Cecil Brant, 81
4/22/16 - 5/17/97
Cecil Brant, 81 of Blair died Saturday, May 17, 1997 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Campbell - Aman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Cecil Brant was born April 22, 1916 at Upland, Nebr., to Nels and Christina ( Petersen ) Brant. He attended school in Minden, Nebr. In 1939, he moved to Blair. In December of 1941, he married Florence McCrady. On April 28, 1942, he entered the military and served in the Army during World War II. He was in the battles at Sicily, Naples - Foggia and the Rhineland. After his return from the service, he worked for the Jensen Well Company for 33 years.

Survivors are his wife, Florence; two sons and daughters - in - law, Marlin and Pam Brant, Westbrook, Me. and Rick and Betty Brant of Blair; a daughter and son - in - law Barb and Roy Petitt, Miles City, Mont.; eight grandchildren; three great - grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth of Stockton, Calif.

Marian Schroeder, 77

Marian M. Schroeder, 77 of Blair died Wednesday, May 14, 1997 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services were Monday morning at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery at Blair.

Marian M. Schroeder was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, Nebr. to Henry J. and Anna C. ( Heltenberg ) Schroeder. She was a 1937 graduate of Fort Calhoun High School and lived most of her life in the Washington County area. She was supervisor of the bookkeeping department at D. L. Blair Corporation, where she worked for 18 years until retiring in April of 1992.

She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and was a recipient of the Mullen Award.

Survivors are her sister, Veronica Fuhrman of Blair; a sisters - in - law, Dolores Miller of Tekamah and Joan Schroeder of Vermillion, S. D.; a brother - in - law, Elwood Miller of Tekamah and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Schroeder, Raymond Schroeder and Robert Schroeder and a sister, Katharine Schroeder.

Campbell - Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roberta Winkler, 45
4/21/51 - 5/14/97
Roberta Ann Jones Winkler, 45, of Nickerson and a former Austin, Minn., resident died at Nickerson Wednesday, May 14, 1997.

Services were Sunday, May 18, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Rev. Paul E. Nelson officiated. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Austin.

Roberta Ann Jones Winkler was born April 21, 1951 in Cherokee, Iowa to Arthur M. and Pauline Shaefer Jones. She attended St. Augustine Elementary School and graduated from Pacelli High School and the Rochester School of Cosmetology. She was a breeder of champion Cairn Terriers and a professional pet groomer.

On Aug. 27, 1983 she married William A. Winkler in Austin.

She was an active member of the Cairn Terrier Club of America; Platte Valley Kennel Club of Fremont and the Greater Omaha Terrier Association.

She is survived by her husband, William A. "Bill;" Winkler; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. and Roberta Jones, Austin; a nephew, Casey Jones, Minneapolis, Minn. and two nieces, Jennifer Jones Krook of Minneapolis and Samantha Jones of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be given to the Foundation of Cairn Terrier Club of America.

Mayer Funeral Home in Austin was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Nelson, 94

Helen Marie Nelson, 94 of Battle Creek, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997 at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. Rev. Benjamin Ray will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Helen Marie Nelson was born Oct. 14, 1902 in Rising City, Nebr., to Oscar I. and Julia (Morgan) Bond. She attended school and graduated from Hartington, Nebr., High School. She attended Wayne State Teacher's College and taught for many years.

On April 26, 1923, she married D. Laurence Nelson. They lived in the Hartington area until 1945 when they moved to Iowa.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek; the Ladies Aide; Ladies Country Club and the Battle Creek Senior Citizens.

She is survived by one son and daughter - in - law, David and Jewell Nelson of Bellevue, Nebr.; two daughters and sons - in - law, Barbara and Wendell Klanderud of Blair and H. Sue and Lyle Kapaska of Sac City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 22 great - grandchildren and one great - great - grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Laurence on Oct. 29, 1973; one grandchild, Bruce Klanderud and one brother, Art Bond.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Willow Dale Care Center or the Battle Creek Senior Citizens Center.

Christensen - Ciha Funeral Homes in Ida Grove, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Kimberly and Todd Stahlnecker of Blair are the parents of a daughter, Mackenzie Rose, who was born Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, measuring 20 inches long.

Her grandparents are Paul and Geraldine Stahlnecker of Honey Creek, Iowa; and Dwight and Rose Morrow of Crescent, Iowa.

Paxton Thomas Sternberg

Danielle and Eric Sternberg of Blair are the parents of a son, Paxton Thomas, who was born May 6, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He weighed 9 pounds, 13 ounces, measuring 22 inches long.

He joins one sister, Presley Sternberg, 4.

His grandparents are Dan and Joy Baker of Blair; Tom Sternberg of Blair; and Dee Sternberg of Omaha.

His great - grandparents are Phyllis and Roger Stricklet of Blair; and Lillian Sternberg.

Gene Ahern of Denver, Colo. is his great-grandfather.

Mollie Bea Nickerson

Elizabeth and Timothy Nickerson of Blair are the parents of a daughter, Mollie Bea, who was born May 8, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, measuring 20 1/2 inches long.

Her grandparents are Eldon and Mary Maxwell of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and Marcia Nickerson of Blair.

Her great - grandparents are Dale and Julie Maxwell of Ashton, Iowa; Kay Siebsen of Little Rock, Iowa; and Jackie Sheets of Fremont.

Buela Ladd of Fremont is her great-grandmother.
