Milford Halouska

ARNOLD -- Milford Rex Halouska, 66, of Arnold died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Dallas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Doug Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Cliff cemetery west of Merna.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Halouska was born on July 8, 1932, at Arnold to Frank and Rosa (Beckler) Halouska. He attended Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Arnold High School in 1949.

Mr. Halouska enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He received his basic training at Parks Air Force Base in California and technical training at Sheppard Air Force Strategic Air Command. His duty assignments as crew chief included B-29s and the first new wings of the B-47 medium bombers delivered to the Strategic Air Command. After being discharged in 1957, he worked for American Airlines in Dallas for a number of years.

He later returned to Arnold, where he farmed until his retirement. In recent years, he spent winters in Dallas.

Mr. Halouska was associated with the Methodist Church.

Survivors include four brothers, Joe of Cozad, Ralph of Arnold, Glenn of Sargent and Albert of Canton, N.Y.; and two sisters, Ethel Smith of Junction City, Kan., and Veva Halouska of Arnold.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Miller and Nellie Halouska; and one brother, Clarence.

Frank Huffaker

BROKEN BOW -- Frank Dean Huffaker, 75, of Broken Bow died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Broken Bow Cemetery. The Rev. Fred Roedger will officiate.

Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Huffaker was born to Conrad Roy and Martha Amy (Nelson) Huffaker and grew up on a farm 15 miles south of Broken Bow. He attended school through the 11th grade at Round Hill District School.

He was inducted into the Army National Guard in January 1943 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash.

He married Glea Huss in 1944 at Broken Bow. They lived in the Graham, Wash., area until his retirement after 27 years in the service.

He entered the Valley Terrace Nursing Home at Puyallup, Wash., in August 1996. Mrs. Huffaker died in September 1997. Mr. Huffaker moved back to Broken Bow in June 1998 and lived at Sandhills Manor.

Survivors include four sisters, Jean (Mrs. George) Eacker of Broken Bow, Maurene (Mrs. Clifford) Biggerstaff of Lincoln, Willa Wagner of Ericson and Martha (Mrs. Bobby) Sutton of Sargent; and one brother, Marvin of Hastings.

Lucille Jensen

ST. EDWARD -- Lucille G. Jensen, 71, of St. Edward died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.

Services are pending with Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.

Eveline Recknor

POLK -- Eveline D. Recknor, 79, of rural Polk died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, in York.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Polk with the Rev. Roger Burke officiating. Burial will be in the Arborville cemetery near Polk.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.

Metz Mortuary in York is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Recknor was born on Jan. 5, 1919, in Cedar County to Wilhelm and Alvena (Millenbruch) Hildebrandt. She graduated from Marysville, Kan., High School.

She married Edward Recknor on Nov. 19, 1945, in Kansas City. Mr. Recknor died in August 1991.

Mrs. Recknor was a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. George Liggett in York for more than 25 years. She was then a personal caregiver for Marie Kennedy in York for more than 10 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polk.

Survivors include three sons, John of Bennett, Norman of Polk and Lanson of Central City; a daughter, Lorraine (Mrs. Dick) Bauer of Stromsburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Boren of Raytown, Mo.; and a brother, Melvin Hildebrandt of Wymore.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters.

Ethel Rose

ST. PAUL -- Ethel Mae Rose, 104, of Heritage Living Center in St. Paul died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the living center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Libory's Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. David L. Rykwalder will officiate. Burial will be in St. Libory's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a parish rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the church. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested as Masses for the church.

Floyd Turek Sr.

GIBBON -- Floyd F. Turek Sr., 84, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at his home northwest of Gibbon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with the Rev. Ray Kosmicki officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a wake service at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday at the church. Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Almerna Harsh

PURDUM -- Almerna Harsh, 79, of Purdum died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the United Church of Christ in Purdum. The Revs. David Hansen and Linda Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Purdum Cemetery.

Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and to the St. Francis oncology department.

Mrs. Harsh was born on Oct. 26, 1919, at Halsey to David Alton and Etta Alva (Gray) Rodocker. She graduated from Halsey High School in 1937 and attended Grand Island Business School for two years.

She married Dana Harsh on June 22, 1941, at Halsey. They lived in Columbus and then moved to Dunning and operated an IGA grocery store. They moved to Purdum on Aug. 1, 1945, and operated Harsh Mercantile.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Purdum for 50 years, the Purdum Women's Fellowship, the Halsey/Dunning school board and the American Legion Auxiliary at Brewster.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sherry (Mrs. Bob) Mulligan and Jean Harsh, both of Halsey; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Cleo Rodocker of Grand Junction, Colo.; and two sisters, Marie Wirz of Broken Bow and Violette Nagy of Halsey.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Sue; five brothers, Gerald, Pete, Wilbert, Roy and Teddy; and one sister, Helen Houghtaling.

Mildred Foote

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Mildred L. Foote, 93, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of St. Edward, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Manor Care Nursing Center in Palm Desert.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. The Rev. Ken McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Foote was born on Feb. 8, 1905, in St. Edward to William and Annetta (Phillips) Lawrence. She grew up and was educated in St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School.

Following her education, she taught at a country school in the St. Edward area for several years and in the St. Edward public schools for a brief time.

She moved to Omaha for a brief time before moving to California in the early 1940s.

She married Burtes "Burt" Foote on Nov. 3, 1945. They lived in the California communities of Glendale and Sun Valley.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Emma Lawrence of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, George, Clyde and Earl; and one sister, Evelyn Collins.
