Barbara Anderson
Funeral services for Barbara Anderson, 62, Valley City, were held on Friday, October 18, 2003 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fingal. Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 in her home.
Barbara Kunze was born August 30, 1941, in Valley City, where she grew up and attended school.
On August 30, 1969, she married Allen Anderson in Valley City. She worked as a nurse’s assistant in Mercy Hospital, Valley City for ten years and at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley for twelve years. He died in July.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Anderson, Fingal, and Allen Anderson, Fingal; two daughters, Ellen Anderson, Fingal, and Carol Anderson, Valley City; two grandchildren; her mother, Anna Kunze, Valley City; three brothers, Frank (Louise) Anderson, Lisbon, David Anderson, Bismarck, Robert (Hope) Anderson, Oriska; two sisters, Ann (Richard) Hejtmanek, Valley City, and Frances Hawes, Valley City.
Interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City.
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

James Latraille
Funeral services for James Latraille, 75, Grafton, N.D., were held on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton. Mr. Latraille died Friday, October 17, 2003 at his home.
James Latraille, son of Patrick and Emily (Bruce) Latraille was born on July 25, 1928 in Leroy, N.D. He attended school in Leroy.
On January 21, 1950, he married Ramona Letexier in Leroy. The couple lived in Leroy until 1966 when they moved to Grafton. In 1968 the family moved to Seattle, Wash., and returned in 1969. James worked for area farmers and area funeral homes. He was also employed by the city of Grafton. He retired in 1997 due to health reasons. He remained in Grafton until the time of his death. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Grafton VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Latraille, Grafton, five sons, Dennis (Pamela) Latraille, Wapaca, Wis., Dale (Joy) Latraille, Grafton, Robert (Tina) Latraille, Grafton, Rodney (Sherry) Latraille, Gwinner, and Todd Latraille, Grafton; three daughters, Anna (Ernest) Montoya, Grafton, Sharon (Tom) Matcha, Grafton, and Gail Moen, Grafton; 35 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gordon Latraille, infant son, Joseph Latraille, grandchildren, Adam and Jennifer Latraille; three brothers, four sisters, daughter-in-law, Wanda Latraille and son-in-law, David Moen.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Joseph Latraille, David Matcha, Jamie Latraille, Jacob Nord, Tommy Matcha and Jason Latraille.
Military Rites provided by the Grafton VFW Post #9367, Grafton.
Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leroy, N.D.
Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, was in charge of arrangements.

Steven Max
Funeral services for Steven Max, 42, Hillsboro, N.D., were held on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. Mr. Max died Sunday, October 19, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Grandin, N.D.
Steven Max, son of Kermit and Rosemary (Baltus) Max was born on December 20, 1960 in Fergus Falls, Minn. He attended country school in Fergus Falls, prior to attending Fargo South High in Fargo. After his education, Steve lived in Owatonna, Minn., and in Lisbon prior to moving to Bottineau, N.D. In Bottineau, he attended North Dakota State University, graduating with honors in 1994, with a degree in Wildlife Management. Steve lived in Fargo prior to moving to Hillsboro where he most recently worked for Cenex Harvest States in Grandin. Steve served in the U.S. National Guard for 14 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Max, 13, Stanley, N.D.; mother, Rosemary (Percy Boesen) Baker, Rothsay, Minn.; fiance, Barb Riemer, Hillsboro; grandmother, Rose Baltus, Grand Rapids, Minn.; one brother, John Max, Fergus Falls; five sisters, Debra (Richard) Johnson, Hillsboro, Vicki (Darryl) Platt, Wahpeton, Julie (Mike Weninger) Max, Fargo, Kristi Max, Wahpeton, and Sherry (Jason) Wika, Grandin. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit E. Max, two infant brothers, and an infant sister.
Interment at Bureau Cemetery, near Foxhome, Minn.
Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Dahl
Funeral services for Elizabeth Dahl, 86, Lisbon, were held on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Forman, N.D. Mrs. Dahl died Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Lisbon Area Health Services, Lisbon.
Elizabeth Dahl, daughter of Warren and Alma (Salsbery) Oliphant was born on November 10, 1916 near Staples, Minn. After completing her teacher’s training in Staples, she taught at a rural school for one year.
On June 10, 1936, she married Alfred Dahl. They farmed together in Minnesota for a number of years before moving to Forman in 1947. There Al owned Dahl Chevrolet and Implement and later began Dahl Air Spray, Inc. In 1960 Betty and Al moved to the country, where they continued to farm, aerial spray, and raise a family. They were active members of both the National Agricultural Aviation Association and the International Flying Farmers. In 1973 Betty represented the North Dakota Flying Farmers as their Chapter Queen. In their retirement years, she and Al spent their winters in Del Rio. She served as church pianist for the Congregational Church in Forman for many years. During the last months of her life, her playing provided enjoyment for fellow residents at the Beverly Anne Assisted Living Center in Lisbon.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Diane) Dahl, Cogswell; one daughter Linda (Bill Dixon) Molm, Tucson, Ariz; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Jane Bergmann, Bloomington, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Dahl, an infant son; two sisters, Gracie Timons and Carmie Stolp; and two brothers, Claire Oliphant and Robert Oliphant.
Interment at Forman Cemetery, Forman.
Price Funeral Chapel, Inc., Britton, S.D., was in charge of arrangements.

Alma Gallagher
Funeral services for Alma Gallagher, 83, Carrington, formerly Pingree, were held on Friday, November 14, 2003 at Church of the Nazarene, Carrington. Reverend Mike Kraemer officiated. Mrs. Gallagher died Monday, November 10, 2003 at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Alma Junevie Bjornhei, daughter of John and Louise (Jacobson) Bjornhei was born on June 6, 1920 at Fort Ransom. She attended VCSU at Valley City and then taught at the Round Top Township school in Stutsman County of North Dakota from 1941-1943.
On June 27, 1943, she married Nyle Gallagher, in Jamestown. They farmed at Vashti, N.D. until retiring in 1983. They moved to Jamestown, where they managed apartments. In 2001, they moved to Carrington. Alma was a member of Pingree Lutheran Church and the Gideons Auxiliary, Jamestown Camp.
She is survived by her husband, Nyle, Carrington; two sons, Dale (Debbie Gallagher, Carrington and John (Lorelei) Gallagher, Carrington; three daughters, Shirley (Donald) Schroeder, Harwood, Patricia (Dennis) Groven, Hankinson, Gail (David) Williams, Crane, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Gallagher, Carrington; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Melba Guttormson, Lisbon. She was preceded in death by three sons, Neal, Jack and infant Ralph; her parents, two brothers, Stanley and Ralph; and one infant sister, Solveig.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Steve Grove, David Schroeder, Michael Groven, Reynaldo Rodriquez, Delmar Gallagher, Jr., David Guttormson, and Dennis Guttormson.
Music was provided by organist Carol Collins and special music by the Gallagher family.
Interment at Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, N.D.

Robert Koppinger
Funeral services for Robert Koppinger, 83, New England, N.D., were held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England. Father Basil Atwell officiated. Mr. Koppinger died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at his home in New England after a 21-year battle with cancer.
Robert Koppinger, son of Nick and Susanna (Martin) Koppinger was born on June 14, 1920 in New England. He grew up and attended school in New England, graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1937. At a very young age, he began working with his father at a local garage. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 24, 1942. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged on December 21, 1945. Robert returned to New England where he started working for a car dealer and later the John Deere Implement Dealer.
On February 14, 1949, he married Sylvia Holzemer at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Amidon, N.D. Robert worked for over 40 years as a mechanic, retiring in 1989. They continued to make New England their home.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Koppinger, New England; five sons, Jerald (LaVerne) Koppinger, Dickinson, Daniel Koppinger, San Diego, Calif., Allen (Cindy) Koppinger, Dickinson, Howard Koppinger, Sidney, Mont., Timothy (Janet) Koppinger, Fargo; four daughters, Carole (Marty) Bjugstad, Sheldon, Kathleen Koppinger, Ann Arbor, Mich., Barbara (AJ) Olson, Sidney, Mont., and Laura Koppinger, Gilbert, Ariz., ; four brothers, Carl (Mina) Koppinger, New England, Edward (Fern) Koppinger, New England, and James (Helen) Koppinger, New England, Harold (Carol) Koppinger, Mandan; two sisters, Anna Marie (Don) Wallner, Richardton, N.D. and Vivian (Arnold) Rotering, New England; sister-in-law, Della Mae Koppinger, Akron, Colo., and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Rose, and brother William.
Interment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, New England, was in charge of arrangements.

Warren G. Tesmer
Funeral services for Warren G. Tesmer, 82, N.D. Veterans Home, Lisbon, were held on Friday, November 21, 2003 at the Veterans Home. Mr. Tesmer died Sunday, November 12, 2003 at the Lisbon Hospital.
Warren G. Tesmer, son of Herman and Pearl (Haire) Tesmer was born on October 3, 1921 in Walhalla, N.D. He attended a rural elementary school near Walhalla and high school at WCAS in Park River, N.D. Following the outbreak of WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Marie Corps and participated in several of the Pacific Campaigns.
On December 23, 1945, he married Sophie Kilmonski at Park River. They moved to Chicago in 1958. Warren pursued his career as a professional driving instructor in Chicago for many years. He became a resident of the N.D. Veterans Home in December 1996.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Gene) Smith, Chicago; his son, Curt Tesmer, Bozeman, Mont.; brother, Wayne (Marian) Tesmer, Fargo; sister, Linda (Patrick) Gillian, Sacramento, Calif., three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dolores, and brother, Claude.

Vernon G. Erickson
Funeral services for Vernon G. Erickson, 63, Milnor, were held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near DeLamere, N.D. Reverend Elwood Skarpness officiated. Mr. Erickson died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Innovis Health, Fargo.
Vernon G. Erickson, son of Alvin and Jennie (Lerback) Erickson was born on February 22, 1940 in Britton, S.D. He grew up on the family farm in Dunbar Township, near Milton and attended school at Dunbar #2. After his schooling, he worked at the Milnor Creamery.
On October 16, 1960, he married Noreen Schutt. Vernon began farming in the DeLamere area in the early 1960s. He married Constance Vaplon on December 22, 1970. Vernon continued to farm in the DeLamere area until the time of his death. Over the years Vernon also designed the “Boss Auger” which he manufactured on his own. In the early 1980s he and his brother designed the Lee-Way header for combines. They manufactured this product for a short time in Forman.
He is survived by three sons, Ellick Erickson, Milnor, Emeric Erickson, Milnor, and Calvin Erickson, Milnor; three daughters, Lori Hoffmann, Cogswell, Tonya Orr, Birmingham, Ala. and Idette Erickson, Milnor; two grandchildren; four brothers, Edwin (Marlys) Erickson, Milnor, Leland Erickson, Forman and Orville (Dorthea) Erickson, Forman, Clayton (Faye) Erickson, Egan, Minn.; one sister, Sylvia (Mike) Myers, Colfax. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Claire Seefeldt, Loren Ellefson, Jerome Poppen, Joel Halvorson, Jim Toyne and Richard Peterson.
Music was provided by organist Arlene Lillestol and soloist Patty Ellefson.
Interment at Dunbar Cemetery, near Milnor.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor, was in charge of arrangements.
