Charles J. Crawford
GRAHAM - Charles John Crawford, 59, of 4909 Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his home following three years of failing health.

The graveside service will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum by the Rev. Bob Kretzu officiating.

He was the son of the late John Turner and Ruth Gillen Crawford. Charles was employed by Burlington Industries and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Crawford of Asheboro; son, Geoffrey Crawford of Asheboro; and grandchildren, Trent Joura, Samuel Crawford and Shea Trotter.

There will be no visitation.

Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Burlington, is in charge of arrangements.

Norvell S. Gregory
LEVELLAND, Texas - Funeral services for Norvell Schmidly Gregory, 79, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, Levelland, Texas, with the Rev. Jesse Hodge, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George C. Price Funeral Directors. She died at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Lynwood Manor of Levelland, Texas.

She was born on July 4, 1924, in Shep, Texas, and moved to Littlefield in 1937. She married H.J. "Chick" Schmidly on January 12, 1942, in Littlefield and he died January 13, 1985. She later married Buck Gregory on November 27, 1987. She was a graduate of Littlefield High School.

A member of First United Methodist Church of Levelland, she was also active in Home Demonstration Clubs in Hockley County.

Survivors include her husband, Buck Gregory of Levelland; her sons and their wives, David and Janet Schmidly of Stillwater, Okla., Stephen and Susan Schmidly of Asheboro; her stepchildren, Jerry and Teresa Gregory and Bob and Linda Gregory, all of Albuquerque, N.M. and Nancy Lockwood of Orlando, Fla.; her grandchildren, Katherine Schmidly Ong, Brian James Schmidly, Christopher Scott Schmidly, Jennifer Brooke Schmidly, Elizabeth Paige Schmidly; her stepgrandchildren, Justin Ross Windsor, Staci Elizabeth Windsor, Bryson Conrad Windsor, Matt Gregory, Caron Gregory, Lisa Lockwood and Andrew Lockwood; and her great-grandchildren, Kameron Elaine Ong and Bennett Knox Ong.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at George C. Price Funeral Home.

Ashley W. Walk
ASHEBORO - Ashley Walker Walk, 25, of 680 Dynasty Drive, Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Forrest Park Baptist Church in Randleman, where she attended, with the Rev. Jon Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Richmond, Va., and a property manager for Ashebrooke Point Apartments in Greensboro. She was the widow of Shane Lee Walk.

Surviving are son, Tyler "Lane" Walk of Asheboro; parents, Hobson and Jean Walker of Asheboro; sister, Townsend Newman of Richmond, Va.; grandmother, Irene Benson of Irvington, Va.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ruth M. Shaw
RANDLEMAN - Ruth McCollum Shaw, 87, of 709 S. Main St., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a Randleman native, formerly employed with Burlington Industries and retired from Commonwealth Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are son, Forrest "Buck" Shaw Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Ruth "Jane" Rutledge of Randleman; brothers, Jack McCollum and Joe McCollum, both of Randleman; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

RANDLEMAN - Evelyn Walton Cable, 74, of 313 Deerfield County Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Marshall Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Centre Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a High Point native and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, William Cable of Randleman; sons, William Billy Cable Jr. and Alan W. Cable, both of Randleman; daughters, Carol C. Gillenwater of Princeton, W.Va., Alice G. Cable of Greensboro; brothers, Donald Walton of Florida, Shirley Walton of High Point; sister, Ernestine Weiser of Welcome; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

SEAGROVE - Ruby Brooks Sugg, 95, of 8010 Erect Road, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Cross Road Retirement Center, Asheboro.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fran Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a Randolph County native and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Women at her church and a member of Women's Home Demonstration. She was the widow of Clay Sugg.

Surviving are son, Jack Sugg of Erect; daughter, Nancy Auman of Terrell; sister, Golda Linthicum of Asheboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Marvin D. Mullinix Sr.
TROY - Marvin Denson Mullinix Sr., 83, of 167 Morton Road, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Britthaven of Piedmont, Albemarle.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Uwharrie United Methodist Church, Troy, where he was a member, with the Rev. Glenn Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a Montgomery County native and a charter member of both West Montgomery Lions Club and Uwharrie Volunteer Fire Department. He owned and operated Mullinix Grocery until his retirement.

Surviving are sons, Benny Mullinix of New Bern, Darrell Mullinix of Cornelius; daughter, Susan M. Tetter of Rocky Mount; sisters, Thelma Kearns and Ruth Lisenby, both of Troy, Julia Saunders of Burlington; brothers, Robert Mullinix of Troy, Ted Mullinix of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bill Mullinix of Richfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home.

BISCOE - Sandra "Sandy" Deese Brewer, 62, of 313 Pine St., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Christian Church, Seagrove, where she was a member, with the Rev. Darren Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a Mecklenburg County native and a member of the Womens' Missionary Group at her church. She was a former employee of First Bank and owned and operated a craft shop.

Surviving are husband, Bill Brewer of the home; daughter, Renee H. Britt of Troy; sons, Andy Hamilton of Mt. Gilead, Jeff Hamilton of Raleigh; brother, Jim Saunders of Gastonia; sisters, Joyce Gordon of Charlotte, Mary Tucker of De Funiak Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home.

SEAGROVE - Junior Edgar "June" Brown, 78, of W.A. Craven Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen, the Rev. Tim Cross and the Rev. Brandon Jordon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of New Center Christian Church and a retired logger.

Surviving are wife, Prilla Marley Brown; son, Harold J. Clark of Robbins; brother, Farrell Brown of Jackson Springs; sisters, Annie Chriscoe of Seagrove, Ruby Chriscoe of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Kathy D. Foushee
GOLDSTON - Kathy Diane Dixon Foushee, 51, of 1671 Vander Oldham Road, Bear Creek, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial will be in Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of John Robert Foushee and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Jonathan E. Foushee and Robert G. Foushee, both of Bear Creek; mother, Kathleen Johnson Dixon of Bear Creek; brothers, Dennis Ray Dixon of Pittsboro, Joey Dixon of Sanford; sisters, Janice Inman of Siler City, Wendy Barber of Morehead City, Valerie Nelson of Bear Creek, Sandy Dixon of Goldston.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Henry C. Burgess
CANDOR - Henry Clifford Burgess, 62, of 2511 Pekin Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with Pastor David Mills officiating. Burial will be in Bruton Family Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a member of the United Church of God and an employee of the city of Hampton, Va., in the zoning department.

Surviving are mother, Nancy Bruton Burgess of the home; sister, Joyce Russell of Seven Lakes.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, and other times at the home.

Thomas J. Mohan
CARTHAGE - Thomas J. Mohan, 68, of 501 McReynolds St., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Carthage Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Coffey and Deacon Mike Mirande officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill cemetery with military graveside rites.

He was a native of Proctor, Vt., a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in horticulture and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict period. He was a member of the Commemorative Air Force at the Moore County Airport, a former manager at Pinehurst R.V. Resort and of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are wife, Helen MacDonald Mohan; daughter, Betsy Pilson of Carthage; sons, Jeff Mohan of Haymarket, Va., Maj. Chris Mohan of Southern Pines, Patrick Mohan of Sanford; nine grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 6-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Maranda Jane Hoover Rich, 85, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Mariner Health Care of Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Smyrna Grove Community Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of George W. Rich and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Ruby Cagle of Asheboro; son, Harvey Rich of Sophia; sister, Dorothy Thompson of Asheboro; one grandchild.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.

Dempsey G. Voncannon
ASHEBORO - Dempsey Goodman Voncannon, 72, of 2427 Old Humble Mill Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Spoons Chapel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Frank Barrett and the Rev. Warren Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was native of Randolph County and self-employed. He attended Landmark Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Paige Hall Voncannon of the home; sisters, Frances Bullins and Margaret Shelton, both of Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Charles Hardee Welborn, 77, of 1926 Willow Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. C. Gene Booker and the Rev. Michael Holder officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired custodial supervisor with Randolph Community College and a member of Jordan United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Nancy Routh Welborn; sister, Chloe Jones of Ramseur.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are parents, Walter Lamont Williams and Christal Elizabeth Milton, both of Asheboro; sisters, Kayla Devon Cheek and Tierra Lashaye Williams, both of the home; grandparents, Walter Lee Hill and Elaine Williams, both of Mt. Gilead, Terry Wayne and Kaye Milton of Morganton, Toni Elizabeth Gathings of Norwood; great-grandmother, Marie Wensil of Nashville, Tenn.; great-great-grandmother, Lizzie Vanhoy of Albemarle.

The family will be at the church 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

RANDLEMAN - Joyce Lynn Hall Adams, 69, of 117-D Church St., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

No funeral service is planned.

Surviving are sons, Michael Adams of Randleman, Bill Montgomery and Cecil Montgomery, both of Greensboro; daughter, Laura Perkins of Red Oak, Va.

Carrie B. Farlow
RANDLEMAN - Carrie Blakeley Farlow, 103, of 400 Vision Drive, Asheboro, formerly of Randleman, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. David McCauley officiating. Burial will be in New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sons, J.C. Farlow Jr. of Randleman, E. Frank Farlow of Indian Trail; daughters, Peggy F. Redding of Sophia, Evelyn F. Brown of Randleman; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

T. Keith White
TRINITY - T. Keith White, 78, of 4246 Hoover Hill Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Randall A. Quate, the Rev. Reece Wall and the Rev. Doug Davis officiating. Burial will be in the meeting cemetery with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a retired plantation superintendent with Chevron Oil Co. in Hardeeville, S.C., and a retired plumber. He was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class at his church, a former member of the water and soil conservation, a former game warden and a collector of and speaker on Civil War artifacts.

Surviving are wife, Emma Hill White of the home; daughter, Renee White of Trinity; brothers, Ray White, J.V. "Buck" White and Charles White, all of Archdale, Bobby White of Asheboro; sisters, Mary Lee Morgan, Doris Canter, Carol Hicks, Rachel Hunsucker, all of Archdale, Sarah Ann Earnhardt of Emerald Isle.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
