LINDSAY - Services for Alvin Preister, 77, Humphrey, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, at Holy Family Catholic Church here. The Rev. James Novotny will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the church in Lindsay with a 7:30 p.m. rosary and scripture service and an 8:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Duesman Funeral Chapel in Humphrey is in charge of the arrangements. He died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his home near Humphrey.

Services for Vernon J. Carstens, 82, Norfolk, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Revs. Randy Bader and Howard Mohlke will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Norfolk. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 16 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Home for Funerals in Norfolk. He died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

He died of a heart attack on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

The couple died Sunday, May 30, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident.
