Kathy L. Mohr
February 21, 1957 - October 13, 2011
Kathy L. Mohr, 54, of Gordon, NE, died Thursday October 13, 2011 at her home. After fighting a valiant fight against cancer for 85 days, the Lord chose to take her home.
She was born February 21, 1957, in Gordon, NE, to Jim and Audrey Benedickt. The family lived between Kyle, SD where her parents ranched and Gordon, NE, where the children attended school. While attending Gordon High School Kathy received the FFA Sweetheart Award on April 27, 1974. She graduated from Gordon High School in 1975 and went to work at Gordon Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide. She then attended Practical Nurses Training School of Alliance and graduated with a LPN September 24, 1978. Kathy returned to Gordon and went to work at Gordon Memorial Hospital on the patient floor and in surgery. She continued in health care for the next 20 years working with Wallace & Panzer MDPC and the Gordon Nursing Home.
May 10, 1980 she married Steven F. Mohr of Gordon and were blessed with 3 children.
Kathy was an active member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and enjoyed participating and sharing with her church community. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, friends, family and animals. She took care of many without thought of herself.
Survivors include her husband Steve; her daughter Kate Kunasek & husband Matt and their two sons, Michael & Jon of Bee, NE; her sons Tyrel & wife Andrea & their son Brayden of Rock Springs, WY, and Kirk of Newtown, ND, her parents Jim & Audrey Benedickt of Gordon, her brother Mike Benedickt & wife Colleen of Sheridan, WY, her sister Susan Wallace of Gordon, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Kirk Benedickt.
A rosary was held Sunday October 16, 2011, 7:00pm at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rushville, NE. A funeral mass was held on Monday, October 17, 2011, 10:00 am with Father Bob Karnish and Father Tim Stoner officiating. Burial was held in the Gordon Cemetery.
A memorial has been established and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366 Gordon, NE 69343.

David Noble
March 29, 1969 - October 16, 2011
David Wayne Noble, 42, of Chadron, Nebraska entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 16, 2011. David was born March 29, 1969 in Chadron, Nebraska to Harold and Bonnie (Chasek) Noble. David was baptized into the Christian faith on June 15, 1969 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
He completed his elementary and secondary education in Chadron graduating with the Chadron High School class of 1987. The friendships he formed with his fellow classmates remain some of his most cherished. David earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Chadron State College in 1991. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree also from CSC in 1993.
Dave worked with many organizations and had several honors and achievements. Some of those organizations included the Chadron Public Schools Board of Education, the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Chadron State College Alumni Foundation and the League of Nebraska Municipalities Accounting and Finance Board of Directors. His honors included: Chadron State College Platinum Eagle Award Recipient, CSC Student representative to the Board of Trustees, CSC Student Senate President and Vice President.
At the time of his death, David was employed as the chief financial officer for the Nebraska Northwestern Railroad. He had also worked in finance positions for the Post Playhouse, City of Alliance, City of Chadron, and Chadron State College.
David married Renae Reifschneider from Hemingford, Nebraska on June 26, 1993 in Chadron. They had three daughters; Ashlynne Michelle, Alyssa Jean, and Aubree LeeAnn. David was proud of his daughters and cherished the time they spent together. David was a devout fan of Nebraska Cornhusker football. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses and petunias. He was an accomplished carpenter and loved riding bicycles with his daughters.
Survivors include Renae and their three daughters, his parents Harold and Bonnie Noble, his sister and brother-in-law Leah and Kurt Nikont of Scottsbluff and his nephews Blake and Brock and niece Bailey. David is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and relatives from the Chasek family, Wholers family, Binger family, Gowin family, and Fisher family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chamberlain Chapel, Chadron, Nebraska with Pastor Ann Sundberg officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Chadron Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, Teen Challenge-180 Ministries or a fund for his daughter's educations.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening and Thursday morning at Chamberlain Chapel.

Theodore Perry Broberg
August 15, 1937 - October 23, 2011
Theodore Perry Broberg, 74, of Chadron, Nebraska died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 4:45 AM in his home surrounded by family and loved ones after battling liver cancer.
Tedd was born August 15, 1937 in Milford, Nebraska to George and Cynthia Broberg and then later adopted at the age of 6 by Simon and Mary Lecher. He then spent the next two years at Holdrege Christian Home until his adopted parents were able to bring him and his three brothers’ home. He spent the rest of his childhood attending Kenwood Elementary School and Chadron Prep School where he loved to play basketball.
He spent three years in the Army stationed in Korea. Upon returning to the United States he had various jobs on the East Coast before returning to Chadron where he started his career on the railroad. He worked for the CNW and UP railroad for thirty three years before retiring in 1997 at which time he became a “house husband.”
Tedd had two previous marriages before meeting and marrying the love of his life and best friend, Patricia J. Wilson. They were married February 2, 1970 in Deadwood, South Dakota. They lived in Chadron until 1990 at which time they resided in Torrington, Wyoming where he finished his career with the railroad. They then moved back to their home in Chadron.
He was an avid Nebraska football fan. He could count on one hand the number of games that he missed. He and Trish built their home from an open field. He loved to landscape and enjoyed remodeling his home. He took various vacations with his family as he loved to travel. Family time was very important too him. He also loved to go to various casinos around the world and enjoyed playing the “slots.” He was an easy, fun-loving guy who loved to tease and had an easy laugh. His door was always open for those who needed a place to hang out whether it was for a short period or an extended period of time. He would return home from work and always ask, “Okay, who’s all here now?”
He leaves behind a loving wife, Trish Broberg; children Loretta and Charlie Gottwald, Chadron; Theodore and Jana Broberg, Sheridan, AK; Jolynn and Todd Lee, Phoenix, Arizona; Jefferson and Stephanie Broberg, Chadron; Elonna Broberg, Bloomington, Indiana; Brothers, Fred Broberg and Bert Broberg, San Antonio, Texas; twelve grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; numerous very special nieces and nephews; and all the other “kids” in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Broberg, and grandson Devin Broberg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel with Pastor Don Ludwick officiating. Final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a lunch to follow at The American Legion Club in Chadron at 123 Bordeaux St.
Pallbearers will be Caristipher Broberg, Joshua Broberg, Brenden Broberg, Griffen Broberg, Scott Morris, Chandler Gottwald, Jeff Beye, and Dakota Heibert. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow railroaders.

Eunice Marie Mandelko
September 15, 1936 - October 24, 2011
Eunice was born September 15, 1936 in Rushville, NE to Sylvester and Josephine Nadobny. She grew up on the family farm, and enjoyed spending time with her brother Albert (Buddy) and cousins until 1950, when her father died and they moved to Chadron, NE. Her mother Josephine married John R. Brown in 1951, and John then adopted Eunice and Buddy. Eunice graduated from high school in 1954 from Assumption Academy. Eunice married Harold E. Mandelko in 1955 and they raised their family in Chadron, NE. Eunice was employed for 27 years in the Dawes County Superintendent of Schools office, and those years in the education system were very rewarding. Eunice spent countless hours playing in the dirt, and her yard was testimony of that, as she won “Yard of the Month” in 2010 by the Chadron Garden Club. Eunice was always ready to pack a bag, and head to a new destination, she recently had taken a cruise to Alaska, and a trip with her daughters to Sanibel Island, Florida. The Red Hat Club, card clubs, volunteer opportunities, and many other clubs were always part of her active schedule.
Eunice is survived by her three sons, Chuck Mandelko, Marty Mandelko, Don (Pam) Mandelko and two daughters Connie (Mike) Jenson and Shelly Mandelko(Jim Winchell), brother Albert (Elizabeth) Brown, sister-in-law Louise (Bill) Hefle, grandchildren Stacy (Tom) Kleinjan, Justin (Leslie Picraux) Mandelko, Dan Mandelko, Paul (Rachel) Mandelko, Tyler Mandelko, Weston Mandelko, Brenna Plank, Cory Plank, and Derek Jensen. Eunice had eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends that she treasured.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday October 29, 2011, 10:00 AM St. Patrick's Catholic Church
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
