YOLANDA "VIOLA" M. SHIAVONE RELLA, 87, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Feb. 3 at Beachview Extended Care Facility, Keansburg. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Lincroft in 1980. She was a machine operator for ILGWU, New York City, for 42 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Ann’s Guild, Lincroft. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominick Rella, in 1996. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Joan Rella of Howell. A funeral gathering will be held Feb. 6 at 9:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s, Central New Jersey Chapter, 12 Roszel Road, Suite C203, Princeton 08540.

JAMES R. ENGLISH, 73, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen died Jan. 22 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Union Beach, he resided in Keyport prior to moving to Cliffwood Beach 15 years ago. He was a millwright for National Lead, Sayreville, for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion, Union Beach, as well as the National Guard. He was predeceased by his son, William English in 1978. He is survived by his wife, Ellen C. Robertson-English of Cliffwood Beach; five sons, Thomas English of Cliffwood Beach, James English, Michael English, and Jonathon English, all of Keyport; and Dennis English of Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Mary Ellen Aull and Debbie Haviland, both of Keyport; and Helen Hanrahan of Key Largo, Fla.; three brothers, John English of Sanibel, Fla., William English of Fort Myers, Fla., and Joseph English of the Morganville section of Marlboro; and nine grandchildren. A funeral service was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

LILLY CICCIO, 91, of Hazlet died Jan. 26 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Astoria, N.Y., prior to moving to Hazlet 10 years ago. She was a self-employed seamstress for 50 years, retiring in 1978. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Ciccio, in 1975. She is survived by her son, Salvatore Ciccio; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Burial will be at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, the Bronx, N.Y.

DONALD M. SCOLA, 90, of Middletown died Jan. 26 at Avante Nursing Home, Red Bank. Born in Montclair, he resided there and in Glen Ridge prior to moving to Middletown 40 years ago. He was a retired owner, breeder and trainer of thoroughbred horses for 35 years. He was a member of the Bloomfield Racing Homer Club; and as a cat lover, took care of thousands of strays during his lifetime. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Edith Scola. He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Suzanne, Leigh and Brian Bugbee, all of Middletown; his sister, Evie Fleming of Glen Ridge; and his niece, Maryann Brinning of Montclair.

NATALIE CONSTANCE DUSENBERRY ZITO, 96, of Hazlet died Jan. 15 at Madison Center, Matawan. Born in New York City, she lived in the Bronx, prior to moving to Hazlet in 1970. She was a homemaker as well as an avid quilter. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred E. Zito. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Leah Granger of Marlboro Township; her sister, Elizabeth Ada Nixon of Millerton, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Laurel MacDowell, Lois Granger-Streepy and Robert Henry Granger III. Funeral services were held at the funeral home and officiated by the pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Freehold. Burial was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.

HENRIETTE M. GILMORE, 76, of Middletown died Jan. 23 at home. Born in Belgium, she moved to the United States during wartime and resided in Middletown the past 45 years. She was predeceased by her brother, Jacques Oyen. She is survived by her husband with whom she celebrated her 56th anniversary Jan. 3, William Gilmore of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Smith of Holmdel, and Simonne and Joseph Dorris of Elkton, Md.; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Ruth Gilmore Jr. of Lakehurst; her sister-in-law, Florence Oyen of Belgium; and her niece, Henriette Vandervaeren of Belgium. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

WALTER G. NEFF JR., 76, of Union Beach died Jan. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Orange, he resided in Union Beach the past 48 years. He was an insurance underwriter for Cigna Insurance, N.Y., for 18 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II at the Normandy Landing, occupation of Germany, European/African Campaigns, and the liberation of France; and received the Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal. He was at the Normandy Landing. He was a communicant and head usher for 25 years at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was also a member of its Holy Name Society, and named its Man of the Year in 1993, and the Holy Name Society County Man of the Year in 1994. He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and belonged to the Serra of Monmouth County. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Finnerty Neff of Union Beach; two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter G. and Jacqueline Neff III of Lakewood, and James J. and Christine Neff of Atlantic Highlands; three brothers, Frederick Neff of Millville, Robert Neff of Verona, and Paul Neff of Parsippany; his sister, Nadine McNally of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Route 36, Union Beach 07735.

MARY E. GESUALDI, 76, of Middletown died Jan. 22 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in Keansburg and Hazlet prior to moving to Middletown 10 years ago. She was an executive secretary for United Jersey Bank (formerly Peoples National Bank), Keyport and Red Bank, for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Gesualdi, in 1996; and her son, Paul Gesualdi, in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Orlacchio of Middletown; her brother, Anthony Gesualdi of Red Bank; two sisters, Nancy Valentine and Ida DiMuro, both of the Bronx; and three grandchildren. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

GEORGE R. SCHEPP of Middletown died Jan. 21 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, New Brunswick. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y. He was an engineering supervisor for Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, for 42 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, he worked with Bell Laboratories on the telestar communication project, and at Western Electric, New York City. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II performing submarine service on both the USS Skipjack and USS Plaice. He was past president of the Christian Brothers Academy Fathers Club. He was predeceased by his son, Paul Richard Schepp; his brother, Charles Schepp; and his sister, Elizabeth Schepp. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcella Donnelly Schepp of Middletown; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark and Robina Schepp of Middletown, George T. Schepp of Monmouth Beach, and Richard P. Schepp of Atlanta; his brother, Francis Schepp of Yonkers, N.Y.; his sister, Helen Plunkett of Bronxville, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Att.: communications division, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.

CHARLES T. VENA SR., 64, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen died Jan. 19 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in Cliffwood Beach. He was the owner and operator of CT Vena Excavating, Cliffwood Beach, retiring in 1995. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Grey and Anna Tier. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Vena of Cliffwood Beach; two sons, Allan Vena of Keansburg, and Charles T. Vena Jr. of Cliffwood Beach; two daughters, Donna Marie Cook of Cliffwood Beach, and Missy Harder of Palm Bay, Fla.; six sisters, Louise Secondi, Connie Redmond, Shirley Hackmann, Carol Currier, Rosemary Nichols, and Marlene Kerchner; two brothers, Thomas Vena and John Vena; and eight grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be offered Jan. 23 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 Route 22 East, Union 07083.
