TROY - Saqueria Margiuan Horne, 1, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, with Minister Marcella Gould and the Rev. James Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut AME Zion Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County.

Surviving are parents, Kamal Lilly and Bruce Horne of the home; brothers, Breshaun, Kemar and Christian; grandparents, Joseph Lilly Sr. of Mt. Gilead, Priscilla Horne and Bruce Cash; great-grandparents, Rhodema Lilly and Jack Medley, both of Mt. Gilead.

Joseph H. Caithamer
CONWAY, S.C. - Joseph Harry Caithamer, 81, of Watershed Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Omaha, Neb., and the widower of Shirley Mae Caithamer

Surviving are son, Joseph H. "Skipper" Caithamer Jr. of Orange, Calif.; daughters, Joyce Stoltz of Conway, S.C., Josephine Cannon of Aloha, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Palmetto Funeral Home, Conway, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Jacob P. Cebula Jr.
ASHEBORO - Jacob Peter Cebula Jr., 51, of 1238 Autumn Lane, Asheboro, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Requiem mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Lackawanna, N.Y., with Father Ronald Gagnon officiating. Burial will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Bergen, N.Y.

He was a native of Rome, N.Y., an employee with the U.S. Forest Service Uwharrie National Forest and a member of the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Wake Forest.

Surviving are wife, Emily Greene Cebula of the home; daughter, Margaret Rose Cebula of the home; son, Jacob N. Cebula of Rochester, N.Y.; sisters, Amy C. Cooley of Cobb, Calif., Elizabeth Cebula of Medina, N.Y.

Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, Batavia, N.Y., is in charge of arrangements. Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of local arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Alice Wright Ward, 90, of 816 Oakmont Drive, Asheboro, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. William Christopher Thore officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Spencer, the widow of George E. Ward and a church secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury. She was the first office manager for Randolph Electric, a bookkeeper and a gift shop manager at General Hardware. She ran for state Senate and worked for the Randolph County Tax Department. She was a member of the Randolph County Republican Women, a Gray Lady at Randolph Hospital and a member of Central U.M.C.

Surviving are son, Ralph Ward of the home; brother, Kirby H. "Bill" Wright of Virginia Beach, Va.

Howard A. Saunders
FRANKLINVILLE - Howard Andrew Saunders, 89, of 215 Allred St., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Franklinville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Steven Cox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a retired hardwood floor refinisher and a member of Hanks Masonic Lodge in Franklinville and the Weatherly Chapter #271 order of the Eastern Stars in Ramseur.

Surviving are wife, Irene Kinney Saunders of the home; sons, Tim Saunders of Asheboro, Andrew Saunders of Richmond, Va., Mark Saunders of the home, David Saunders of Greensboro; daughter, Camilla Huffman of Reston, Va.; brothers, Ernest Saunders of Grandy, Worth Saunders of Lexington, Harvey Saunders of Clyde; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Pauline L. Norton
SILER CITY - Pauline Lampley Norton, 69, of 509 Pine Glade Ave., Apt. 5, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at 14818 N.C. 27 West, Sanford.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Siler City Church of God, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ray Gooch and the Rev. Neal Kight officiating. Burial will be in Meroney United Methodist Cemetery, Bear Creek.

She was a native of Marlboro County, S.C., and a retired worker from Hadley Peoples Manufacturing Co., Siler City.

Surviving are son, Ernest "Skippy" L. Norton Jr. and Rickey L. Norton, both of Siler City, Robbie Norton of Spice; daughters, Paula N. Lineberry of Cedar Falls, Cynthia N. Perez of Siler City; brothers, Jimmy Heaton of Ramseur, Bill Heaton of Laurinburg; sisters, Nettie Barnes of Siler City, Elizabeth Wooten of Wagram, Linda Edwards of Maxton, Josephine Chavis of Laurel Hill; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Rickey Norton, 611 George St., Siler City.

JACKSON SPRINGS - Emma Locke Ashman, 71, of 256 Critters Corner Circle, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Candor Presbyterian Church.

She was a native of Middletown, N.Y., an employee with Aramark Food Service and a member of Millerton Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are husband, John E. Ashman Sr. of the home; daughters, Betty-Lou Wineman of Santa Clarita, Calif., Kelley A. Wolcott of Copake, N.Y.; sons, John E. "Chip" Ashman Jr. of Jackson Springs, James A. Ashman of Kent, Conn.; sisters, Betty Locke of Montgomery, N.Y., Georgia Voegelin of Montgomery, N.Y., Mary Kovar of Hilton Head, S.C., Kate Howe of Tilson, N.Y.; eight grandchildren.

Harry M. Parmeter
STAR - Harry Mason Parmeter, 83, of 224 Kanoy St., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church, with Dr. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery, Biscoe, with military honors.

He was a native of Ross County, Ohio, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Biscoe VFW Post # 9981 and a retired machinist from Good Year Atomic Corp., Piketon, Ohio.

Surviving are wife, Flora McCaskill Parmeter of the home; daughters, Joyce Lemonds of Candor, Vickie Raynes of Mansfield, Ohio; sons, Ricky Parmeter of Piketon, Ohio, James Parmeter of Biscoe; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Daisy L. Stocks
THOMASVILLE - Daisy Lucille Stocks, 88, of Lexington Health Care, formerly of Bish Court, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Stuart White and the Rev. Kenneth Miller officiating.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of James Stocks, a retired worker from Hill Hosiery Mill after more than 25 years and a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Margaret Barker of Lexington, Pamela Barnes and Ann Carter, both of Asheboro; sons, Troy Stocks and David Buckner, both of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Margaret Baker, 1623 Hannerville Road, Lexington.

J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Leslie Albert Thomas, 84, of 1931 Trogdon Hill Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Asheboro Health & Rehab.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Robert Dowling officiating. Burial will be in Franklinville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Acme McCrary Corp., and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are brother, George Thomas of Asheboro; sister, Lillie Caviness of Ramseur.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Janie M. Williams
ASHEBORO - Janie McDuffie Williams, 78, of 632 Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Timothy Fore and the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Harrison W. Williams, retired from Burlington Socks and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sisters, Jessie Henry and Lucille Ritch, both of Asheboro, Annie Macon of High Point.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Revonda Pickard, 200 Hampton Road, Asheboro.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Youth Ministry, 1206 Oakland Ave., Asheboro, N.C. 27203.

STALEY - David Ollie Rich Sr., 76, of 3898 Curtis Lane, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Surviving are wife, Barbara M. Rich of the home; sons, Jerry Rich of Staley, David Ollie Rich Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Sandra Rich of Asheboro; sister, Jewel Hill of Asheboro; brother, John Paul Rich; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Shirley L. Watkins
MT. GILEAD - Shirley LeGrande Watkins, 72, of 6909 Grassy Island Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Harris Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. James Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., the widow of Frank Watkins and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Franklin Watkins of Mint Hill, Donald Watkins of Wingate, Alexander Watkins of Polkton, Jeffrey Watkins of Charlotte, Carlton Watkins of Ellerbe; daughters, Shirley Ann Jarman, Jennifer Armstrong, Beverly Hunt, Cleisha Stancil, all of Charlotte, Barbara Rush of Matthews, Janice Patton of Rock Hill, S.C., Tamala Watkins of Midlothian, Va.; brother, Thomas Sturdivant of Charlotte; sister, Katie Gibson of Charlotte; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren .

The family will be at the church noon-1 p.m. Saturday.

CARTHAGE - Thurman E. Seley, 95, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bible Tabernacle. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Wake County and a retired farmer.

Surviving are daughters, Gwen Boyte of Carthage, Judy Hunt of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Connie Ray of Durham, Thelma Seley of Wilson; brother, J. Pullen Seley of Wendell; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Billy and Gwen Boyte, 2791 U.S. 15/501, Carthage, following the service.

She was a native of Randolph County and a retired worker from Acme-McCrary Corp.

Surviving are husband, Murl F. Phillips of the home; son, Bobby Phillips of Asheboro; daughters, Debbie Maness and Donna Potts, both of Asheboro, Lisa P. Smith of Franklinville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - James Earl Tyson, 62, of 867 Brower Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Kindred Hospital.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Lambert Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. William Harrington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a retired worker from Hadley Peoples.

Surviving are wife, Shirley Tyson; daughters, Avalene Williams of Greensboro, Janice McMasters, Tonya Rhodes and Angela Brooks, all of Greensboro; sons, Tyrone Wiley of Siler City, Garland Brooks Jr. of Greensboro; brothers, Orlen Cheek of Coleridge, Everett Tyson and Charles Jordan, both of Siler City; sisters, Mildred Brooks of Siler City and Edna Craven of New York.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Jesse G. Faucette
HAW RIVER - Jesse Graham Faucette, 81, of 239 Wilkins Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Liberty Commons, Burlington.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Haw River United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jim Reed and the Rev. William Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

He was a native of Alamance County, a member of the choir at his church for over 50 years and a member of the Methodist Men. He was a member of the Haw River Community Pride, Alamance Beautiful Commission, Alamance County Genealogical Society, Haw River VFW Post and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Retired from Western Electric, he was a Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Mildred Cash Faucette and Norma Goodwin Faucette.

Surviving are daughter, Gloria Faucette of Burlington; son, Bill Faucette of Randleman; sisters, Jean Layton of Snow Camp and Carol Newman of Whitsett; brothers, David Faucette of Haw River and James Faucette of Mebane; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home, Graham, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Oleta Y. Anderson
DENTON - Oleta Yates Anderson, of 175 Carter-Davis Road, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and had worked at Thomasville Furniture Industries.

Surviving are daughters, Janet Anderson of Greensboro and Linda Ruppenthal of Cornelius; brother, Howard Yates of Denton; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

John P. Cox
CANDOR - John Paul Cox, 63, of South Main Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with the Rev. Michael Burdette officiating. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery with military rites.

He was a native of Harford County, Md., and a retired U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled Veterans.

Surviving are wife, Kathleen Kilby Cox of the home; daughter, Kathy Horn of the home; son, John Paul Cox Jr. of Siler City; sisters, Alice Jones of Aberdeen, Md., Ozette Goss of Denver, Colo.; brother, Francis Cox of Aberdeen, Md.; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.
