U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Arthur Mohr

BURWELL -- Arthur A. Mohr, 93, of Burwell died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Berean Fundamental Church in Burwell. The Rev. Murray Peer will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mr. Mohr was born on March 26, 1905, in Garfield County to Peter and Anna (Mack) Mohr. He farmed and ranched with his father.

He married Ruby Hall on May 29, 1941, in Ainsworth. They continued living on the family farm while Mrs. Mohr taught school. She died on May 20, 1963.

Mr. Mohr lived at home until 1992, when he moved to town and stayed with his sister-in-law, Grace. He moved to the Community Memorial Health Center in August 1997.

Mr. Mohr was on the board of directors of the Burwell Butter Factory for 47 years. He was on the Rose Hill school board and the election board. He was also a taxidermist and had a museum in his home, where he gave tours. He kept a daily diary, including an account of the weather.

He enjoyed farming and raising Hereford cattle.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Grace Mead of Burwell.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Otto Mohr; and four sisters, Helen Conner, Emma Davis, Rosa Meyer and Anna Rowse.

'Bill' Sorensen

BOELUS -- Willie "Bill" Sorensen, 89, of Boelus died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Methodist Church in Boelus. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery near Boelus.

There will be no visitation. Jacobsen Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; one daughter, Jeannae Eriksen of St. Paul; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Jakob of Rockville and Nora (Mrs. Ray) Hansen of Grand Island.

Guy Crouch

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. -- Guy W. Crouch, 79, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Ansley, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at his home.

Among survivors are his wife, Louise; two sons, Kenny and Jerry; and one brother, Merle Crouch of Grand Island.

'Butch' Drugsvold

FREMONT, Calif. -- Elmer "Butch" Drugsvold, 52, of Fremont, Calif., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, in Fremont.

Burial will be in the Elk Point cemetery in Elk Point, S.D.

Mr. Drugsvold was born on April 14, 1946, at Butte, Mont. He lived in Montana and Sioux City, Iowa, before entering the Army. He served in the Vietnam War.

He worked as a sh' repairman and tae kwon do instructor while living in Nebraska. He received an honorary admiralship in the Nebraska Navy for his work with youth. He owned and operated TREES in Fremont, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two sons, Elmer and Mike, both of Grand Island; two daughters, Teri of Grand Island and Denise of Fremont, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Christina and Michelle of Fremont, Calif.; eight grandchildren; his parents, John and Irene Livingston of Ansley; two sisters, Janet Patterson of C'ur d'Alene, Idaho, and Rose Marie Stinson of Kansas; and one brother, Jack Prandy of Denver.

George Radenbaugh

MESA, Ariz. -- George Radenbaugh, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Esther Stelk

Esther L. Stelk, 98, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m., Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mrs. Stelk was born on July 9, 1900, at Grand Island to Henry and Charlotte (Hein) Schoneberg. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island. She attended Fort Wayne, Ind., College of Nursing.

She married Dr. Willis D. Gilmore in 1934. Dr. Gilmore died in 1939.

She married Albert Stelk on Aug. 20, 1956, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island, where she worked as a registered nurse for Lutheran Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. Mr. Stelk died in 1978.

Mrs. Stelk was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ruth Society, the Evening Guild and the Golden Years.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Carlson of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Walter, Fred and Rudolph Schoneberg; and two sisters, Frieda Curtin and Ella Scheffel.

Faye Fowler

BROKEN BOW -- Faye E. Fowler, 94, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Memorials are suggested to the church building fund and the Gathering Place in Arcadia.

Mrs. Fowler was born on Oct. 29, 1904, at Elba to Cline and Andrea Jensen. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1922 and attended business college in St. Paul.

She married Leonard Fowler on June 28, 1925. They lived on her husband's parents' farm, where they raised registered Poland China hogs. They moved to a ranch in Loup County in 1946 and moved into Taylor in 1958. They retired and moved to Arcadia in 1978. Mr. Fowler died in February 1983. Mrs. Fowler continued to live in Arcadia until entering Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow in 1995.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Taylor and later was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and had worked as the librarian in Taylor for many years.

Survivors include one son, Gilbert of Arcadia; nine grandsons; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin Jensen of Conoga Park, Calif.; one sister, Florence Lamphear of Arcadia; and one half sister, Barbara Carlson of Mission, Texas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene; one infant son, William; two brothers, Harding and Harry; two sisters, Evelyn White and Hazel Reiman; three half brothers, Melvin, Carl and Robert Richardson; one stepsister, Lela Kenfield; and four stepbrothers, Ora, Rex, Raymond and Lyle Richardson.

Rose Lonowski

LOUP CITY -- Rose M. Lonowski, 97, of Loup City died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., with a 4 p.m. sodality rosary, Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City. Visitation will continue from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service, Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Rose Lane Home or the church.
