Harvey A. Taylor
A graveside service for Harvey A. Taylor, 85, Lisbon, was held on Monday, March 7, 2005 at White Stone Hill Cemetery, near Gwinner, ND. The memorial service followed at the Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor. Reverend Priscilla Hukki officiated. Mr. Taylor died Thursday, March 3, 2005 in his home after battling cancer for the past couple of months.
Harvey Allen Taylor, son of Clyde and Pearl (Larson) Taylor was born on October 15, 1919 at their home in McHenry County, near Towner, ND. He attended school in Towner, where he graduated from high school with the class of 1937.
On April 2, 1962, he married Ardis Ringdahl. They raised Hereford cattle and Quarter horses in Aliceton Township, near Lisbon. Harvey was a 50-year member of the North Dakota Stockman’s Association. He was also one of the founders of the North Dakota Quarter Horse Association and one of the first directors of the organization. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon.
He is survived by his wife, Ardis; son, Miles, Lisbon; brother, Marshall “Bud” Taylor, Towner; sister, Betty Davidson, Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Music was provided by organist Kim Mund and soloist Larry Ketterling.
Interment at White Stone HIll Cemetery, near Gwinner.

Lief P. Karlstad
Funeral services for Lief P. Karlstad, 81, Mayville, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville. Mr. Karlstad died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Union Hospital, Mayville.
Lief Palmer Karlstad, son of Martin and Marit (Erickson) Karlstad was born on March 3, 1924 in Sherbrook Township, Steele County.
On June 6, 1944, he married Mae Whitehead in Hallock, MN. Lief was a Sgt. in the Army and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was honorably discharged in October of 1946. He returned to Mayville where he was employed as a salesman for International Harvester, Gambles, Groth John Deer Implement and Freiji John Deere Implement. He retired from Freiji Implement in 1986. Lief was honored for his support of Mayville State University athletics by being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Mae; daughter, Geri (Ralph) Johnson, Hutchinson, MN, Becky (Steve) Gunderson, Portland, Lisa (fiance Jon Klabo, Mayville) Rakowski; six grandchildren;five great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Pearl Swenson, Hillsboro, Margaret (Arne) Aasland, Frazee, MN, Hjalmer (Doris) Karlstad, Lisbon, Edith (Maynard) Strand, Portland, Paul (June) Karlstad, Portland, Ellen Ann (Ken) Bolstad, Valley City, sister-in-law Agnes Karlstad, Mayville and brother-in-law Aubrey Fillbrandt, Brainerd, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Beverly, brothers Edgar and Marvin, sister Marian Fillbrandt and son-in-law CW2 Anthony P. Rakowski.
Interment at Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.

Herbert A. Woodbury
Funeral services for Herbert A. Woodbury, 91, Wahpeton, ND, were held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Faith Evangelical Free Church, Wahpeton. Mr. Woodbury died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at his home in Wahpeton.
Herbert A. Woodbury, son of Byron and Mathilda (Pederson) Woodbury was born on June 19, 1913, near Abercrombie, ND. He grew up and attended school near Abercrombie, moving with his family to Mooreton in 1929, when he was in his early teens. In 1935, Herbert moved onto his farm in Sheyenne Township, McLeod where he made his home and farmed for 40 years.
On October 26, 1941, he married Ragna Haugen at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. While on the farm Herbert served on the Sheyenne Valley Grazing Board for seven years, was clerk of the township and school board for many years and trustee of his church. Herbert and Ragna retired and moved to Wahpeton in 1976, where they lived for six years, moving to Wyndmere, returning to Wahpeton in 1985. They purchased a lake home on West McDonald Lake. He was a member of United Free Lutheran Church, rural McLeod, ND, Sons of Norway, Golden K, Wahpeton Senior Citizens Center and Red River Valley Woodcarvers.
He is survived by his wife, Ragna, Wahpeton; five children, Arnold (Lynn) Woodbury, Wyndmere, Howard (Joy) Woodbury, McLeod, Linda (Richard) Haberman, Barney, ND, Larry (Judy) Woodbury, McLeod, David (Paula) Woodbury, McLeod; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcia Clark, Bothell, WA; brother, Robert Woodbury, Puyalllup, WA; and two sisters-in-law, Velma Woodbury, Wahpeton and Arlene Haugen, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Mathilda Woodbury, two sisters, Eleanor Corliss and Agnes Williams and his brother, Ardy Woodbury and two infant brothers.
Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Eleanor M. Robertson
Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor M. Robertson, 60, Alexandria, MN, formerly Enderlin, was held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Al Ludwig was celebrant. Mrs. Robertson died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 following an eight month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Eleanor Mae Frederick, daughter of Vernon and Theda (Schwarz) Frederick was born on March 3, 1944 in Fargo. She graduated from Enderlin High School in Enderlin and furthered her education at Valley City State College, Valley City. On February 27, 1965, she married Larry Robertson in Enderlin. The Robertson family lived in Fargo, Grand Forks, Fergus Falls and for the last thirty-four years in Alexandria, MN. She is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Todd, Minneapolis, Kris, Minneapolis; daughter, Jill Nelson, Alexandria; two grandchildren; sister, Sharon Been, Dallas, TX; and brother, John Frederick, Detroit Lakes, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were Rod and Carol Karrow, Bill and Arlyn Davis, Mike and Mary Thompson and Gerry and Karen Stramer.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alexandria.

Arlene M. Jacobson
Funeral services for Arlene M. Jacobson, 90, Boulder, CO, were held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Crist Mortuary Chapel, Boulder, CO. Mrs. Jacobson died March 3, 2005 at the Boulder Good Samaritan Heath Center.
Arlene M. Jacobson, daughter of Delbert and Rosa (Sours) Ketcheson was born on November 25, 1916 in Milnor. She moved to Boulder in the early 1940s.
On July 26, 1942, she married Bernnett Jacobson in Boulder.
She is survived by one brother, Leslie Ketcheson, Emmett, ID; nephew, Bruce Smith, Lisbon and two special friends Tom Masterson and Barbara Lambert, Boulder. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Norena Smith.
Interment at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boulder, CO.
Crist Mortuary Chapel, Boulder, CO, was in charge of arrangements.

Thora Hagen
Funeral services for Thora Hagen, 93, Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in the Elim Care Center Chapel, Fargo. Mrs. Hagen died Saturday, March 5, 2005 in the Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Thora Wang was born on November 10, 1911 at Maddock, ND where she was raised and graduated from high school, the Benson County Agricultural School in 1930.
In 1932, she married Francis J. Bell near Flora, ND. They farmed near Flora, where they raised three children. She married Johnnie Hagen in 1945 at Maddock, where they farmed and raised two sons. They moved to Fargo in 1970. Mr. Hagen died in 1980. Thora has resided in the Elim Care Center for the past five years.
She is survived by three sons, Francis O. (Delores) Bell, Lisbon, Arthur D. Hagen, Mesa, AZ, Kenneth A. (Della) Hagen, Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Dagne Sundell, Washington.
Pallbearers for the funeral were her grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Ruth Fossum and soloist, Craig Olson.
Interment at North Viking Cemetery, Maddock, ND.

Donald E. Erickson
Funeral services for Donald E. Erickson, 74, Fargo, ND, were held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Erickson died Friday, March 4, 2005 in Villa Maria, Fargo, after a battle with Alzheimers.
Donald E. Erickson, son of Oscar and Crystal (Selig) Erickson was born on April 12, 1930 in McLeod, ND, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952, after which he moved to Fargo.
On February 20, 1959, he married Beatrice “Pat” Jacob in Fargo. Donald worked for Northwest Beverages, Inc., Fargo as an over-the-road truck driver, retiring in 1992. He entered the nursing home in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, Fargo; a daughter, Roxann (Curtis) Larson, Moorhead, MN; a son, Rodney (Jeni), Fargo; two grandchildren; one brother, Harlyn (Flora), Beloit, WI; three sisters-in-law, Bernice (Vernon) Whaley, MN, Thelma (Bud) Schaeffer, Bismarck and Evelyn Jacob, Kindred, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Della Swenson
Funeral services for Della Swenson, 89, Valley City, ND, were held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Church of the Nazarene in Valley City. Reverend Mark Hale officiated. Mrs. Swenson died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Della Emma Magnuson, daughter of Samuel and Emma (Hass) Magnuson was born on January 19, 1916 in Ashtabula Township of Barnes County near Valley City. She grew up and attended rural school at Grand Prairie School and graduated high school there.
On March 8, 1938, she married Barney Swenson in Frazee, ND. The couple then lived in Valley City where they managed the Barnes County Municipal Airport. Mr. Swenson died on December 26, 1976. Della continued to live in Valley City where she was the secretary for many years at the Assembly of God Church. Della became a resident of the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on January 16, 2004. She is survived by one son, Gary (Claire) Swenson, Valley City; one daughter, Margaret (Larry) Bessette, Valley City; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Magnuson, Butte, MT and LeRoy (Karen) Magnuson, Valley City; and four sisters, Adeline (Paul) Zaun and Evelyn Zaun, all Valley City, Helen Gilbo, Port Orchard, WA and Betty Ann Englehart, Spokane, WA.
Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City, in the spring.

Hubert V. Kulla
Funeral services for Hubert V. Kulla, 79, Kensal, ND, were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal. Father Steven Meyer officiated. Mr. Kulla died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck.
Hubert Vincent Kulla, son of Stanley and Dorothy (Schultz) Kulla was born on October 28, 1925 in Eldridge, ND. He attended school in Eldridge and moved with his family to Kensal in 1936 where he continued with high school. Hubert entered the U.S. Navy in June 1943. He served on the USS Charles Ausborne DD570, a destroyer. He returned to Kensal following his discharge in 1946. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science then returned to a job with the Stutsman County Road Dept.
On May 8, 1954, he married Mary Ellen Turner at Kensal. They made Kensal their home. He retired in 1987. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Kensal American Legion Post, both Kensal and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Barbara (Dean) Messmer, Bismarck, Renee (Todd) Klipfel, Bismarck, Judy Kulla, Jamestown; one son, Robb (Deone), Enderlin; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Jean), Kensal; and two sisters, Madeline (Vern) Kehoe, Portland, OR and Sharon (Harry) Sherlock, Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, George, Matthew, Pete, Stanley and Donald.
Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements.
