ROBBINS - Alma Garner Chriscoe, 68, of 128 Country River Lane, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joseph Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and formerly worked at Mid-State Plastics, Seagrove.

Surviving are husband, Garland F. Chriscoe of the home; daughter, Janice Chriscoe of Robbins.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Ethel S. Thompson
STAR - Ethel Saunders Thompson, 96, formerly of Star, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, in Baaseiah Rest Home, Candor.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Leach Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Davis and the Rev. James Hamilton officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Jean Sullivan of Star, Louise Easterling of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, P.O. Box 452, Star, N.C. 27356.

Agnes B. Pell
WINSTON-SALEM - Agnes Branson Pell, of 1199 Hayes Forest Drive, Apt. 306, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Ramseur, with Dr. Charles R. Fleshman, the Rev. Justus McKeel, and the Rev. Jack Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Ramseur, the widow of Kermit Gregg Pell, with whom she owned and operated Pell's Food Store for 40 years and a homemaker. She was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church, a former member of First Baptist Church, Ramseur, and a member of Weatherly Chapter #271 Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are daughter, Gwyn P. Bottoms of Salisbury; son, J. Gregg Pell of Ramseur; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the home of Katherine Maples, 1510 Main St., Ramseur.

Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, is in charge of arrangements.

Percy N. Revell
AVON PARK, Fla. - Percy Nolan Revell, 77, of Avon Park, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Bonisay, Fla.

Among the survivors are John Revell of Asheboro.

Peel Funeral Home in Bonisay, Fla., is handling the arrangements.

Ailen B. Davis
ASHEBORO - Ada Ailen Blackwell Davis, 74, of 1926 Greenwood Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Bob Button and the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Union County, S.C., the widow of Howard A. Davis and a member of Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are sisters, Guynell Hunt of Asheboro, Elizabeth Crosby of Tallahassee, Fla.; stepson, Robert Davis of Sophia; stepdaughter, Linda Croll of Averill Park, N.Y.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Guynell Hunt, 356 W. Ward St., Asheboro, N.C.

Ray Luck
ASHEBORO - Dalton Ray Luck, 53, of 331 Roland Lane, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Randy Quate and J. Raiford Brown officiating. Burial will be in Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church, a former employee of Georgia-Pacific Corp. and served in the National Guard.

Surviving are wife, Kaye Hudson Luck; son, Steven Ray Luck of Asheboro; sister, Frances Redding of Asheboro; brothers, Bill Luck and Bob Luck, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Kennie R. Musselwhite

PLEASANT GARDEN - Kennie R. Musselwhite, 55, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Veterans National Cemetery in Salisbury.

He was a native of China Grove.

Surviving are sons, Shane Musselwhite, Travis Musselwhite, both of Ramseur; brother, Jimmy Musselwhite of Salisbury; fiancee, Lataine Nichols of Pleasant Garden.

Cremation Services Inc., Winston-Salem, is in charge of the arrangements.

Rebecca P. Shackleford
GREENSBORO - Rebecca Ann Pugh Shackleford, 65, of Brookstone Haven Rest Home, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Vanstory Chapel, Greensboro. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

She was the widow of Clarence S. Shackleford.

Surviving are sons, Larry Ray Shackleford of Sophia, David Wayne Shackleford, Charles Samuel Shackleford, both of Randleman; daughter, Vicki Ann Haithcock of Randleman; brother, J.C. Pugh of Greensboro; sisters, Margaret Anderson of Greensboro, Naomi Williamson, Mary Harvell, both of Pleasant Garden; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

STAR - Mary Magdalene Kennedy Ray, 73, of 1216 Black Ankle Road, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Wesleyan Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Blackmon officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and attended Fulp's Memorial Church.

Surviving are daughter, Pamela Jean Belcher of Mt. Gilead; sons, William Thomas Ray, Phillip Ray, both of Star; brothers, Lacy Kennedy of Seagrove, Colvin Kennedy of Apex; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Marvin Hussey
SUPPLY - Marvin Hussey, 83, of 2215 W. Tanglewood Drive, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Brunswick Community Hospital, Supply.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Baptist Church, Seagrove, where he was a member, with the Rev. Harold Baker and the Rev. Charles Lassiter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and formerly employed with Burlington Socks.

Surviving are wife, Mary Smith Hussey of the home; son, David Eugene Hussey of Randleman; brothers, Lewis Hussey and James Hussey, both of Seagrove; sisters, Lula Cox of Bonlee, Annie Mae Allison of Seagrove, Marie Garner of Robbins; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of the son, 219 Gum St., Randleman.

Odell Boyte
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - Odell Boyte, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Cathy Jamieson-Ogg, the Rev. William R. Kinnett and the Rev. Robert J. Howell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Carthage, a Korean War veteran, a graduate of Appalachian State University and a teacher, football and girl's basketball coach in St. Pauls. He was employed with the Federal Land Bank as regional vice president over North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, First Citizens Bank in Sanford, retired from Farm Credit Bank in Columbia, S.C., after 29 years as a senior vice president and was an independent real estate appraiser. He was a member of Elks Lodge #2603, Camden, S.C., the VFW Lodge and Masonic Lodge #172, both in Sanford, and a member of Ag First Retirees Associates.

Surviving are wife, Rebecca Flinchum Boyte; sons, Robert W. Boyte Sr. of Ridgeway, S.C., Charles Glenn Boyte of Columbia, S.C., Derrick Eugene Boyte of Blythewood, S.C.; sister, Carolyn Lamm of Sanford; brother, C.G. Boyte Jr. of Southern Pines; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Shives Funeral Home, Columbia, S.C., 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Arthur L. Hartsell
ASHEBORO - Arthur Lee Hartsell, 89, of 264 N.C. 49 South, Asheboro, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at 854 Sycamore Lane, Jackson Springs.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at West Bend United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. David C. Noyes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Stanly County, the widower of Isabell L. Hartsell and attended Elon College where he was on the wrestling and football teams. He was a past pianist, member of the Methodist Men and former secretary and treasurer at his church, previously worked at Bossong Hosiery Mill and was the co-owner and operator of Hartsell's Greenhouses.

Surviving are daughters, Sylvia Kearns, Edith Hall, Sherry Moore, all of Asheboro; sisters, Mabel Carter, Carrie Campbell, both of Jackson Springs; brother, Marvin Hartsell of Jackson Springs; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Ruth V. McMasters
ASHEBORO - Ruth Vivian McMasters, 72, of Old Liberty Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at her home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Junior Dawkins officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed with Klopman and Burlington Industries and Crawford Knitting, and a greeter at Wal-Mart in Randleman.

Surviving are son, Randy M. James of Asheboro; sister, Opal M. Bullard of Asheboro; brothers, Cicero McMasters, Gene McMasters, both of Asheboro, Glenn McMasters of Franklinville.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

J. Clark Thornburg
ASHEBORO - J. Clark Thornburg, 88, of 5620 Lassiter Mill Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Farmer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Hammond and the Rev. Ben Ramsaur officiating. Burial will be in Farmer Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed with McCrary Hosiery Mill where he played on the McCrary Eagles Baseball team and owned and operated the Bar-Hala Hunting Lodge. He was the former vice president and director of Farmer Mutual Fire Insurance Co., a member of the Woodman of the World where he received a commendation for environmental conservation and a member of the Farmer Lion's Club.

Surviving are wife, Grace Garner Thornburg of Asheboro; daughters, Emily T. Clodfelter, Amy T. Ramsaur, both of Asheboro; brother, Val Thornburg of Asheboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Orie T. Simmons
RAMSEUR - Orie Trogdon Simmons, 91, of Randolph Hills Apartments, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Jack Kivett officiating. Burial will be in Holly's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Wilkes County, previously employed with Randolph Mills and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving are sons, James D. Trogdon of Ramseur, Edward M. Trogdon of Franklinville, David Trogdon, Joseph Trogdon, both of Newport News, Va., Samuel Trogdon of Austin, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth Burney of Newport News, Va., Sarah Finn of Warren, Ohio; sisters, Myrtle Westmoreland, Virginia D. Hodgin, both of Asheboro; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

SILER CITY - Linda F. Cockerham, 54, of 4724 Piney Grove Church Road, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Liberty, with the Rev. James Messer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church of High Point.

Surviving are husband, Don Cockerham Sr. of the home; son, D.J. Cockerham Jr. of Liberty; father and stepmother, James and Marie Leonard of St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepfather, Bud Tetiva of Siler City; brother, Mike Leonard of Level Cross; stepbrothers, Steve Tetiva of Mocksville, Michael J. Tetiva, James R. Tetiva, Jeffrey L. Tetiva, Ben V. Tetiva, Carl J. Tetiva, all of Southern California; one grandson.

CANDOR - Mack Donald Treece, 74, of 390 Graham Road, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jack Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Richmond County, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and retired as manager of a pulp wood yard.

Surviving are wife, Mildred Rush Treece of the home; sisters, Margaret Pressley of St. Mary's, Ga., Alma Deaton of Mt. Gilead; brother, Durant Treece of Hamlet.

The family will be at Briggs Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Truby F. Allred
ROBBINS - Truby Franklin Allred, 54, of 208 Virginia Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his home.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Monty Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County.

Surviving is sister, Beuna A. Shields of Robbins.
