Luella Lindvold
Funeral services for Luella Lindvold, 84, Valley City, formerly Nome, N.D., were held on Monday, February 2, 2004 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn, N.D. Reverend Bradley Edin officiated. Mrs. Lindvold died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.
Gertrude Luella Larson, daughter of Martin and Amy (Overn) Larson was born on October 27, 1919 in Kathryn. She attended Sand Prairie School near Kathryn. After her schooling she helped on many area farms.
On November 28, 1941, she married Ernest Lindvold in Fargo. They made their home and farmed near Nome. He died August 5, 1993. Luella entered the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on July 11, 2003. She was a member of Waldheim Lutheran Church, rural Kathryn where she was active in Ladies Aid and had been a Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by one son, Warren Lindvold, Nome; one daughter, LuAnn (Donavon) Janssen, Boulder, Colo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Interment at Waldheim Cemetery, rural Kathryn.
Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Marie Ahlgren
Funeral services for Marie Ahlgren, 101, Lisbon, formerly Parshall, N.D. were held Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon, with Father Dudzinski officiating. Mrs. Ahlgren died Sunday, Feb 8, 2004 at Parkside Nursing Home, Lisbon.
Marie Catherine Maloney was born December 10, 1902 to Margaret (Egan) and Daniel Maloney near Baker, N.D. She graduated from Baker High School, then attended Valley City State College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in many rural settings throughout her teaching career.
On November 25, 1946, Marie married Arthur Ahlgren. She taught in Parshall until her daughter Carol Ann was born. In 1954, the family moved to Stanley, N.D. where she taught in the elementary school. Mr. Ahlgren died in 1959. Marie retired from teaching in 1973. She entered the Rockview Nursing Home in Parshall in 1977, and in 1997 she became a resident of the Parkside Nursing Home in Lisbon.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol (Ron) Braaten, Lisbon; three grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Debertin, Parshall, N.D., and Vivian Schneider, Longview, WA; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and three brothers.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Nick Braaten, Dan Braaten, Cathy Braaten, Gary Braaten, Daryl Braaten, and Ron Braaten.
Music was provided by organist Carol McCann and soloist Sylvia Holmstrom.
Interment at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery, Parshall, N.D.

Nellie J. Stock
Funeral services for Nellie J. Stock, 102, Moorhead Health Care Center, were held Friday, February 13, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead. Mrs. Stock died Monday, February 9, 2004 at the care center.
Nellie J. Wolters was born December 26, 1901 on a farm in Ranson County near Lisbon, to Jacob and Mary Wolters. She grew up on the Wolters homestead near Buttzville. She attended St. Aloysius School in Lisbon and Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo. She worked at the bank in Buttzville.
On November 10, 1920, Nellie married Vern H. Stock at St. Mary’s Church in Sheldon. The couple farmed near Buttzville for five years. They purchased a hardware store in Sheldon, which they owned and operated from 1926-1931. They moved to Lisbon in 1931 and lived there until 1944 when they moved to Lakota. In 1950, they moved to Fargo, where they have since lived. Nell worked at Mandel Furs for seven years. She worked as a volunteer at St. Vincent dePaul’s Society for 25 years.
She is survived by three sons, Dr. Donald (Dorothy) Stock, Fargo, E.J. (Eugene) Stock, Las Cruces, N.M., and Roger Stock, Bismarck; one daughter-in-law, Fern Stock, Fargo; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ida Wolters, Margaret Beaucage, and Lois Cruden, all of Lisbon; and two brothers, John (Myrtle) Wolters and Edward (Doris) Wolters, both of Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, one daughter, Beverly Ray; one son, Kenneth; her parents; four brothers; and four sisters.
Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Moorhead.

Eva Evanson
Funeral services for Eva Evanson, 97, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, February 11, 2004 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon. Speakers were Gilbert Richter and Phyllis Williams. Mrs. Evanson died Sunday, February 9, 2004 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Eva Evanson, daughter of Evan and Gertie (Bjugstad) Evanson was born on October 2, 1906 in Sheldon. She attended rural Sheldon School. Eva lived near Sheldon until moving to Lisbon in 1966. She worked at the N.D. Veteran’s Home, Vogue Cleaners and Lisbon Area Health Services.
She is survived by one brother, Alvin (Catherine) Evanson, Sheldon; one sister, Gena Rutherford, Grafton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Clarence, Augusta, Inga, Gudrid, Hjalmer and Emil.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kenneth Bartron, Dean Bergh, Jim Gauderman, Roger Evanson, Darryl Justesen and Orville Suhumskie.
Music was provided by organist Charlene Myers and vocolists Darell and Dianne Evanson.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon

Inga M. Johnson
Funeral services for Inga “Marcy” Johnson, 78, Valley City formerly Nome, were held on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Nome. Reverend Brad Edin officiated. Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Inga Marcella “Marcy” Bjerke, daughter of Christian and Mina S. (Maasjo) Bjerke was born on July 15, 1925 in Norma Township, west of the Fingal area. She grew up and attended school at Norma #1 School in the Fingal area. Marcy was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Fingal.
On December 15, 1944, she married Marvin Johnson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City. The couple lived and farmed near Nome for 19 years. The couple then moved off the farm to a farmstead near Nome in 1963, to Fingal in 1974 and to Valley in 2000. Marcie was very active at St. Petri Lutheran Church with Sunday School, WELCA and Bible Studies. Marcy was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #187.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Johnson, Valley City; four sons, David (Kathy) Johnson, Atwater, Minn., Gary (Michele) Johnson, Kathryn, Monte (Pat) Johnson, Valley City, and Mark (Melissa) Johnson, Stickney, S.D.; one daughter, Barb Johnson, Spicer, Minn.; three brothers, Simon (Vivian) Bjerke, Enderlin, Edwin (Darlene) Bjerke, Valley City and Melvin (Shirley) Bjerke, Kathryn; two sisters, Corrine Larson, Valley City, and Loraine Moen, Enderlin; one son-in-law, Marlyn Maasjo, Fingal; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Gail Maasjo, two infant daughters and three sisters.
Interment at St. Petri Cemetery near Nome.

Ronald L. Gwennap
Funeral services for Ronald L. Gwennap, 59, Kathryn, were held on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn, N.D. Reverend Bradley Edin officiated. Mr. Gwennap died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo.
Ronald Leroy Gwennap, son of John and Darlene Rose (Hansen) Gwennap was born on June 19, 1944 in Omaha, Neb. He was raised and educated in Omaha. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from June 1961 to June 1965. He was stationed in California after returning to the United States.
On December 19, 1964, he married Gloria Schultz. After his discharge they made their home in California where he worked in an oil refinery. He moved to Elkhorn, Neb. where he worked in city maintenance and then to Aurora, Colo. where he was a cook at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Denver. On May 10, 2000 he married Helen Lehfeldt Ketchem in Aurora, Colo. They moved to Kathryn in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Gwennap, Kathryn; two sons, David (Yvette) Gwennap, Burbank, Calif., James (Erin) Gwennap, Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Denise Gwennap, Long Beach, Calif.; a step-son, Chris Nelson, Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren; two brothers, Mark Morgan, Omaha, Neb. and Steve (Lana) Morgan, Waterford, Wis.; two sisters, Sharon Morgan, Montette, Mo., and Linda Morgan, Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Darlene and Leroy Morgan.
Interment at Sheyenne Valley Cemetery in the spring.

Rex Oster
Funeral services for Rex Oster, 74, Fargo, were held on Monday, February 9, 2004 at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Oster died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital South University, Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Rex Oster, son of Frank and Alice (Childs) Oster was born on April 7, 1929 in Minot. He grew up on the family farm in Saline Township, near Granville, N.D. where he attended school. After his schooling Rex worked for area farmers prior to serving his country in the U.S. Army.
On January 27, 1951, he married Marjorie Erickson. They made their home in Minot. Rex worked for White’s Creamery, Montana Dakota Utilities, and the YMCA, all in Minot, prior to moving to the Veteran’s Home in Lisbon. Rex was united in marriage to Faye Buchholz on June 8, 1969. They made their home in Fargo. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked for Crescent Jewelers, and Carousal Jewelers. Rex was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo, prior to joining Olivet Lutheran Church. He was active in the Senior Citizen’s Group at the Depot where he enjoyed playing pool, cards, and cribbage. He also spent many hours volunteering at the Veteran’s Hospital in Fargo, was a member of the 55 Singles Club, and the Epilepsy Foundation.
He is survived by two daughters, Dianne Kluck, Blaine, Minn. and Barb Fallen, Bismarck; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Joyce)Oster, Mesa, Ariz. and Tommy (Marlene) Oster, Bottineau; one sister, Betty (Joe) Lundberg, Gold Canyon, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Erma McFarlane and Mildred Haugrose; and three brothers, Melvin, Dave and Henry Oster.
Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, Minot in the spring.

Darrell D. Wolters
Private family services for Darrell D. Wolters, 60, Moorhead were held. Mr. Wolters died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in his home.
Darrell Dennis Wolters was born on May 15, 1943 in Enderlin. He graduated from Enderlin High School in 1961. He worked for Alloway for 20 years as a welder. He was currently employed by Buhler Manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children; Bryan (Rose) Wolters, Grand Forks, Darrin (Beth) Wolters, Wyndmere, Kimberly Wolters, Minneapolis, Chris Wolters, Suffern, N.Y., Wendy (Bob Erickson, Suffern, N.Y., Raymond (Golden) Sipe; nine grandchildren his father, John; and four brothers.
Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, was in charge of arrangements.

Clair H. Carlblom
Funeral services for Clair H. Carlblom, 77, Valley City, formerly Fort Ransom, were held on Monday, February 9, 2004 at Standing Rock Lutheran Church, Fort Ransom. Reverend David Carlson officiated. Mr. Carlblom died Friday, February 6, 2004.
Clair H. Carlblom was born on April 21, 1926 in rural Fort Ransom. He attended rural Fort Ransom and Fort Ransom Schools, graduating from Fort Ransom High School in 1944.
On September 2, 1952, he married Joan Murray, in Hallock, Minn. They lived on a farm one mile north of Fort Ransom. Clair farmed and own his own gravel truck. He hauled gravel for several years. In 2000 they moved to Valley City. Clair had been a member of the Lisbon Eagles and Valley City Eagles. He was a member of the Enderlin Golf Club. He had served on the Standing Rock Lutheran Church council in various positions and also at Stiklestad Lutheran church. He was president of Stiklestad Cemetery Association for many years. He had served on the Fort Ransom School Board.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, Valley City; four daughters, Sherry (Jerry) Johnson, Fort Ransom, Debbie (Charles) Thoreson, Fort Ransom, Patty (Scott) Miller, Enderlin, Janice (Kevin) Bishop, Kathryn; one son, Bill (Michelle) Carlblom, Valley City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert and brother, Donald.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Michael Johnson, Jeremiah Miller, Nick Thoreson, Dustin Bishop, Dillon Bishop, and Cody Carlblom.
Music was provided by organist Mary Johnson and soloist Mike Bishop.
Interment at Stiklestad Cemetery, rural Fort Ransom
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
