KATHERINE BATCHELOR MARGARETTA, 82, of South Amboy died May 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a lifelong resident of South Amboy. She was employed at the South Amboy Public Library for 19 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she was a homemaker. She served as president of Friends of the Library following her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. She was predeceased by her husband, John Margaretta in 1979; a son, Jack Margaretta in 1944; a sister, Maybelle Stewart; and two brothers, Mel and C. Leslie Batchelor. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Elaine Margaretta of Freehold, William and Toni Margaretta of Burlington, David and Irene Margaretta of Old Bridge, and Rick and Danielle Margaretta of Ocean Gate; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Richard Van Reed of South Amboy, Kathy and Robert Vlcej of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, and Leslie Ann and Joseph Demeter of South Amboy; three sisters, Ada Lie of Morgan, Mary Ford of South Amboy, and Dorothy Freiwald of East Brunswick; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Memorial donations may be made to the Dowdell Library of South Amboy, 100 H.G. Hoffman Plaza, South Amboy 08879, or the South Amboy First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 328, South Amboy 08879.

MARVINA JENSEN NIELSEN, 94, of Matawan and formerly Milltown, died May 7 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Sayreville, she was a lifelong resident of Sayreville, South River and Milltown. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Nielsen in 1969; three brothers, Hans Jensen, Aage Jensen and Otto Jensen; and three sisters, Petra Jensen, Marie Musle and Minnie Oasen. She is survived by her son, Mel Nielsen of Saratoga, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Burial was at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick.

PAUL N. ROCKAFELLOW, 91, of Freehold Township died May 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Little York, he lived in Keansburg, Red Bank, Middletown, Keyport and Millstone Township before relocating to Freehold Township. He was vice president of Rockafellow Construction Co., Matawan. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Freehold. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Hyer, who died in 1994; and a daughter, Betty R. Rockafellow, in 1993. He is survived by a son, Bertram N. Sr. of Freehold Township; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Private graveside services were held at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

LOUISE A. CUNNINGHAM, 77, of Middletown died May 6 at home. Born in Boston, Mass., she lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Shadow Lake Village six years ago. She was a custody administrator for Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City, for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Her activities included serving as a volunteer delivery person for Meals on Wheels, Red Bank, and membership in the Vested Vultures Group at Chase Manhattan Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, James Cunningham in 1981. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Joan Snode of Staten Island, N.Y., and Patricia and Robert Caruso of the Leonardo section of Middletown; and three granddaughters, Jennifer Snode, Meghan Caruso and Gabrielle Caruso. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Memorial donations may be made to Meridian Hospice, Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.

THERESA A. ROSE, 82, of Keyport died May 6 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Union Beach, she was a lifelong Keyport resident. She was a homemaker. Her activities included presidency of the Keyport Library, 52-year active member and active treasurer of the Keyport Fire Department, and 38-year member of the Keyport Mothers Club. She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Rose Sr. in 1998. She is survived by her son, J. Robert Rose Jr. of Holmdel; her daughter, Theresa A. Storey of Middletown; three brothers, Anthony Diodato of Keyport, Louis Diodato Jr. of Toms River, and Dominick Diodato of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mary Carhart of Matawan, and Ann Zimmerman of Florida; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720 or Keyport Fire Department, P.O. Box 70, Keyport 07735.

VIRGIL G. VIEYTES, 84, of Hazlet died May 6 at home. Born in Spain, he resided in Bayonne prior to moving to Hazlet six years ago. He was a mechanic at CAS Chemical, Bayonne, for several years, retiring in 1983. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a Master Mason at Harmony Lodge No. 18, F&AM, Toms River, and a member of the Keyport Seniors. He was predeceased by his wife, Antoinette Vieytes in 1996. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Karl Grier of Hazlet; his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Virginia Vieytes of Beach Haven; and three grandchildren, Peter Vieytes Jr. of Beach Haven, and Michele Vieytes and Mark Vieytes, both Hazlet. Memorial donations may be made to Keyport Senior Center Advisory Committee, 110 Second St., Keyport 07735.

RANDOLPH E. FRANCK, 51, of Hazlet died May 7 at home. Born in Iowa, he resided in Hazlet the past 35 years. He was a mail carrier for Matawan Post Office for 15 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Navy during peacetime. He was a member of the American Legion, Keyport. He was predeceased by his father, Milton E. Franck in 1995; and his mother, Wilma K. Franck in 1998. He is survived by three sisters, Christine Groden of Boothwyn, Pa., Sheila Alsman of Matawan, and Renee Zimmerman of Hazlet; two nieces; and four nephews.

FRANCIS G. "HANK" KILEY, 82, of Hazlet died May 9 at home. Born in Jersey City, he moved to Hazlet 45 years ago. He was the owner of the Kiley Bar, Hazlet, from the late 1960s to 1974; and the owner-operator of Colonial Liquors, Shrewsbury, from 1974 to 1992. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, and a past vice president of the parish’s Holy Name Society. He was one of the original organizers and a coach for the Hazlet Pop Warner Football program in the early 1960s. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas J., who died in 1972. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Cowan Kiley; three sons, Frank G. of Tinton Falls, Eugene G. of Hazlet, and Robert W. of Brick; a daughter, Mary Dill of Brick; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Family Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Family Church, Union Beach 07735.

PHILOMENA "MINNIE" L. DURANTE, 77, of Keyport died May 10 at home. She was born in Matawan, where she lived before moving to Keyport 50 years ago. She was an office clerk and saleswoman for Lilly Tulip Inc., Holmdel, for 15 years before her retirement. She is survived by a brother, Ludwig Durante of Keyport; three sisters, Julia Germak of Matawan, Nancy Bellezza of Toms River and Perry Park of New Haven, Conn.; and 40 nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2600 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

PAUL RUIZ, 37, of Hazlet died May 10 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Havana, Cuba, he had lived in Newark and Union City before moving to Hazlet 15 years ago. He was a longshoreman for the International Longshoremen’s Association, Port Elizabeth, for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, who is expecting their second child in November; a daughter, Olivia Ruiz, at home; his parents, Raul and Onia Ruiz of Hazlet; a brother and sister-in-law, Miguel and Dorothy Ann Ruiz of Freehold; and one nephew. The interment took place at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
