Hazel W. Stuart
Hazel Weaver Stuart, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stuart was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wayne Stuart; daughter, Joyce Wayne Stuart and son, Johnny Wayne Stuart.
Surviving, daughter, Diana S. Howard of Garner; sons, Ricky Stuart and Mickey Stuart both of Fuquay-Varina, Allen Stuart of Raleigh; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Roberts of Erwin.
The family received friends on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at Thomas Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ricky and Joyce Stuart, 6536 Johnson Pond Road, Fuquay-Varina.
The Stuart family would like to thank Rex Nursing Care in Apex for the special care they gave her and the many friends and family who faithfully visited.
Helen Irene Schenk
Helen Irene Schneck, 73, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003. Memorial service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.
Surviving, daughters, Gail Bennettt of Apex, Lauren Schneck of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Eric Schneck of Apex; grandchildren, Stephanie Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Van Getter, Amanda Sell, Nicki Schneck, Renee Schneck.
The family received friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.

Douglas (Doug) Dwight Rowland
Douglas Dwight Rowland, 70, of 207 Lake Street, Fuquay-Varina, formerly of Willow Spring, passed away at his home on Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2003.
Doug was a U. S. Veteran having served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
Since his retirement from Leviton Manufacturing, Doug has enjoyed his time outdoors – golfing, fishing, and tinkering with anything mechanical.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carolyn (Carol) Hodges Rowland; six children, Susan Debevec of Wake Forest, Richard Rowland of Fuquay-Varina, Terri Pardue of Holly Springs, Tony Hodges of Willow Spring, Joy Dombrowski of Orange City, Florida and Paula Hellem of Holly Springs. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia Mitchell of Willow Spring and brothers, Bobby Rowland of Louisville, KY and Jimmy Rowland of Willow Spring along with 14 grandchildren.
His parents, Dwight C. Rowland and Elizabeth Callis Rowland and brother, Harry C. Rowland preceded him in death.
The memorial service was held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the funeral home.
He will be remembered by family and friends for his famous barbecues and fish fry, his quick wit, and his ability to make everyone laugh and have a good time.

Grey D. Sherman
Grey Daniel Sherman, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Burial, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving, daughters, Phyllis S. Baker and husband, Preston, Patsy Giuliani all of Fuquay-Varina, Linda Jones of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kelly Senter, Elias Jones, Stephen Giuliani, John Baker, Kristina Baker; great grandchild, Markie Senter.
The family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Thomas Funeral Home and other times at the home of Phyllis and Preston Baker, 500 Community Drive, Fuquay-Varina.

Donna Tarkington Waters, 44, died Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6 at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 4000 Kildaire Farm Road, Apex. Graveside service 3:30 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, NC.
Surviving, husband, Randy Waters; son, Doug Waters of the home; parents, Gerald and Carolyn Tarkington of Plymouth; sisters, Kelly Bailey of Angier, Elaine Tarkington of Fuquay-Varina; maternal grandmother, Marie Beauchemin of Williamston.

Maybelle Bryant Dean, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 28. Funeral service was 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2003 at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, Dean Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Bryant and a daughter, Annette Bryant.Surviving, husband, Calvin Dean; son, Gerald Mills and wife, Sue of Fuquay-Varina; step-daughter, Penny Jo Smith of Fuquay-Varina; step-son, Bennie Dean of Fuquay-Varina; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Mozelle Emory of Kipling; brothers, Robert Wood and J. D. Wood both of Fuquay-Varina, Arthur Junior Wood of Angier.
