David Paul Latham
David Paul Latham, 57, of 7905 Tulip Circle died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at his home. David was employed with Martin Architectural Products for more than 20 years. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam era.
A memorial service was held Saturday morning, April 10, at Apex Funeral Home Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Crum Latham; brother, Donald R. Latham of Charlotte; six nieces and nephews; and three grandnephews. He also leaves behind his faithful cats, Daisy and Merlin.
The family received friends Saturday morning at Apex Funeral Home and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SPCA of Wake County David Latham Memorial Fund, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603. An area in the adoption center will be named in memory of Mr. Latham.
Frederick Edwin Bishop
Frederick Edwin Bishop, 85, of Asheville, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, while traveling in California.
A native of Apex, he was the son of the late William Landis and Lillie Laire Jones Bishop and the husband of the late Peggy Cobb Bishop, who died in 1997.
He was an active and vital member of Central United Methodist Church where he taught the Covenant Sunday school class in years past and was the mentor for the Discovery Sunday school class. The Discovery class was a group of young people who became like family to both Fred and Peg. Another group that he was involved with was the Emmaus family. His first Emmaus walk was in 1984, after which he sponsored countless people into this fellowship of believers. He also sponsored many foreign exchange students. His love for mentoring young people and helping to bring them to a relationship with Jesus Christ was what he lived for.
He also enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions, and refinishing furniture in his shop at home. Music was a very important part of his life. Fred played piano and was a choir director. One of his favorite things to do was to play the piano in the fellowship hall at church between services for members to sing and enjoy during coffee hour.
Fred is survived by his daughters Janella B. Necko and her husband Val of Greensboro, and Louanna B. Buck and her husband David Buck of Rocky Mount; a brother, David Bishop of Raleigh; sisters, Anne Baker of Raleigh and Hillary Waddell of Charlotte; and four grandchildren, Cameron and Lauren Necko, and Stevie and Ebby Buck.
A funeral service was held Friday morning, April 9, at Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert M. Blackburn Jr., the Rev. Christen H. Matlick and the Rev. Dr. Richard Smyth officiated. Interment followed at Lewis Memorial Park. The family received friends Thursday evening, April 8, at Morris Funeral Home.

Grace S. Gugliotti
Grace S. Gugliotti, 83, of Cary went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 8, 2004. Grace is fondly remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother by her family.
She was a dedicated teacher and reading consultant for all of her adult life. Her greatest joy was in helping others and in teaching both children and adults. She had a great love for reading, gardening, birds, sewing and quilting, and she shared these gifts with everyone around her. We rejoice that this year she is spending Easter and eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by one daughter, Myrna Cooper and husband Wade of Cary; one son, Ralph Gugliotti and wife Grace of Rosamond, Calif.; three sisters, Mildred Powers and Margaret Powers, both of Thayer, Kan., and Dorothy Tobler of California; four grandchildren, Ashley and Trey Cooper of Cary, Carrie Axelberd of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Danny Gugliotti of East Haddam, Conn.
A funeral service was held Monday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at the Cary Alliance Church in Cary. The family received friends Monday morning, April 12, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

Donald James Beach
Donald James Beach, 78, of Summerfield, Fla., died Friday, April 9, 2004 in Apex.
Mr. Beach was born in Chicago, Ill., to Roger and Mary Mowatt Beach. He attended Beloit College. Mr. Beach served his country in the 86th Infantry Division, Company A, 341st Regiment during World War II in Germany and later in the Philippines. He worked for 25 years at Flexible Steel Lacing Company in Chicago while living in Indiana before moving to the Outer Banks. Mr. Beach, along with his partner Wayne Gray, owned and operated Queen Anne’s Revenge Restaurant for 20 years in Wanchese. Mr. Beach retired to Summerfield, Fla., in 1998. Mr. Beach was a communicant at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, Fla., where he was a Lay Eucharistic minister and Cursillista. He was a recent past president of Stonecrest Veterans Club and a member of East Coast Club and Pebbles Club. Mr. Beach was an avid tennis player.
He is survived by his wife, June T. Beach; children, Deborah Taylor of Greenwood, Ind., James Beach and wife Georgia of Manteo, Nancy Gray and husband Wayne of Wanchese, Melissa Creamer and husband Kurt of Apex, Laurie Cavey and husband Pete of Harrisonburg, Va., Tori Tolley and husband Larry of Fairbanks, Ark., and Buddy Overman of Kill Devil Hills; sister-in-law, Shirley Beach of Leesburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Audrey, Nathan, Bryan, Russel, Kimberly, Keil, Rheana, Beach, Katie, Vaughn, Maggie, Ian, Hayley, Caleb and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Parker and Ella; and four nieces and nephews.
His brother, Roger Beach, preceded Mr. Beach in death.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 15, at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, Fla.

Kassel Aaron Smit
Kassel A. Smit, 16, of Cary died Monday, April 12, 2004. Kassel was dearly loved and respected by so many who have been blessed to have known him and been a part of his life. Kassel was a Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member. He was a junior at Cary High School and was a member of the Cary High School cross country and track teams, and drama club, and was on the A/B Honor Roll.
He is survived by his mother and father, Kevin and Theresa Smit of Cary; one brother, Kiehl Smit of Cary; maternal grandmother, Helen Blaisdell of Hemet, Calif., paternal grandmother, Glorianna Smit of Lady Lake, Fla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a vast number of friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 16, 2004 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 218 S. Academy St., Cary. The Rev. Sam Laing will be officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road.

Breann Nicole Gentz
"We all Love You."
Breann Nicole Gentz, 15, of Apex died Monday, April 12, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident.
Breann was a student at Apex High School. Her smiling face will be never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 15, at Apex Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Rice officiating.
Breann is survived by her father, Clinton J. Gentz and his wife Connie of Charlotte; mother, Ann Marie Gentz of Apex; paternal grandmother, Shirley Walker and husband Fred of Squim, Wash.; paternal grandfather, Raymond Gantz of Monroe, Wash.; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Susan Civilinski of Charlotte; great-grandmother, Maude Franklin of England; stepbrother, Jacob Myers; stepsisters, Jessica and Heather Myers of Charlotte; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Flowers are welcome.
LaRue B. McGhee
LaRue B. McGhee, 77, of Raleigh, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 3, 2004.
LaRue is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Thorny, and four loving children: Phyllis McLamb and husband John, Sheryl Watson and husband Bruce, Carl McGhee and wife Sharon, and Mark McGhee. She has 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Dot Mulholland, Pansy Womble and husband Wallace, Marilyn Martin and husband David, Jessie Lesher and husband Joe, and Sue Holcomb. Her sister, Margaret Mitchell, and brother, Buddy Broadwell, proceeded her in death.
She loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a counselor at a Christian camp for more than 30 years and taught many women’s Bible studies and Good News Clubs. She was also instrumental in starting the Christian Women’s Conference at Faith Bible Fellowship in Raleigh.
She never stopped telling people what the Lord had done for her on Calvary.
Funeral services were held at Apex Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Durham.
The family received friends at Apex Funeral Home on Monday evening, April 5, and at other times at the home of Thorny McGhee, 5141 Milner Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606.
Robert Earl Ennis
Robert E. Ennis, 53, died April 2, 2004.
He is survived by two daughters, Rachel King of Cary and Kellie Cooper of Morrisville; two sons, Matthew Ennis and Stephen Ennis, both of Cary; his mother, Sylvia I. McCown and stepfather, Hank McCown of Cary; a sister, Ann Mann of Cary; four grandchildren, Jacob King of Cary, Cole and Camden Cooper of Morrisville, and Alyssa Ennis of Cary; and his former wife, Linda Ennis Price of Cary.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. The Rev. Jerry Parker officiated.
