Before retiring, he was director of placement for Teachers College, Columbia University, where he worked for 16 years.
He was a graduate of Slippery Rock (Pa.) Teachers College and received a master's degree from Fairfield University.
He was a member of the New Jersey and National Education associations, the American Association of School Administrators, and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
He was a Marine Corps veteran.

ANTHONY DeMAURO, 83, of Bergenfield died Thursday.
Before retiring, he was a custodian for Northern Valley Regional High School, Old Tappan.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.

WINIFRED A. "PAT" FITZPATRICK DOWNING, 82, of Dumont died Thursday.
Before retiring, she worked for Wilson Mechanical Co. and MetLife, both in New York State.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Haworth.

THERESA DUREN, 33, of Paterson died Wednesday.
She worked for Paterson Housing Authority Security Services.

GERTRUDE EBERT, 91, of Westwood died Thursday.
She was born in Germany.

ROBERT L. FLORE, 55, of Toms River, formerly of Paramus, died Thursday.
He was in the Air Force Reserves.
He was a graduate of Villanova University.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church, Paramus.

JANE MILLER GIBBS, 91, of Mount Pleasant, Mich., formerly of Tenafly, died Wednesday.
She had been a promoter for Liberty Records, Doris Day, and Motown.

ELSIE I. CARLSON HEALY, 87, of Clifton died Friday.
Before retiring, she worked for Federal Sweets, Clifton.

IRENE E. HERZOG, 82, of Garfield died Wednesday.
Before retiring, she worked for Ohrbach's department store, Paramus.

JAMES M. HUGHES of Fort Lee died Thursday.
Before retiring in 1980, he was a partner at Bigham, Englar, Jones & Houston, New York City, where he worked for 38 years.
He was a graduate of City College of New York and St. John's University Law School.
He was admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the District Courts for Southern and Eastern New York, and New York State courts.
He had also been an assistant attorney general for New York State.
He was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association, the Catholic Speakers Assembly, the Knights of Columbus, and the Telistians.
He was a parishioner of Madonna R.C. Church, Fort Lee.

ALBINO MANZI, 82, of Toms River, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, died Friday.
Before retiring in 1980, he was a tractor-trailer driver for Time-D.C. Co., Secaucus, where he worked for 25 years.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hasbrouck Heights.

DENNIS M. NOLAN, 38, of Carlstadt, formerly of Kearny and Rutherford, died Friday.
He was a roofer for Hackensack Roofing Co.

ANTONINA CIOK PERUN, 91, of Clifton died Friday.
Born in Poland, she came to the United States in 1962.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic.

JOSEPH A. PINTO, 85, of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Garfield, died May 27.
Before retiring in 1979, he was a truck driver for A&P Food Market, Kearny.
Previously, he owned Pinto Scrap Metal, Garfield, for 40 years.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, Garfield.
He was a member of the Northern New Jersey chapter of the Teamsters Union.

JANE GEFFINGER REED, 77, of Hasbrouck Heights, formerly of Rutherford, died Thursday.
Before retiring in 1987, she was a registered nurse at the office of Dr. Cartnick, Wood-Ridge.
She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi R.C. Church, Hasbrouck Heights.

DOROTHY POTOSNAK SCHWOY, 75, of Elmwood Park died Thursday.
Before retiring in 1985, she was a clerical worker for ITT, Clifton.
