U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Julia Cyza

COLUMBUS -- Julia V. Cyza, 87, of Columbus died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at David Place Nursing Home in David City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola. The Rev. Thomas McGuire will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery at Pilsno, near Osceola.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home and after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7:30 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Cyza was born on Dec. 15, 1911, at Genoa to Jacob and Mary (Dzurawiec) Czarnick. She grew up and attended school at Krakow.

She married Lonny Cyza at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Krakow. They lived and farmed in the Columbus area. She entered Country View Care Village in Genoa in 1992 and moved to David Place Nursing Home in David City in October 1996.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church at Pilsno and the Altar Society, which she served as past president.

Survivors include three daughters, Maxine (Mrs. Al) Becker and Marcy (Mrs. Bill) Konz, both of Columbus, and Evelyn (Mrs. John) Prososki of Clarks; three sons, Jerome, Ronald and Vergel, all of Columbus; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Anna Urkoski and Frances Urkoski, both of Columbus, and Berniece Urkoski of St. Edward.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant granddaughters; one sister, Mary Kush; and three brothers, Louis, John and Frank.

Allen Hemmingsen

CHADRON -- Allen R. Hemmingsen, 63, of Chadron died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Chadron.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron. Fred Merritt will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Fort McPherson National cemetery in Maxwell.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Northwest Nebraska Search and Rescue. Donations may be sent to the First National Bank in Chadron.

Mr. Hemmingsen was born on April 27, 1935, at Kronborg to Magnus and Emma (Fogt) Hemmingsen.

He was a former Gosper County sheriff, charter member of Johnson Lake First Responders, a member of the Nebraska Emergency Management Association, Pine Ridge Mutual Aid, Firefighters Association and past president of the Emergency Management Association. He was a member of Chadron Elks Lodge 1399, American Legion, Nebraska Panhandle Emergency Managers Association and the Northwest Nebraska Search and Rescue Team.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Milt of Virginia Beach, Va., Royce of Kearney and Tim. A. of Elm Creek; a stepson, Tim R. Swett of Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters, Tove Reiman of Smithfield, Nancy Bullis of Elwood and Wanda McGraw of Kearney; 18 grandchildren; and three sisters, Lillian Kisler of Marquette, Eline Lundy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Elva McKinny of Eulis, Texas.

Orville Hulme

Orville George Hulme, 89, of 3008 N. 190th Road died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cairo United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery at Cairo. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. John D. Russell will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Fire Department, the Cairo United Methodist Church or St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

Mr. Hulme was born Jan. 22, 1910, at Cairo to George P. and Barbara (Prochaska) Hulme. He attended Bluff Center County School and graduated from Cairo High School in 1927.

He married Erna Kruse on Jan. 3, 1932, in Grand Island. They lived on the Hulme Homestead all of their married lives.

He was active in farming and livestock. He was very interested in conserving the soil and developing land for irrigation. He drilled the first deep irrigation well on table land southeast of Cairo.

He enjoyed baseball. He played on several Bluff Center teams and was often remembered for his "left-hand curve ball''.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and president of the Hall County Fair Board for many years. He was interested in promoting youth 4-H activities. He was selected as "Fair Man of the Year" at Nebraska Fair Managers Association in 1988 and received the Nebraska Family Community Award in 1989. He was president of the Cairo Rural Fire Board and was very proud of the volunteer efforts in building the new fire hall in Cairo. He served as Grand Marshall for the Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island in 1992.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Doyle of Grand Island; one daughter, Lois Hughes of Mankato, Minn.; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beulah McCulla of Grand Island; and a brother, Everett Hulme of Bellevue.

George Senkbeil

George Senkbeil, 92, of Grand Island, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Douglas Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mr. Senkbeil was born Dec. 25, 1906, in rural Hall County to Ernest and Antoinette (Sass) Senkbeil. He grew up on the family farm and attended District 17 school in Merrick County. Following his education he worked on the family farm.

He married Linda Wiese on March 10, 1934, in Grand Island. The couple farmed and ran a dairy operation in western Merrick County. They worked on the family farm. They moved into Grand Island in 1987.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and a former member of the District 17 school board and the Milk Association.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening and collecting horse paraphernalia.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Mrs. Donald) Daberkow and Sharon Melsen, both of Grand Island; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Art Senkbeil of Aurora; one sister, Hilda Hubbard of Grand Island; and one nephew he raised, Richard "Dick" Senkbeil of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda in July 1989.

Tony Bouatick

AURORA -- Tony Bouatick, 43, of Aurora, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church. The Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Higby Mortuary in Aurora. There will be a 9 a.m. Prayer Service Wednesday at the mortuary.

Mr. Bouatick was born at Abis, Laos, on March 1, 1955, to Phimpha and Tang (Tisombatt) Bouatick. He grew up in Laos and came to Aurora with his father and family on Oct. 8, 1980.

On March 10, 1975, he married Kim Sun Dala. They lived in Thailand, Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, Omaha, Grand Island and Aurora. He was employed at the Monfort Plant in Grand Island.

He was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Le Bondasak and Loli Bouatick; three brothers, Seuk Bouatick, Dahlong Bouatick and Bouatom, Bouatick; six sisters, Sompong Srivisay, Boualine Vu, Bouathong Swecheon, Bouakham Kemphomma, Noukit Thimmahien and Pick Louangsaphakdy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marie Hansen

BROKEN BOW -- Marie Hansen, 85, of Broken Bow died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Cliff Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery at Loup City. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow.

Mrs. Hansen was born Oct. 1, 1913, at York to Henry and Mollie (Huber) Haberman. She graduated from York High School in 1932 and worked as a bookkeeper.

She married William A. Hansen on Aug. 18, 1943. After Mr. Hansen was discharged from the U.S. Army, they moved to Broken Bow in 1948. They purchased, owned and operated Hansen Appliance until their retirement in 1975. Mr. Hansen died Feb. 11, 1991.

Mrs. Hansen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow and the Broken Bow Does.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty (Mrs. Ken) Hultquist of Hawarden, Iowa, and Janet (Mrs. Norm) Savery of Lincoln; and one brother, John Haberman of Fairbury.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Raymond Hansen

CAIRO -- Raymond F. Hansen, 84, of Cairo died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, from the Cairo United Methodist Church. No visitation is planned. Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Quick Response.

Mr. Hansen was born Feb. 18, 1914, to Hans B. and Hannan (Hansen) Hansen.

On Feb. 17, 1940, he married E. Virginia Rentschler in Omaha where he worked as a credit manager for National Refining Company.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 where he served in the Army Air Corps, flying in North Africa. After his return, they lived in Omaha for a while before moving to the farm in Cotesfield. He retired from farming in 1970, moving to Cairo.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Carol Freeman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandsons; two sisters, Elsie Appel of Loveland, Colo., and Eleanor Floyd of Monticello, Ill.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; six sisters and a granddaughter.
