U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Monty Warren
Monty Alan Warren, the son of Rodney and Linda (Hanson) Warren, was born on June 18, 1965, in Belleville, Kansas. He died March 2, 2018, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, at the age of 52 years, 8 months, 12 days.
Monty attended the Pike Valley school graduating with the Class of 1983. He continued his education at Cloud County Community College and earned a bachelor of science degree at Wichita State University.
He married Melissa Shadduck and this union was blessed with four children, Cody, Isabelle, Nathan and Courtney. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Amelia Rosetta on Jan. 3, 2015, at Galveston, Texas. Monty was a nursing home administrator in Wilson and Wichita and later moved to Houston where he pursued his career as an EMT.
During Monty's lifetime, he lived in the communities of Marysville, Russell, Mount Pleasant, Texas, Wichita, and Houston (Pearland) Texas.
Monty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Elva Hanson and Ivan and Margaret Warren; and his father, Rodney Warren.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia, of Pearland, Texas; his mother, Linda of Superior; and children, Cody Warren and wife, Helen, of Superior, Isabelle Marquart and husband, Alan, of Bruning, Nathan of Lincoln Nebraska, and Courtney and significant other, Joey, of Superior; four grandchildren, Jeri, Bailey, Trayton and Dawson; and three step-grandchildren, Kya, David and Alexus; and his brother, Craig and wife, Mary, of Salina, Kansas; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Pastor David Johnson officiating.
Music will be selections by Queen for the prelude and postlude and recorded songs "Sound of Silence," and "Heaven."
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7.
Pallbearers will be Troy Warren, Eric Warren, Tony Warren, Craig Tebow, Chris Groth and Brad Van Meter.
Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery near Webber, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Aim at Melanoma Foundation.

Carl Collins
Carl D. Collins, 79, the son of Lucille Eliza (Webber) and Dale Collins, was born March 29, 1938, at Bostwick. He died Feb. 27.
Carl was united in marriage with Wanda Snell. This union was blessed with two sons, David and Joseph. The marriage ended in divorce.
Throughout his working years, Carl was employed as a heavy equipment operator, he drove several million miles in a semi-truck over the road with no accidents, he worked for a period of time as an iron worker in the shipyard, and before his retirement he applied his talents as a handyman.
He was a member of AA and was a mentor to several of the members. Carl was also a member of the Olive Hill Church and he possessed a love for his Lord. His personality was pervaded by a keen sense of humor and he was happiest when he was helping others in need. In his
leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and dancing.
He was preceded in death were his parents; his son, Joseph Collins in 1966; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ivan Klingenberger; and a brother-in-law, Jim Barrett.
Survivors include his son, David Reimers, and wife,
Rhonda, of Palmer, Neb.; three grandchildren, William, Helen and Cheyenne Reimers; a great-granddaughter, Rori Reimers; and two sisters, Gwen Barrett and June Shelton, both of Texas.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Guide Rock cemetery with the Rev. Gary Bennett officiating. A lunch for the family and friends followed at the Congregational Bible Church in Red Cloud.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Williams
Funeral Home in Superior.

Bill B. Schendt
William Bernard Schendt, 92, of Lawrence, Neb., died Thursday at the Blue Hill Care Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1925, to Theodore Schendt and Minnie (Ostdiek) Schendt on a farm near Lawrence in Webster County. He graduated from Mount Clare High School.
Bill was drafted for military service. He failed the physical at Fort Riley and was sent home. On Feb. 1, 1949, he married Lola May Kohmetscher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. They lived and farmed in the Mount Clare area for 40 years. To supplement the farm income, he drove a milk truck for the cheese plant in Red Cloud, hauled chickens for Armour, worked at the cement plant in Superior at the Navy depot in Hastings. At the peak, he milked 45 Holsteins twice a day. He retired and moved to Lawrence in 1989. In retirement he repaired and sold golf carts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; a son, Max; infant triplets; a granddaughter, Teresa Schendt; his parents; three brothers, Bud, Joe and Butch; and two sisters, Geri Ostdiek and Kate Yakus.
Survivors include his sister, Marie James of Olathe; his children, Don Schendt of Tulsa, Okla., Roy Schendt of Broken Arrow, Okla., Betty Weinman of Beatrice, Gene Schendt of Lawrence, Ted Schendt of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Don Baldwin (Lois) of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Mike Kort (Nancy) of Blue Hill, Dale Schendt of Doniphan, Connie Zuroske of Olathe and Jim Schendt of Ames, Iowa; 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial was Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, with Fr. Thomas Schultes officiating. Burial was in St Stephen's cemetery south of Lawrence. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, was in charge of the arrangements.

Byron Jacobson
Byron L. Jacobson, 90, Wamego, Kan., died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Formoso, Kan., the son of Leslie E. and Iva G. (Quy) Jacobson. He attended local schools and graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in business administration. Byron also served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to the end of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign in 1946.
Byron married Donna Jean Swords on Nov. 14, 1953, in Wamego. She preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1977. In 1964, he and Donna moved their family to Wamego where he worked as an independent insurance agent, owning the McKowen-Jacobson Agency for 41 years until retirement.
Byron was always very active in the Wamego community. His memberships included St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Wamego Lions Club, Wamego Chamber of Commerce and the Lafayette Masonic Lodge of Manhattan. He served as mayor of Wamego in 1975-76, USD 320 school board member 1983 to 1985 and numerous civic and volunteer positions. In 2006 he was given the distinction as the Wamego Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a charter member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at KSU.
His survivors include two daughters, Mary Jacobson, Greenwich, Conn., and Barbara Lippman, Wamego, Kan.; three sons, Bryce Jacobson and his wife, Cathy, Overland Park, Kan., Dr. Dane Jacobson and his wife, Kim, Wamego, Kan., and Scott Jacobson and his wife, Hope, Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Janice Oplinger, San Marcos, Calif., and Marvel Korff, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother, Wendell Jacobson, Escondido, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett Jacobson.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Wamego, Kan., with Fr. Mike Peterson officiating. Interment was in the St. Bernard's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wamego Community Foundation to establish the Jacobson Family Charitable Fund. Stewart Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret LaDow
Margaret M. LaDow, 95, died Jan. 27. She was born Sept. 5, 1922, in rural Jewell County to William and Elizabeth (Waszenaar) Dengerink.
She attended Oak Creek School and Athens Rural High School, graduating in May 1939. She married Orville LaDow of Esbon on Dec. 22, 1947, at the Dispatch parsonage. To this union four children were born.
Margaret was a member of the Dispatch Christian Reformed Church, Dorcas Society, BPW Club, Over 60 Club and Lebanon Auxiliary. She taught in rural schools for eight years. She was a retired secretary for Lebanon High School and was past owner of LaDow's Market in Lebanon. After retirement she enjoyed making quilts and doing embroidery work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children, Jolene and Larry; and a brother, Albertus.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Bomberger, Mesa, Ariz.; son, Randall LaDow, Lebanon; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dispatch Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Steve Boersma officiating. Burial was in Odessa Cemetery, rural Lebanon. Domoney Funeral Home, Downs, was in charge of arrangements.

Eva Krebsbach
Eva S. Krebsbach, 99, of Hastings, died last Monday at College View Assisted Living and Memory Support, Hastings. She was born Aug. 2, 1918, near Lawrence, Neb., to William and Dora (Ostdiek) Hoelting, their second child. She attended St. Stephen's School, rural Lawrence. On Oct. 5, 1948, she married Norbert J. Krebsbach at St. Stephen's Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1994. She was a homemaker and a caregiver for the Geyerman family for many years.
Eva was devoted to her family and enjoyed baking bread, cookies, rolls and other treats for family and friends. She also enjoyed embroidering, walking and bird watching. She especially liked cardinals and had an extensive collection of figurines and cardinal items. She was an active member of St. Michael's Altar Society and served funeral luncheons at the church until her late 80s.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; and nine brothers, Daniel, Leroy, Vernon, Arthur, Francis, Richard, Eldon and Victor Hoelting.
She is survived by two sons, Jim and Tom, both of Hastings; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Buescher and Marie Choquette, a brother, Leonard Hoelting; many nieces and nephews and their families.
Rosary was Monday at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection was Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings, with Fr. Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery.

Bill Erickson
Billy Lee Erickson, the son of LeVern and Grace (Turner) Erickson, was born on April 28, 1942, in Superior, Neb. He died on Jan. 26, 2018, at his home in Superior, Neb., at the age of 75 years, eight months and 29 days.
Bill attended Cadams country school and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1959. He enlisted with the National Guard in 1964, serving six years before his honorable discharge in 1970. Bill was united in marriage to Joyce Meester on Oct. 10, 1965, in Fairfield, Neb. This union was blessed with two daughters.
Bill farmed and ranched all his life, until his retirement when he moved into town. While on the farm, he enjoyed his horses, roping, cattle drives and his black velvet and water. He also earned his pilot's license. After retiring, Bill's routine included daily lunch at Dave's Place and driving around the town and country side. He also enjoyed attending the Cattlemen's Classic whenever possible. He loved his grandchildren and family, and spending time with them.
He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Danish Brotherhood, NRA, American Quarter Horse Association, Pheasants Forever and the Cattlemen's Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeVern and Grace; wife, Joyce, on Dec. 25, 2001; and his brother, Robert.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Trauba and husband, Jay, of Grapevine, Texas; and Teresa Erickson of Superior, Neb.; four grandchildren, Courtney Trauba, Danielle Trauba, Abbie Fish and Megan Fish; his brother, David Erickson, and wife, Beth, of Grandville, Ohio; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at 2 p.m., from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Neb., with Randy Rhoads officiating.
Music was "When I Get To Where I'm Going," "Lead Me Home" and "He Walked On Water," provided by Tom Jensen.
Visitation was held on Feb. 2, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers were Ron Erickson, Eric Erickson, Bobby Joe Meester, Carver Abbott, Josh Erickson and Cody Barry. Honorary pallbearers were Duane Meester, Dennis Shroyer, Jim Maxey, Short Shambaugh, Richard Bagley and Jerry Campbell.
Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery at Superior, Neb.
Memorials are suggested to go to the Crest Theatre, in care of the Southern Nebraska Arts Council.
Condolences may be sent to Megrue-Price Funeral Home, 750 N. Commercial, Superior, Neb., 68978.
