Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Deep River Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Howard Moffitt officiating.

She was a native of Chatham County and former owner and operator of Asheboro Farm and Garden.

Surviving are husband, Larry B. Tupper of Ramseur; son, Greg W. Kenyon of Ramseur; mother, Willie Macon Fesmire of Ramseur; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Greg and Salley Kenyon, 853 N.C. 22 South, Ramseur.

Leona R. Tedder
BISCOE - Mary Leona Robinson Tedder, 87, of Biscoe, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hamer Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex Willoughby and Dr. Dan Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Troy, a graduate of Troy High School with honors, a homemaker, a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy and the widow of Thaddeus R. Redder. She helped establish and operate several businesses in the county.

Surviving are sons, Roland F. "Bill" Tedder of Hamstead, Thaddeus Robinson "Robbie" Tedder of Mt. Gilead; daughters, Janie T. Meacham of Charlotte, Becky T. Wallace of Titusville, Fla., Susan T. Peterson of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild.

The family will be at Edwards Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

SOPHIA - Kathy Diane Wilson McGee, 46, of 2434 Woodfield Court, died March 25, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, attended Smyrna Grove Community Church, was a homemaker and was employed with Specialized Services in Lexington, where she cared for handicapped children.

Surviving are husband, Kenneth R. McGee of the home; daughters, Lisa Graham of Seagrove, Tracie Suits of the home and Sherry Lynn McGee of Greensboro; son, Jason Suits of the home; mother, Frankie Wilson of Archdale; sister, Jeanie Canter of Archdale; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the residence.

Maggie Trotter
DENTON - Maggie P. Trotter, 80, of 473 Spring Grove Lane, Thomasville, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Union United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gary Phaup officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and had worked at Bossong Hosiery in Asheboro.

Surviving is sister, Ruth Yates of Denton.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Vivian W. Brady
BURLINGTON - Vivian Williams Brady, 76, of Burlington Manor Assisted Living, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Todd Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.

She was a native of Moore County and the widow of Harrison C. Brady.

Surviving are son, Alan L. Brady of Greensboro; daughter, Kathy B. Weiss of Burlington; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Kathy and David Weiss, 2416 Berkley Road, Burlington, N.C., and at the home of Alan and Sheila Brady, 1802 Hobbs Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27410.

Jack R. Lane
SILER CITY - John Randolph "Jack" Lane, 93, of 816 Cliftwood Drive, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a native of Chatham County, a graduate of barber school in Atlanta, Ga., a retired worker from City Barber Shop and a former employee of 20 years at Hickory Mountain Farms. He was the widower of Myrtle Johnson Lane.

Surviving are daughters, Anne L. Sartwell of Bear Creek, Jackanette L. Teague of Siler City; two grandsons; two great-grandsons.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

LINCOLNTON - Clevie Lee Christopher, 86, of 194 Plum Lane, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Long Shoals Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stuart Johnson and the Rev. Lawrence Toney officiating. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Lincoln County, a homemaker and the widow of the Rev. Bruce Christopher.

Surviving are son, Billy Christopher of Lincolnton; daughters, Nancy Carole Branning, Frances Pugh, Lisa King and Juanita Caldwell, all of Lincolnton, Martha McNeill of New London, Beulah Carringer of Maiden; brothers, Luther Jr. Yarbrough of Lincolnton, Jonas Yarbrough of Fallston; sister, Jennie Lineberger of Lincolnton; 18 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Warlick Funeral Home, Lincolnton, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

DILLON, S.C. - Edna Lawrimore Grantham Barfield, 89, died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Dillon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Main Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Grantham Family Cemetery.

Surviving are son, Derrick Grantham of Asheboro; daughter, Guynelle Grantham Arrington of Dillon, S.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kannaday's Funeral Home, Dillon, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Ronnie Maness
CANA, Va.- Ronald Joe "Ronnie" Maness, 52, of 21 LJ's Lane, Cana, Va., formerly of Asheboro, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Gerald Lintecum officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, a surveyor and a member of Life of Victory Word Fellowship Church in Cana, Va.

Surviving are daughter, DeLana Jo Maness of Greensboro; daughter, Rose Lynne Maness of Greensboro; sisters, Darlene Maness of Cana, Va., Lisa Maness of Mt. Airy, and Lora Sierra of Siler City; brother, Bill Maness of Siler City; two grandsons.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Maude Carter Luther
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - Maude Carter Luther, 95, of 215 West F. St., died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. Ken LaDuke and the Rev. Buford Hankins officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Appalachian State University where she received her teaching certificate, the widow of Herbert L. Luther and a member of First United Methodist Church, the Susan Wesley Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are daughters, Caroline Lockett of Johnson City, Tenn., JoAnn Luther Oakley of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Helen Taibi Ottingeri of the home; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.

Shirley Varner
ASHEBORO - Shirley Ann Harville Varner, 64, of 974 Ridges Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Morristown, Tenn., a member of First Baptist Church and a retired security guard.

Surviving are husband, Willie "Bill" Varner; son, Terry Phillips of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Ruth Woods of Knoxville, Tenn., Nancy Brown of Morristown, Tenn.; two grandsons.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

SEAGROVE - Henry Ray Richardson, 90, of 6552 Maple Springs Road, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at High Pine Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp and the Rev. Leon Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired worker from Hoyt Wright Sawmill.

Surviving are wife, Mildred B. Richardson of the home; daughter, Lois Callicutt of Troy; sons, Ray Richardson of Troy, Maxton Richardson and Harvey Richardson, both of Seagrove; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Billy Dennis and the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Roger Hunsucker of the home; sons, Jonathan Hunsucker of Mt. Gilead, Jamie Hunsucker of Troy; brothers, Bob Harris of Mt. Gilead, Howard "Bud" Harris of Troy; sisters, Joann Sides of Harrisburg, Kay Brazzell of Columbia, S.C., Martha Todd of Charlotte, Ginger Hunsucker of Mt. Gilead; three grandchildren.

Gertrude M. McNeill
TROY - Gertrude McDonald McNeill, 93, formerly of 628 Bruton St., died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Brightmoor Nursing Center, Salisbury.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove, with the Rev. Ron Copple officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County and the widow of Dempsey Thomas McNeill.

Surviving are daughter, Joanne M. Hales of Welcome; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday.

Jewell M. Elmore
HARRISONBURG, Va. - Jewell Maness Elmore, 94, of White Birch Estates, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Chapel of White Birch Estates. Another memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Myers Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, where she was a member. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Maness family Cemetery, Biscoe.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Richard Turner Elmore Sr., a former instructor for the Singer Sewing Co. store in Richmond, Va., and a kindergarten teacher and hostess at her church. She attended Elon College.

Surviving are daughter, Mary Leach Elmore of Alexandria, Va.; son, Richard T. Elmore Jr. of Melbourne, Fla.; one granddaughter.

Theis Funeral Home, New Market, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

Majorie Harris
STALEY - Marjorie Harris, 74, of 202 Cooper Road, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at SunBridge Care of Siler City.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Evans Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Ridie Headen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Brooks of Bladenburg, Md., Shelia Patterson of the home; sons, Gary Harris of Yazoo, Miss., Anthony Harris of Siler City, Vincent Harris of Liberty; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Charles R. Foust
MT. VERNON SPRINGS - Charles Ryan Foust, 77, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Veteran's Hospital in Durham.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Siler City, with Dr. Cecil Callis officiating.

He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Mary Lee Phillips Foust, a member of Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the VFW and Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #143 AF & AM, where he had served as Past Master. He was a member of the Carolina Wagon Train Association and retired from Siler City Mills Inc.

Surviving are daughters, Gail F. Johnson of Bear Creek, Pam F. Webster of Bonlee; sister, Sara F. Smith of Siler City; brothers, Ben S. Foust and Gene H. Foust, both of Siler City, Jack H. Foust of Mt. Vernon Springs; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Joyce M. Dawkins
BISCOE - Joyce M. Dawkins, 59, of 165 Martin Drive, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she was a founding member, with Dr. W.E. McPeters and Dr. Ray Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a seamstress.

Surviving are husband, Donald Dawkins of the home; son, Gary Dawkins of Star; mother, Callie McCaskill of Biscoe; sisters, Betty McDonald of Hickory, Linda Cagle of Seagrove, Janice Wooten and Judy M. Ferree, both of Biscoe, Kathy McBride of Star; three granddaughters.
