Edward "ED" Davis 72 of 103 Foxcroft Drive died Saturday February 4, 2012. He was born in Person County son of the late Early Thomas Davis & the late Emma Briggs Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Thomas Davis, Dorsey Davis, Robert Davis & Hubert Davis and two sister Nettie Daniels & Cynthia Pergerson. Ed was a former member of the Antique Car Club.
Surviving are his wife Peggy Wilkerson Davis of the home, two daughters Tammy Davis Epperly of Salem, Va. and Kimberly Davis Wheeler & husband Kenneth E. Wheeler, Jr. of Goodview, Va., one sister Eunice Davis Chandler of Roxboro, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown, Mr. Casey Adams & Mr. M. Neal Bowes. Interment will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Compton, Curtis Sikes, Kenneth Davis, Tim Davis, Dustin Brinkley & Zach Epperly.
Patty Peveto Douglass

Died: 02/04/2012 and resided in Timberlake,
Patty Peveto Douglass, age 99, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2803 Satterfield Road. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Jacob Louis Peveto and Rebecca Cooper Peveto. Mrs. Douglass was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis A. Bowen. She was a member of Helen United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee from the Florida State Board of Health. Mrs. Douglass was a volunteer at Durham Regional Hospital. She was gifted in Art, Handwriting Analysis, working with puzzles and operating the computer in her nineties. She was also a former member of the Duke Living Center (swimming and walking classes).
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mabel Bowen Garrett and Herbert of Timberlake, Rebecca Bowen Emory and James of Rougemont, Patty Bowen Black and Fred of Morrisville, Eurban Morris Bowen of Titusville, Fl, and Marvin L. Bowen and Brenda of Apopka, FL; one sister, Helen Peveto of Orange, TX; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM Thursday, one hour prior to the service, at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Chaplain David Fyke officiating.

Bertha Rhew Thacker

Bertha Rhew Thacker age 99 formerly of Rougemont died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Granville County to the late Charlie and Cara Vaughn Rhew. She was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers. Mrs. Thacker was wife of the late Clyde Marvin Thacker. She was a member of Rougemont Methodist Church. Mrs. Thacker was retired from Carolina Parachute with 31 years of employment.
Surviving are two sons, Millard Clyde Thacker and wife. Marty of Rougemont, John Edward (Butch) Thacker and wife, Becky of Roxboro; one sister, Mildred Oliver of Timberlake; one sister-in-law Ila Rhew of Timberlake; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son Butch Thacker 225 North Ridge Circle Roxboro, NC 27574
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Jack Snyder and the Rev. Joel Bradsher officiating. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Rhew, Patrick Rhew, Jerry Renuart, Jerry Davis, Chad Bowes, and Anthony Boyd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kendall Oliver and Henry Aiken.
Carol Lynn Garrett

Carol Lynn Garrett 43 of 1782 Cates Mill Road and formerly of 124 Sandstone Way died Monday February 6, 2012 following a brief illness. Ms. Garrett was born in Person County, the daughter of John Mark Garrett & Phyllis Franklin Garrett of Roxboro. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her daughter Danielle Renee Lunsford of Pembroke, NC, two sons Tyler Neal Lunsford of Hurdle Mills & Ronnie Antonio Lunsford of Roxboro, two brothers Greg Garrett & wife Mandy of Roxboro, Mark "Tony" Garrett & wife Lisa of Roxboro, two grandchildren Ashanti Nicole Lunsford and Javor Hester, two nephews Travis Garrett and Justin Garrett also survive.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday February 8, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home of her Parents 1782 Cates Mills Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
Graveside Rites will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday February 8, 2012 at Person Memorial Cemetery by the Dr. M. David Chambers.

Jimmy Ray "Mundy" Carver Sr.

Jimmy Ray Carver, Sr., 76, of 302 Allgood Street, Roxboro, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro. Born in Person County, Mr. Carver was the son of the late Sam and Vertie Brann Mundy. He was the owner and operator of Mundy's Lunch for over 42 years. Mr. Carver was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Carver is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen Tilley Carver; one son, Jimmy Ray Carver, Jr. and wife Kristy, of Roxboro; one daughter, Sharon Carver Dickerson and husband W.B., of Roxboro; four sister, Annie Pearl Dunn, Dorothy McKinney, Edna Blalock, Marige Tuck, all of Roxboro; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Ross Thompson and the Pastor Mike Whitt. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Robert Ware Martin age 72 of 995 Oxford Road died Saturday Morning June 9, 2012. Born in Halifax County, Va. son of the late Bruce E. Martin & the late Fannie Powell Martin, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters Mae Newcomb, Bessie Lacks, Lina Bea Newcomb, Mary Martin & three brothers Lewis Martin, John Henry Martin & Booster Martin. Mr. Martin & his son owned & operated Martin's Body Shop in Roxboro and he was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife Sandra Clayton Martin of the home, two children Anthony Kerry Martin & wife Paula of Timberlake & Robin Martin Lee & husband William "Red" of Roxboro, one brother Roy Martin, two sister Irene Rickman & Helen Wilson all of Va.. seven grandchildren Nick Featherston & wife Savannah, Jeremy Featherston, Chris Featherston, Ashley Ladd, C. J. Ladd, Samantha Lee & Brittany Smith and four great-grandchildren also survive.
