Christine M. Newson, Greenville, N.C., Oct. 22, 2009, age 46

Christine Margit Newsom of Greenville, N. C., died Oct. 22. She was born Dec.14, 1962, in Washington D.C. to Keith and Brigitte Newsom of Fort Washington Forest, Md., the youngest of their three children.
When she was eight years old the family moved to Albuquerque, N.M. She graduated from El Dorado high school in 1980 and the University of New Mexico in 1984.
Christine’s early accomplishments were all the more remarkable because while she was still in middle school and high school her mother became more and more incapacitated from the ravages of Huntington’s disease. Her mother died in 1984 at age 50. Unfortunately, Christine inherited the gene for Huntington’s disease for which there is no cure and which invariably results in an early death. During her long illness Christine demonstrated great courage and good humor, but the illness is debilitating, cruel and relentless.
Christine is survived by her father Keith R. Newsom of Greenville, N.C.; sister Sylvia (William) Hunneke of Greenville, N.C.; her brother Rob (Sidney) Newsom of Richland, Wash.; and her aunt Hazel Hanson of Marysville, Kan.
Christine has been cremated and no services will be held at this time. A small informal memorial service is planned tentatively for next spring at Woodland cemetery in North Bend. At that time, on a plot next to her uncle Jack Newsom, a grave stone honoring Christine and her immediate family members will be dedicated.
Memorials may be directed to your charity of choice or to the Huntington Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018. Obit dated Nov. 4, 2009

He later attended the University of Nebraska where he received his BA, Northwestern University where he received his MA, and Pepperdine University where he received his MBA.
He served in the Army as a Military Policeman in Korea in the late 1950s and retired from the Army Reserves at age 62 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
After marrying his first wife in 1959 (they later divorced) he moved to Palo Alto, California and began a distinguished career at Ampex, running at different times the International and the Data Systems Divisions. He traveled extensively during his career, through the Soviet Union, Asia, South America, and Europe. He retired in 1989 as an Executive Vice President.
After retiring from Ampex, he began another career as a teacher of International Relations and Marketing at Notre Dame University and the University of San Francisco.
He married Diane Hull in 1983, and they bought a ranch on the coast of Pescadero. David loved Pescadero, and said that he didn’t want to leave unless it was feet first.
David was an avid collector all his life, collecting local art, Indian baskets, Irish and English china, Nebraskan quilts, African and Mexican folk art and, his favorite of all, beach glass and beach rocks. To support this hobby he bought and ran an antique store, Country Roads, in Pescadero. He loved gardening, music, animals, his grandchildren, and was a voracious reader. And even though he had been a vice president of a high tech company, he hated the internet and email.
He is survived by his wife Diane, his children Cathe, David, Sue, Jim, Sean, Randy and Brett, his beloved grandchildren Jacquie, Max, Emma, Louis and Beth; sister Mary Ida Wisnieski of Fremont and brothers Chic Chapman of Grand Island and John Chapman of Texas.
Services will be held at Pescadero Community Church on October 27 at noon. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Coastside Adult Day Health Care Center in Half Moon Bay.
