Helen Ivey

AURORA - Helen Marie Ivey, 93, of Aurora, formerly of Fullerton, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Palmer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1905, at Lebanon, Mo., to Francis and Frances (Stott) Ivey. When she was 6 years old, her family moved near Fullerton and farmed near North Star. She moved in 1972 to Fullerton, where she lived until moving to Bethesda Care Center in Central City. She moved to Hamilton Manor in Aurora in March 1994 and lived there until her death.

She was a member of the Fullerton United Methodist Church and a 34-year member of the Fullerton American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include four nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Phipps, Ralph, Wallace and Keith; and three sisters, Lois Davison, Elizabeth Rice and Alma Ivey.

Alethia Maret

WOOD RIVER - Alethia "Babe" Maret, 87, of Wood River died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with the Rev. Larry Nothstine officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Gibbon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell of Omaha, Kenneth of Grand Island and Robert of Wood River; five daughters, Darleen (Mrs. Ed) Staab of Orange, Calif., Margie (Mrs. Charles) Leonard of Mission Viejo, Calif., Elaine (Mrs. Mike) Batenhorst of Kearney, Nancy (Mrs. Jerome) Packer of Wood River and Ramona (Mrs. Dale) Raile of St. Francis, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Maret; one infant son, Adelbert; three brothers and one sister.

Dale Sautter

KEARNEY - Dale D. Sautter, 73, of Kearney, former Buffalo County sheriff, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev. Ron Roemmich will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney and one hour before service time Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice or the church's building fund.

Mr. Sautter was born on March 4, 1925, in Cotesfield to Benjamin and Hulda (Smith) Sautter. He attended school in the Cotesfield area and graduated from Scotia High School. He helped his father farm and was a blacksmith at the age of 20. Later he worked in the body shop business for 18 years.

After that, he was a driver's license examiner and an agent for Farmers Insurance Group. He became a deputy sheriff for Buffalo County in 1960. He was elected Buffalo County sheriff in 1966 and served until 1973. After 1973, he owned and operated Sautter Sales and Service until his retirement.

He married Ila Lawrence on Dec. 26, 1945, in Scotia.

He married Kandy Louise Klingelhoefer on March 4, 1974, in Kearney.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kearney, 30-year member of Buffalo Lodge 38 in Kearney, 25-year member of Eagles Aerie 2722 and a 38-year member of UCT.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Todd, Brian and Terry, all of Kearney, and Larry of Riverside, Calif.; one grandson; two brothers, Marvin of Mount Olive, N.C., and LaVern of Scotia; and two sisters, Alberta Kosmicki of Grand Island and Joan Jindersek of Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Anna Shotkoski

LOUP CITY - Anna H. Shotkoski, 83, of Loup City died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. A vigil celebration will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice, the Polish Heritage Center or the Shotkoski family.

Mrs. Shotkoski was born on April 4, 1915, at Petersburg to John and Mary (Bandur) Eurek. She attended school in Ashton and graduated from Loup City High School in 1933. She taught school in Howard and Sherman counties.

She married Edward "Fritz" Shotkoski on Oct. 24, 1940, in Ashton. They lived on a farm near Arcadia for many years. After retiring from the farm in 1978, they moved to Loup City. She then worked as a dietary manager at the Rose Lane Home until 1986.

She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Survivors include two sons, John Shotkoski and Thomas Shotkoski, both of Lincoln; six daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Pat) Pokorski of Ashton, Patricia (Mrs. Bill) Opp and Rose (Mrs. Tom) Dooley, both of Wood River, Janis (Mrs. Ron) Palu and Joyce (Mrs. Randy) Rowley, both of Grand Island, and Catherine (Mrs. Daniel) Bydalek of Kearney; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Eurek of Loup City and Steve Eurek of Ashton; and one sister, Catherine Eurek of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters, Agnes, Josephine, Rose and Barbara.

Anna Zulkoski

SARGENT - Anna Zulkoski, 93, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent. The Rev. Bernard Berger will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Ruth Crain

Ruth F. Crain, 103, of Grand Island, formerly of Clarinda, Iowa, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Community Care of America in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa. The Rev. Mark Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Clarinda Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crain was born on March 22, 1895, at Bethesda, Iowa, to Charles and Mary (Johnson) Seaburg.

She married John W. Crain on Sept. 1, 1920, at Stanton, Iowa. He died in 1967. Mrs. Crain was a homemaker.

She had moved from Clarinda to Grand Island in 1988 to live with her daughter and stayed with her until entering the care center five years ago.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly (Mrs. Clayton) Yoder of Grand Island; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Fred and Clarence Seaburg; and four sisters, Dora Nyquist, Anna Turner, Esther Hull and Mabelle Hull.

Ellen Drommond

Ellen Drommond, 91, of the Grand Island Veterans Home died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at the home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Chapel at the home. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Francis, Kan., Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
