Jean F. Dahl
Funeral services for Jean F. Dahl, 70, Fargo, were held on Monday, May 13, 2002 at Hope Lutheran Church-North Campus, Fargo. Mrs. Dahl died on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Jean Roney, daughter of Arthur T. and Dorothy J. Roney, was born on August 27, 1913 in Nome, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Leonard, graduating in 1949. She attended UND in Grand Forks and then taught grade school in rural Kindred.
On June 7, 1951, she married Ernest L. Dahl in Leonard. They spent most of their married life in Fargo. Jean worked as a cook at the Sons of Norway and as a cook and Sunday school teacher at Hope Lutheran Church-North Campus. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was active in the League of Women Voters.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Dahl, Fargo; two sons, Mark (Gena) Dahl and Jeffrey (Kathy) Dahl; one daughter, Marsha Dahl; one sister, Donna (Robert) Ludtke, Enderlin; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Roney; and one sister-in-law, Marian Roney.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Marvin L. Libak
Funeral services for Marvin L. Libak, 75, Fort Ransom, were held on Monday, May 13, 2002 at Standing Rock Lutheran Church, Fort Ransom. Reverend David Carlson officiated. Mr. Libak died on Thursday, Mary 9, 2002 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Marvin L. Libak, son of Martin L. and Helen E. (Sunne) Libak, was born on November 6, 1926 in rural Fort Ransom. He attended the Kvalnes School in Northland Township, near Fort Ransom. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947. During this time, he served in the European Theatre.
On August 14, 1949, he married Elsa Mae Sandhei in Fort Ransom. They farmed until 1955, then moved to Seattle, Wash. Marvin worked for Bell Telephone for 28 years. In 1983, they returned to Fort Ransom and built a log house. Marvin was a member of the Fort Ransom VFW; served on the Fort Ransom City Council; Standing Rock Lutheran Church Council; and the Economic Development Board.
He is survived by his wife, Elsa Libak, Fort Ransom; four sons, Mark Libak, Kirkland, Wash., Scott Libak, Redmond, Wash., Monte Libak, Fargo, and Randy (Ardis) Libak, Snohomish, Wash.; two daughters, Colleen (Philip) Rufsvold, Fort Ransom, and Susan Libak, Kirkland, Wash.; four sisters, Jeanette Hendricks and Berniece Larson, Enderlin, Janice (Pat) Eng and Harriet Henrikson, Fargo; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Colleen Rufsvold, Susan Libak, Scott Libak, Mark Libak, Monte Libak and Randy Libak.
Music was provided by organist Betty Anderson and soloist Wayne Strander.
Interment at Standing Rock Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Ransom.

Alvin L. Dotzenrod
Funeral services for Alvin Dotzenrod, 84, Wyndmere, were held on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at the Wyndmere United Methodist Church. Reverend Jack Erickson officiated. Mr. Dotzenrod died Monday, June 3, 2002, at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton.
Alvin L. Dotzenrod, son of Rudolph and Ellen (Gustafson) Dotzenrod was born on June 10, 1917 in the Sheyenne River area of Richland County. He graduated from Wyndmere High School and received a basketball scholarship to Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn.
On December 7, 1940, he married Mary L. Griffin, in Wyndmere. She died of cancer in February 1974. Alvin later married Carol Anderson on November 29, 1974, and they resided in Wyndmere. He was in partnership with his father and brothers, Lloyd, Ralph, and Rudolph Jr., until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Wyndmere United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Carol Dotzenrod; son, Ronald Dotzenrod, Wyndmere; daughter, Nancy (Duane) Brosowske, Purcell, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Jerome) Poppen, Wyndmere, stepchildren, Darryl (Nita) Anderson, Philippines, Edward (Diane) Anderson, Wyndmere, Kathy (Ed) Walton, Englevale, Jerome (Marie) Anderson, New Auburn, Wis; five grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; one brother, Rudolph, Jr. (Janet) Dotzenrod, Wyndmere; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Dotzenrod, son, Ralph Dotzenrod, and three brothers, Lloyd Dotzenrod, Ralph Dotzenrod, and Edwin Dotzenrod.
Interment at Elk Creek Cemetery, rural Wyndmere.
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, was in charge of arrangements.

Frances Lindemann
A graveside service for Frances Lindemann, 94, Los Angeles (formerly Enderlin), will be held on Monday, June 17, 2002 at Enderlin Cemetery. Reverend Mike Toomey will officiate. Mrs. Lindemann died on Sunday, May 5, 2002 in Citrus Valley Hospital, Los Angeles.
Frances Fordahl, daughter of Gustaf and Mabel Fordahl, was born March 7, 1908 in Sisseton, S.D. She attended school in Sisseton.
On November 26, 1931, she married Rudy Lindemann in Sisseton. They lived in Enderlin for a few years and then lived in Minnesota for a few years. They moved to Oakland and Berkley, Calif., where they managed the Hillside Club for many years until retiring and moving to San Ramon.
She is survived by two sons, Rodney (LouAnn) Lindemann, Red Bluff, Calif. and Stephen (Leslie) Lindemann, San Dimas, Calif.; one daughter, Muriel Denise Lindemann, Red Bluff, Calif.; two brothers, David Fordahl, Castro Valley, Calif. and Leroy (Jeannie) Fordahl, Castro Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Muriel Miesner, Oakland, Calif. and Lorraine Damkier, Weed, Calif.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy Lindemann, who died on July 30, 1983; a son, James Alen, and a granddaughter, Cindy.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Esther Olson
Funeral services for Esther Olson, 84, Glendale, Ariz. (formerly Fargo and Lisbon), were held on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Mrs. Olson died on Friday, May 17, 2002 in Arizona.
Esther A. Olson, born on June 6, 1917 at Eagle Bend, Minn., formerly of Fargo and Lisbon, moved to Glendale, Ariz., in 1983 to live with her son, Rod and his family.
She is survived by one son, Rod Olson; one brother, Axel Anderson; one sister, Agnes Berczyk; one brother-in-law, Oliva (Savy) Sauvageau; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Maloy Norby
Funeral services for Maloy Norby, 80, Lidgerwood, were held on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Bergen Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood. Reverend Arthur L. Hoium officiated. Mr. Norby died on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton.
Alexander Maloy Norby, son of Alex and Selma (Moe) Norby, was born June 21, 1921 in Sargent County, rural Havana, N.D. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Tewauken Township in Sargent County. He farmed and continued to live on the farm.
On February 11, 1954, he married Mary Bozovsky and they farmed until 1972 when he retired and they moved into Lidgerwood. In April 1994, he suffered a stroke and entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton. He was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Norby, Wahpeton; one brother, Wenzel (Vera) Norby, Lidgerwood; and one sister, Gladys (Andrew) Christensen, Veblen, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Norman Norby; and four brothers, Kenneth, Lester, Robert and Lloyd Norby.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Neil Christensen, David Vig, Clarence Gettel, Harlon Arneson, Ross Vig and Robert Wisnewski.
Music was provided by organist Curt Brownlee and soloist Curt Brownlee.
Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Havana.

James E. Trenary
Funeral services for James Elwood Trenary, 60, Grand Rapids, N.D., were held on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. Reverend Gayler Korsmo officiated. Mr. Trenary died on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.
James Elwood Trenary, son of Richard and Rosella (Hansen) Trenary, was born on May 30, 1941 near Berlin, N.D., where he grew up and attended school. After his schooling, he entered the United States Navy and served his country for four years.
On February 7, 1976, he married Lotte Jendryehowski in Las Vegas. The couple owned and operated the Grand Rapids Bar in Grand Rapids, N.D., until 1984. They then traveled all over the U.S. while Jim worked for Coronado Construction Company, based out of Salina, Kan. Lotte died August 1998. Jim continued to live in Grand Rapids and had been working as a mechanic and welder for Carl Larson, Fullerton, N.D.
He is survived by two brothers, Charles (Darlene) Trenary, Castlewood, S.D., and Stanley Trenary, Fessenden; nine sisters, Leora (Ken) Anderson, Fort Ransom, Aris Miears, Bemidji, Minn., Lois Church, Nortonville, N.D., Audrey (Wayne) Mikkelsen, Langdon, Mary (Ken) Clark, Oklahoma City, Okla., Marty Black and Linda (Mel) Schuler, all of Bismarck, Rosalie (Don) Hankel, Brandon, S.D., and Kim (Mike) Raper, McAlester, Okla.; one aunt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lotte Trenary; one infant sister, Lilly Jane Trenary; and three nieces.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Chad Seefeldt, Scott Ellis, Greg Johnson, Bob Isakson, Eric Larson and Hank Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Osborn, Fred Osborn and Marv Anderson.
Music was provided by organist Rebecca Bockwoldt.
Bean-Goodwin Legion Post #36 presented military rites.
Interment at Grand Rapids Cemetery, Grand Rapids.

Donald E. Anderson
Memorial services for Donald E. Anderson, 68, Dakota, Minn., were held on Saturday, June 8, 2002 at United Methodist Church, Caledonia, Minn. Mr. Anderson died on Saturday, June 1, 2002.
Donald E. Anderson, son of Earle and Leona (Norling) Anderson, was born on June 1, 1934 in Fargo. He grew up in rural Lisbon. He later joined the Navy. After serving in the Navy, he attended and graduated from Moorhead State College.
On September 3, 1955, he married Gloria Moen. After working many diverse jobs, he created a family campground in Caledonia, Minn., called DunRomin’ Park.
After Gloria’s death, Don married Carole Coughlin on October 9, 1993. He was the owner of DunRomin’ Park for 26 years. He served on the board of the Minnesota Association of Campground Owners, Historic Bluff Country and was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church. After retiring in 1989, Don and Carol established Walnut Haven, a tree farm in Dakota, Minn. There he also restored Ferguson tractors. He was a member of the Ferguson Club of England and the newly formed Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Paul (Mary) Anderson, Minneapolis and Michael (Grace) Anderson, Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Julie Anderson, Sierra Madre, Calif.; two step-daughters, Erin and Laurie Coughlin; one step-son, Patrick Coughlin; two brothers, Tom Anderson, Viera, Fla. and Gary Anderson, Rochester, Minn.; and a sister, Mary (Paul) Friedman, Clinton, Conn.
Dickinson Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, LaCrosse, Wis., was in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Loy Saathoff
Virginia Loy (Olson) Saathoff, 59, Minot, formerly of Lisbon, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at her home, following a long battle against cancer. The funeral was held Friday, July 19, 2002 at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot and she was buried on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Preston Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Ransom. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, was in charge of arrangements.
