Arturo Cocatana Chavez

Arturo Cocatana Chavez, 57, of Apex, son of the late Zacarias Chavez and his surviving mother, Felicidad Chavez, died April 7.
He was born in the Philippines and remained a Filipino citizen. He migrated to the United States on Nov. 3, 1977. He was predeceased by an older brother, Rogelio Chavez.
He is survived by his former wife, Karen Spencer, and daughters, Christina and Maria Chavez, all of Kittery, Maine; and another daughter, Laurie Chavez of San Diego, Calif. There are four sisters and three brothers surviving, Manuel Chavez, the oldest, of Portsmouth, N.H., Irene C. Gackle of Honolulu, Hawaii, Amparo C. Registrado of Apex, Ofelia C. Bayhon of Holly Springs, Lolita C. Drabinowiez of Hudson, N.H., Amadeo C. Chavez of San Diego, Calif., and Edgardo C. Chavez of Woodbridge, Va.; as well as 15 nieces and nephews.
Visitations were from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Apex Funeral Home. A prayer service was held at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. Andrew The Apostle Catholic Church in Apex. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, donations will be greatly appreciated.

Ann N. Ingram
Ann N. Ingram, 69, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert W. Ingram of Cary; two daughters, Susan Ingram Tribble and son-in-law, Lewis of Charlotte and Kari Ingram of Winston-Salem; and one granddaughter, Kate Elizabeth Tribble of Charlotte.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. The family received friends following the service, which Pastor James Boyte officiated.

Tommy Carlton Seagroves
Tommy Carlton Seagroves, 62, of Morrisville died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, after a courageous six-year battle with multiple melanoma. He was the son of the late Beulah Farrell and William Seagroves and a member of the First Baptist Church in Morrisville.
A funeral service celebrating his life was held Friday, April 15, at the Apex Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Myron Yandle officiating. Burial followed in the Apex Cemetery.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Janet M. Seagroves of the home; two brothers and their wives, Wallace and Paula Seagroves of Durham and Graham and Nancy Seagroves of Rougemont; three sisters and their husbands, Christine and Clarence Herndon of Durham, Sandra and Chuck Sirhan of Boca Raton, Fla., and Deborah and David Clark of Goldston; and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by a very special aunt, Edna Mann of Pittsboro, and a beloved pet, Jessi.
The family gives very special thanks to Dr. William R. Berry for his care of Tommy throughout his illness.

John C. Oatfield
John C. Oatfield, 79, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, April 15, 2005, at his home.
He was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., and had lived in Panama City Beach since 1995, moving there from Raleigh. Mr. Oatfield retired as a textile research engineer with Monsanto after 31 years of service. During his research years, he was credited with 14 patents in the textile, aerospace and medical fields.
John's early education was in England. He and his two sisters moved to the United States to escape the London Blitz during World War II and to continue his education, with John graduating from N.C. State University. John had been very active in the past eight years in the development of the Panama City Beach Senior Center, and was a regular volunteer for triathlon and Iron Man races.
In North Carolina, John was an Explorer Scout leader, swim team organizer and instructor, member and instructor in the U.S. Squadron Power and a Lions Club member. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps 6th Division in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lily W. Oatfield of Panama City Beach; his children, Allison Carol Oatfield Franklin of Raleigh, William John Oatfield of Denver, Colo., Jennifer Susan Oatfield of Chicago, Ill., Patricia Lynn Oatfield Prince of Fairview and Donald Richard Oatfield of Panama City Beach, Fla.; one sister, Susan Oatfield Arnest of Wytheville, Va.; and his grandchildren, Heather Franklin Pleasant of Johnston County, Christin Prince of Durham, Alex Oatfield Hashioka of Chicago and Justin Prince of Fairview.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Panama City Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating.

Margaret Robinson English Henley
Margaret Robinson English Henley, 100, of Raleigh died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Stewart Health Center at Springmoor.
She was born Feb. 3, 1905 in Montgomery County, to the late Daniel Franklin Robinson and Dicey Eula Bruton Robinson. She was a charter member of Cary Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Hood English. After Arthur's death, she married Earl Henley, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters from her marriage to Arthur, Margaret Anne English Smith and husband, William, and Carolyn English Harris and husband, Terry V., all of Raleigh; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Montlawn Memorial Park. A brief memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Stewart Health Center at Springmoor, first floor dining room, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh. The Rev. Phyllis Mayo will officiate both.
The family received friends on Wednesday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

William Richard Keyes
William Richard Keyes, 55, of Raleigh, died Sunday, April 17, 2005. He was born in Guilford County on July 16, 1949 and was a former employee with the AD-PAK in Raleigh.
He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Keyes is survived by his wife, Nancy Williams Keyes of the home; son, William James Boren Keyes of the home; and his mother, Mrs. Margaret Boren Keyes of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his father, William James Keyes.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

Kathryn Holland Sessoms
Sept. 4, 1915-April 19, 2005
Kathryn Holland Sessoms, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, after many years of declining health and illness. She was born the eighth of 12 children to Katie L. Tew and Herbert Lee Holland. She attended schools in Wake County and graduated from Apex High School. After her marriage, she lived in Apex and worked as a homemaker and mother of three. Kathryn began her career with the American Red Cross after her children completed high school and retired after serving for 15 years in the service to military families division.
Kathryn was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, William C. "Bill" Sessoms, and 10 siblings. Surviving family include daughters, Sandra L. Sessoms, M.D., of Houston, Texas, and Katie L. "Kathy" Sessoms of Apex; son, Richard A. "Andy" Sessoms of Zachary, La.; granddaughter, Suzanne S. Sikes and husband, Michael of Pittsboro; and grandson, David A. Sessoms and wife, Ashley of Kapolei, Hawaii. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Madeline Sessoms and Wiley Sikes; and one sister, Erma H. Raynor of Raleigh. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Special surviving loved ones include Janet H. Rowe, long-term caregiver, Rita A. Sears, John W. and June Pearson, Judith T. Woodell and many other close friends and neighbors. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Wake County, especially Erin, Barbara, Gwen, Nancy and Karen.
Apex Funeral Directors is handling arrangements. The family received guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Apex Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Services will be held in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21, with burial following in the Apex Cemetery.
