John N. Sutton
Funeral Services for John Norwood Sutton, 88 of Evanston, WY were held Tuesday, January 18, 2005 in Evanston. He passed away January 12, 2005 in Evanston.
Sut was born on March 23, 1916, the son of Harvey and Ellen Oleson Sutton at Lisbon, ND. He grew up and attended school in Lisbon, graduating from the Lisbon High School in 1934. Sut as he was known by many, started his career in watch repair in 1935 in Lisbon. He later moved to Lewistown, MT where he worked as a watch repairman.
Sut enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He served in the Pacific Theater and achieved the rank of Platoon Sgt. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Sut returned to Lewistown where he met his future wife, Vera Stevenson. They were united in marriage on June 10, 1950 near Merrill, WI at a small Bible Camp. In 1956 Sut and Vera with two small children moved to Evanston, WY where they purchased the Jewelry Store. Together they operated it and raised their family for the next forty plus years. Sut was a past President of the Inner Mountain Jewelers Association, a member of the American Gem Society, a life member of the Evanston V. F. W. and the Elks Club. Sut was an avid skier and golfer for many years. Sut really enjoyed skiing after the age of 80 since most of the ski resorts would give a free lift pass to anybody over this age. He always stated that now I am finely getting some of my money back. Even after his bypass surgery, his plan was to return to the slopes.
His special love was always for his wife, Vera who passed away in 1990, his children and his two grandchildren. Survivors include: a daughter, Pamela Sutton of Salt Lake City, UT; a son, Keith Sutton of Evanston, WY; two grandchildren: Brittany and Chase Sutton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vera; three brothers: Phillip, Donavan and Melford; and a sister, Dorothy.
Stevenson-Mischel-Olson, Dickinson was in charge of arrangements.

Doris J. Motl
Funeral services for Doris J. Motl, 82, Mandan, were held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church, Mandan. Reverend Charles Axness officiated. Mrs. Motl died Sunday, January 16, 2005.
Doris J. Hanson, daughter of Ole and Gina (Fragodt) Hanson was born on January 1, 1923 at Nortonville, ND. The family later moved to rural Marion and finally to Fort Ransom where Doris received her education. Doris worked for a farmer in Casselton while attending ninth grade and later for Dr. Merrett in Marion as a child caregiver and housekeeper. The family moved to Valley City.
On October 19, 1945, she married Lloyd Motl. They began their married life in Valley City and in 1952 moved to Mandan. Doris was active in the hospital auxiliary as a gift shop volunteer and delivered meals on wheels for over 20 years. She also served her church as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Ruth Circle, a World Relief quilt and soap maker.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, Mandan, her daughter, Donna (Arlen) Rothert, Binford; son, Dave (Ellie) Motl, Mandan; four grandchildren; one brother Orville (Alice) Hanson, Lisbon and sister-in-law, Vivian Hanson, Fullerton; two sisters, Gladys (Alvin) Wanner, Hewitt, MN, and Ruby (Sidney) Peterson, Litchfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Albert, Ludvig, Oscar and Clifford and her sister Mabel Kaupang.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck

Alma Thimjon
Funeral services for Alma Johnson Thimjon, 86, Milnor, ND, were held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Milnor Lutheran Church. Reverend Priscilla Hukki officiated. Mrs. Thimjon died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, MN.
Alma Odegard, daughter of Peder and Kari (Sannes) Odegard was born on May 12, 1918, near Milnor. She grew up and attended country school in Shuman Township and graduated from Milnor High School with the class of 1936.
On July 17, 1936, she married Ernest W. Johnson in Webster, SD. The couple farmed in the Milnor area until 1955, when they moved into town. Alma worked for a local restaurant and also at the Milnor Creamery, before cooking at the Milnor Public School for many years. Ernest died on July 22, 1965.
Alma lived in Milnor until August of 1981 when she married Marvin Thimjon and moved to Wahpeton. Marvin died in 1985. Alma continued to live in Wahpeton until 1997 when she returned to Milnor. Alma was a member of the Milnor Lutheran Church and long time member of the Eagles Club in Wahpeton.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet (Rev. Gerald) Carlson, Enderlin; one daughter-in-law, Karen Johnson, West Fargo; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hannah Schutt, Milnor and Caroline Magelee, Hanska, MN. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, Ernald, her parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Bill Johnson, Cindy Yagow, Jack Carlson, Karl Carlson, Kari Carlson and Kevin Yagow.
Music was provided by organist Kim Mund and soloist Bob Schutt.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, near Milnor.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor, was in charge of arrangements.

Russell O. Wallace
Funeral services for Russell O. Wallace, 77, Gwinner, were held on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Josh Schunk and Reverend Lloyd Wallace officiated. Mr. Wallace died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Russell O. Wallace, son of Harry and Hazel (Anderson) Wallace was born on October 27, 1927 in Gwinner.
On October 17, 1948, he married Clarice Westra. The couple made their home and farmed northeast of Gwinner.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice, Fargo; three daughters, Pam (Paul) Orth, West Fargo, Peggy (Gary) Atherton, Moorhead, Cynthia (Gary) King, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Willard (Jody) Wallace, Billings, MT and Lloyd (Linda) Wallace, Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jeff Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Tim Rehborg, Paul Orth, Gary Atherton and Gary King.
Special music was provided by Jonathan and Carol Ydstie.
Interment at Gwinner City Cemetery.

Delores A. Devitt
Mass of Christian Burial for Delores A. Devitt, 70, Long Prairie, MN, was held on Monday, January 17, 2005 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Long Prairie. Reverend Mark Stang was celebrant. Mrs. Devitt died Thursday, January 13, 2005.
Delores A. Devitt, daughter of Clarence and Louise (Gooding) Rieger was born on March 16, 1934 in Lisbon.
On February 27, 1954, she married Michael A. Devitt, in Lisbon. They lived in Pierre, SD where Mike worked on the Oahe Dam. They moved to Long Prairie in 1961. They purchased a farm in Round Prairie Township and farmed for 20 years. Delores also worked for Long Prairie Pharmacy for 37 years retiring in 1998. The couple moved to town in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and Long Prairie VFW Auxiliary Post #1140. Her husband died on December 2, 2002.
She is survived by her sons, Steve (Lisa), Mount Vernon, WA, Michael (Jolene) Long Prairie, Patrick (Stacy) Apple Valley; five grandchildren; and four brothers, Jack, Lisbon, Bob, Lisbon, Gary, Lisbon and Tom (Arlene) Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Don and a sister, Clarice Ready.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Tom Hock, Romain Mueller, Loren Liesemeyer, Lloyd Burger, Elmer Sadlovsky and Darrel Peyton.
Interment at the parish cemetery, Long Prairie.

Cathy F. Iverson
Mass of Christian Burial for Cathy F. Iverson, 56, McVille, ND, formerly Cooperstown, was held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in St. George’s Catholic Church, Cooperstown. Mrs. Iverson died Saturday, January 15, 2005 in the Nelson County Health System - Hospital, McVille, under Hospice care.
Cathy Francine Laney, daughter of Joe and Marjorie Laney was born on March 23, 1948 in Mercy Hospital, Valley City. She attended school in Verona where she graduated from high school in 1966. She attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, UND, in Grand Forks, graduating in 1969. She was employed by St. John’s Hospital in Fargo. She was very active in the 4-H Program in Griggs County while living in Hannaford, ND. She moved to Valley City where she resumed her nursing career at Mercy Hospital.
On April 21, 1995, she married Jeffrey Iverson. They lived in Cooperstown, then moved to McVille. She continued to work in Mercy Hospital and also worked part-time in the McVille Hospital. She was an active member of St. George’s Catholic Church, Cooperstown.
She is survived by by her husband, Jeffrey Iverson, McVille; one son, Michael Wagoner, Sutton, ND; one daughter, Michelle Wagoner, Fargo; her parents, Joe and Marjorie Laney, Fargo; five sisters, Valerie (Glenn) Fogel, Fargo, Becky (Steve) Peterson, Hannaford, Dr. Mary (Ron) Allen, Scottsdale, AZ, Marlene (Tim) Dufault, Crookston, MN, Jill (Todd) York, Delano, MN, six brothers, Mark (Charlene), Dallas (Kathy), Raymond (Elizabeth), all of Fargo, Paul (Jackie) and Tim, Sioux Falls, SD, Joel (Joyce), Verona and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Joseph Wagoner.
Spring interment at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery, Verona.

Ronald L. Seavert
Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald L. Seavert, 58, Fairmount, ND, was held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Forman, ND. Reverend Father Tom Feltman, celebrant. Mr. Seavert died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at his home in Fairmount.
Ronald L. Seavert, son of Lee and Angeline (Bommersbach) Seavert was born on September 19, 1946. He graduated from Sargent Central High School in Forman and Valley City State Teachers College in Valley City. He started his teaching career in Minneota, MN.
In 1968, he married Judie Anderson. Ron returned to Sargent Central in 1975, this time as a teacher. He continued to teach and educate children until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement, Ron and Judie moved to Fairmount.
He is survived by his wife, Judie, Fairmount; daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Watson; two sons, Christopher Seavert, West Fargo, Brady Seavert, West Fargo; three grandchildren; one brother Jim Seavert, Champlain, MN; three sisters, Eileen (Mark) Huseth, McLeod, Kathy (Dick) Hayen, Cogswell, and Mary (Jim) Thorpe, Eagan, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jerome Josewski, Doug Freitag, Richard Colbert, Al Kjelden, Richard Hayen, Mike Seavert, Joel Grothe and Brian Josewski. Honorary casketbearers will be his Sargent Central School family.
Music was provided by organist Lindy Orn and soloist Deb Reinig.
Interment at Rutland Cemetery, Rutland.
Price Funeral Chapel, Forman, was in charge of arrangements.

Olive M. Buss
Funeral services for Olive M. Buss, 89, Lisbon, were held on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at AnselmTrinity Lutheran Church, rural Lisbon. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mrs. Buss died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo.
Olive Mae Buss, known as Olly, daughter of John and Maggie (Egge) Peterson was born on May 7, 1915 in Adrian, ND. She attended rural Dickey, ND schools. Oliver worked at various jobs in Dickey before her marriage.
On September 19, 1943, she married Lawrence O. Nohr. They farmed near Lisbon. He died September 20, 1949. She married Clifford C. Buss February 16, 1952 in rural Sheldon. They farmed near Sheldon. He died August 19, 1992. She moved to Lisbon in 1993. In August of 2004 she moved to Fargo.
She is survived by three daughters, Noreen (Henry) Halvorson, Fargo; Gail (Trent) Kinney, Fargo, Dixie (Mark) Lee, Jamestown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mae Altman, Lisbon and Luetta (Eugene) Cofell, Gilby, ND. She was preceded in death by her husbands and a son, Arthur James Nohr.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jim Wall, Bruce Altman, David Thompson, Dan Bunn, Gary Anderson and Kent Buss.
Music was provided by organists Holly and Janet Froemke and soloist Pat Olson.
Interment at Anselm Cemetery, rural Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
