Paul V. Heaton
Funeral Mass for Paul V. Heaton, 95, Las Vegas, NV, was celebrated on Saturday, Apr. 29, 2006, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon, with Father Jerald Finnestad celebrant. Mr. Heaton died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas.
Paul V. Heaton, son of Thomas and Anna (Lack) Heaton, was born November 11, 1910 at rural Fargo. He attended St. Mary’s Academy in Fargo and graduated from Lisbon High School.
On April 25, 1942, he married Ellevine C. Pletan at Detroit, MI. They lived in Detroit and Vancouver where Paul worked for Mobil Oil. They returned to Lisbon in 1954 where Paul worked at Heaton Oil. He retired in 1980. In 1981 he moved to Las Vegas. Ellevine died May 8, 1984.
Paul is survived by a son, Myron, Las Vegas, NV; one grandson; and a sister, Dorothy Falk, Moorhead, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellevine, and two sisters, Margueritte Dahlke and Frances Litavec.
Pallbearers were Myron Heaton, David Heaton, Ross Cole, Thomas Hasbrook, Wayne Freeberg, and Gerald Berube.
Music was provided by organist Genell Carlson and cantor Sylvia Holmstrom.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kelci Jo Willson
Funeral services for Kelci Jo Willson, 14, Golden Valley, MN, were held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Golden Valley High School Gymnasium, Golden Valley. Rev. Kris Nyman officiated. Miss Willson died Sunday, April 30 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Kelci Jo Willson, daughter of Tim and Patricia (Legge) Willson, was born September 11, 1991 at Concord, NH. When she was three, her family moved to Moorcraft, WY. In 1996 they moved to Mooreton, ND. She attended school at Wyndmere Public School, kindergarten through the first part of seventh grade. She was involved in dance camp, basketball, volleyball, band, playing piano, figure skating, Richland County Dakota Mustangs 4-H, and horses. She attended Mooreton Lutheran Church.
In 2003, Kelci was crowned Rodeo Princess at Fort Ransom. In 2004 she was crowned Ransom County Princess. Her family moved to the Golden Valley area in November 2004, where she attended Golden Valley Public School and was an eighth grader. There, she was active in volleyball, basketball, track, band, math olympics and acalympics, confirmation, Mercer County Galloping Ghosts 4-H, and the Mercer County Hippology Team.
She is survived by her parents, Tim and Pat, Golden Valley; one sister, Danielle Little, Fargo, ND; grandparents, Marlys and Kenneth Willson, Litchville, ND and Arlene Reid, Valley City, ND, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kelci was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jim Legge; step-grandfather, Ray “Doc” Reid; uncle, Tony Legge, and nephew, Cody Joseph Little.
Interment at Spring Creek Cemetery, rural Golden Valley.
Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen, ND, was in charge of arrangements.

Arnold L. Shupe
Private services were held for Arnold L. Shupe, 77, Forman, formerly Lisbon, with Rev. Norm Anderson officiating. Mr. Shupe died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Four Seasons Health Care, Forman.
Arnold L. Shupe, son of Allen and Leona (Thompson) Shupe, was born December 15, 1928 at Leland, Iowa.
On June 12, 1958 he married Bernita M. Flatt Scott at Big Sandy, MT.
Arnold lived in Iowa and Montana from 1955 to 1967. He farmed near Oklee, MN from 1967-1970. From 1970-1971 he worked at Finley Grain Elevator. He worked at Bobcat as a truck driver from 1971-1990. His wife, Bernita died April 16, 1990.
He is survived by four daughters: Connie (Vernon) Turk, Ekalaka, MT, Shirley (David L.) Anderson, Trail, MN, Glenda (Charles E.) Worral, Loma, MT, and Pennie (Larry) Erdmann, Milnor; two sons: Rick (Tracy), Prior Lake, MN, and Edward (Kimberly), Plymouth, MN; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernita, and a granddaughter.
Music for the service was provided by Mary Jo Smith.
Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge arrangements.

LeRoy E. Schoeszler
Funeral service for LeRoy E. Schoeszler, 84, Oakes, were held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Stirum, with Rev. Kirk Douglas officiating. Mr. Schoeszler died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the Oakes Community Hospital.
LeRoy Elroy Schoeszler, son of George and Amelia (Lesser) Schoeszler, was born July 27, 1921 in Allegany Township near Englevale, where he grew up and attended rural school. After his schooling, he farmed with his father, later taking over the family farm.
In 1975, LeRoy retired from farming and moved to Oakes where he worked at James Valley Implement and Economy Oil. In 2001, he became a resident at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center.
He is survived by two sisters, Lorraine (Roy) Chesley, Oakes, and Helen (Dean) Humphrey, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gerhardt and Carl.
Pallbearers were David Schoeszler, Douglas Schoeszler, Delvin Schoeszler, Lawrence Schoeszler, Alan Leadbetter, Tom Calkins, LaRoy Chesley, Jake Chesley, John Chesley, Randy Anderson, Larry Humphrey, Barry Humphrey and John Goodyear.
Music was provided by organist Gloria Bock.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, was in charge of arrangements.

Ardis Schobinger
Funeral services for Ardis Schobinger, 81, Minot, were held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Minot. Mrs. Schobinger died Tuesday, Feb. 14, in a Minot nursing home.
Ardis Helen Thompson, daughter of Elmer and Ida (Germanson) Thompson, was born on May 12, 1924, in Lisbon, ND. She was raised and educated in the Lisbon area and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1942.
On March 22, 1944, she married Melford “Mel” Schobinger in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Enderlin, ND, Fargo, ND, Miles City, MT, Glendive, MT, and Williston, ND. In 1962, the family moved to Minot. In 1963, she started working as a waitress at the American Legion Club. She then worked at the Eagles Aerie Club and Chances “R” in Minot. She retired from waitressing in the early 1980s. In March of 1998, she entered Edgewood Vista. In January, 2001, she entered Trinity Homes in Minot. Mel passed away on October 13, 2004.
Ardis was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Minot, the Strawberry Lake Association, the Eagles Aerie Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, Jack (Myra) Schobinger, Virginia Beach, VA; four daughters, Janet (Henry) Boe, Fargo, Roxy (David) Uhlich, Tioga, Joyce (Myron) Bauer, Green Bay, WI, and Rae (Joel) Hoffer, Minot; 16 grandchildren; one sister, Leona Olson, Leonard, ND, and one sister-in-law, Virginia Schobinger, Buffalo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melford; brother, Tom Thompson; three brothers-in-law, Gordon Olson, Allen Schobinger, and Lloyd “Pee Wee” Waldahl, and two sisters-in-law, Lillian Thompson and Roslyn Waldahl.

Lydia Mathias
Funeral services for Lydia Mathias, 93, Gwinner, were held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Stirum, ND. Rev. Kirk Douglas officiated. Mrs. Mathias died Thursday, Feb. 16, at Oakes Good Samaritan Center, Oakes, ND.
Lydia Wertz Mathias, daughter of Henry and Marie (Stohr) Wertz was born on October 11, 1912, near Lisbon. She grew up in the Sargent County area, where she attended rural schools.
On June 26, 1935, she married Arthur W. Mathias at Gwinner. They made their home and farmed near Gwinner until 1943, when they purchased a farm near Stirum. Mr. Mathias died on October 11, 1980. In 1981, Lydia moved to Gwinner, and in January, 2006, she became a resident of the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. Lydia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was active in the LWML.
She is survived by one son, Don (Georgia) Mathias, Stirum; one daughter, Doreen (Richard) Beaver, Gwinner; one sister, Martha Mathias, Oakes; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; two brothers, Peter and Henry; two sisters, Mary Baker and Kathryn Olson, and a grandson, Mark Beaver.
Pallbearers for the funeral were James Beaver, Troy Beaver, Michelle Laude, Cynthia Grothmann, Donna Manske, Arlan Mathias, Arlene Lovgren, and Curt Mathias.
Music was provided by organist Pat Gemar, a duet by Pastor Kirk and Tammy Douglas, and pianist Briana Grothmann and soloist James Beaver.
Interment at Oakes View Cemetery near Oakes.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, was in charge of arrangements.

Joyce B. Duval
Joyce B. Duval, 79, Minnetonka, MN, died on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, under the care or Hospice, at North Memorial Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor, ND.
Joyce B. Duval, daughter of Logan and Inga (Dietzler) Duval, was born on March 22, 1926. She attended rural school near Milnor and graduated from Milnor High School in 1944. In the fall of 1944, she moved to Minneapolis and enrolled in business school. While living in Minneapolis, she worked for the Stadium Cafe, Federal Reserve Bank, and Honeywell.
Joyce started her career as a dental assistant in 1946 and continued for the next 28 years. In 1984, she moved to Minnetonka and lived with her sister, Phyllis, for many years. In 1997, they moved to their current apartment in Minnetonka. She also worked with the elderly as a home care companion.
Joyce is survived by three brothers, Lowell (Beverley) Duval, Lisbon, ND, Orville (Sharon) Duval, Wishek, ND, and Warren (Sharon) Duval, New Rockford, ND, and one sister, Phyllis Stanton, Minnetonka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Duval, and two sisters, Myrtle Duval and Shirley Duval Roth.
Washburn-McReavy Davies Chapel, Minneapolis, was in charge of arrangements.
