti Woody of Maiden and Peggy Smith of Newton.

L. Jenkins
MAIDEN — Leonard Courts Jenkins, 90, of Maiden, died July 8, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Born in Gaston County, he was a machine mechanic supervisor.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Adams of Lexington and Gale Apruzzi of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one son, Bill Jenkins of Lake Norman; two sisters, Bernice McRee of Maiden and Connie Sampsell of Philadelphia, Miss. and one grandson, Clark Adams of Greensboro.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 303 North Main Street, Maiden, NC 28650.

CHARLOTTE — William McKinley “Dick” Gaines Jr., 73, of 201 West Tenth Street, died July 8, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at ST Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.

Tyrus Sherrill
DENVER — Tyrus Thomas Sherrill Jr., 55, of 7055 Fieldcrest Lane, died July 8, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Webb Chapel Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was employed by Alpharma in shipping and receiving and was a retired U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife Patricia H. Sherrill of Vale; two step-sons, Ralph C. Helms of Statesville and Timothy C. Bartles II and four sisters, Mary Lou Herman of Hickory and Betty Curringer, Linda Bost and Judy Hicks all of Denver.

N. Aderholdt
MAIDEN — Norman Mauney Aderholdt, 70, of 7 Claude Drive, died July 9, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Born in Catawba County, he was a courier with Lincoln Bank and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Workman and Jackie Tomalinson both of Maiden; one sister, Anne Aderholdt Reece of Hickory; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Emma “Bobbie” Ervin Lohr, 89, of 2815 Lincolnton Hwy., died July 9, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was retired from L&K; Textiles as an executive secretary.
Survivors include one son, George Ervin Lohr of Bend, Ore.; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Sprinkle of Sherrills Ford and Katherine Strantz of Denton, Texas; one sister, Betty Hill of Rock Hill, SC; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

NEWTON — Shirley Mae Eaves Caldwell, 66, of 2282 Rome Jones Road, died July 7, 2003. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will follow at East View Cemetery.
She was born in Gaston County.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Caldwell of Maiden and Ronald Caldwell of Newton; one sister, Brenda Eaves Fite of Kings Mountain and four grandchildren, Shelby, Wesley, Heather and Patrick.

Born in Burke County, she was a retired Lincoln County School teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Yount of Vale and Joey Franjione of Sunrise, Fla.; two daughters, Paula Turner of Lincolnton and Peggy Simmons of Vale; three sisters, Margaret Walker and Betty Queen of Shelby and Shirley Taylor of Swartz Creek, Mich.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.

Clyde Whitener Shuford, 68, of 1302 Helms Lane, died July 10, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow at Southside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Burke Mortuary.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired driver from Yellow Freight, and U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Richard Shuford of the home; two sons, Tom Shuford of Lakemont, NY and Alan Shuford of Lincolnton and one sister, Mrs. Howard “Betty” Lawing of Lincolnton.

K. Reynolds
Katrina “Trina” Jean Reynolds, 50, of 1809 Whispering Pines Road, died July 10, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a teacher for the Gaston County School System.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Reynolds; one son, Austin Sugg of the home; one daughter, Cassidy Sugg of the home; one step-son, Jason Reynolds of Lincolnton; one step-daughter, Carrie Reynolds of Lincolnton; one sister, Maria Baker of Lincolnton and mother-in-law; Lilly Reynolds of Lincolnton.
In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Road, Dallas, NC 28034.

Wanda Turner
Wanda Lene Turner, 51, of 423 Rash Road, died July 9, 2003. There are no services planned at this time.
Born in Calhoun, Ga., she was an inspector in the textile industry.
Survivors include two daughters, Trixie Michelle Rhyne and Rebecca Cornell both of Catawba; five brothers; four sisters all of Georgia and five grandchildren.

Henry Elrod
Henry Elwood Elrod, 91, of Lincolnton, died July 11, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be Masonic rites conducted by Lovelady Lodge #670. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Born in Cherokee County, he was retired from Forest City Tool Company and a member of the Lovelady Masonic Lodge #670.
Survivors include one son, John H. Elrod of Hickory; one daughter, Doris Plonk of Dallas; one sister, Nell Voyles of Hayesville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
