Joseph “Bosco” Fusco Jr.

Mr. Fusco, 71, of Jackson, died July 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Florida before moving to Jackson 10 years ago. He was a longshoreman for the U.S. Coast Guard, International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local No. 1247, Jersey City. Surviving are two brothers, Lawrence Fusco of Georgia and Robert Sinclare of Florida; and a sister, Nancyann Minka of Tinton Falls. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.

Richard “Dick” Dalton

Mr. Dalton, 79, of Red Bank, died Aug. 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there prior to moving to Red Bank 15 years ago. He was an administrator at Dunn & Bradstreet, New York City, retiring after 15 years. He was a crossing guard at Markham Place School, Little Silver. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of and usher at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 197, Long Island Council, Brooklyn, N.Y., and American Legion No. 273, Madeira Beach, Fla. He enjoyed time with his family. He was predeceased by two brothers. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Myron Kozak of Point Pleasant, Barbara and Chris Gillespie of Little Silver, and Kathleen and Harry Haigood of San Francisco; his former wife, Teresa Fawls; five sisters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, 1201 Monroe Ave., Asbury Park 07712.

Jean Ann (Wilby) Bond

Mrs. Bond, 80, of Dresher, Pa., and formerly Red Bank, died March 1 at the Dresher Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dresher, Pa., following a lengthy illness. She was a retired electronics draftsman at Signal Corps Engineering Labs, Bellmawr, during World War II. She was a member of the Jarrettown United Methodist Church, Dresher, Pa. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Howard A. Bond of Dresher; a daughter, Suzanne J. (Bond) Pirmann of Barto, Pa.; a son, Bruce A. Bond of Dresher; and one granddaughter. Interment was in the Jarrettown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dresher. Arrangements were by Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, Ambler, Pa. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 625 West Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428; or to Jarrettown United Methodist Church, 1460 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025.

Elaine P. Barton

Mrs. Barton, 55, of Freehold, formerly of Middletown, died July 26 at her home. She had been a teacher at Bayview and Fairview elementary schools in Middletown for 33 years before retiring this year. She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Newark State Teachers College, and received her master’s degree from Kean College, Union. She was the recipient of the 1998 Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award and was Teacher of the Year for her school that year. Mrs. Barton is survived by her parents, Eleanor (Concannon) and Bernard Barton of Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Ray Williamson of Leonardo; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Lynne Barton of Monroe, Conn.; two nephews; three nieces; three grandnephews and two grandnieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Eugene E. Barrett

Mr. Barrett, 95, of Keyport, died Aug. 4 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., he resided there prior to moving to Keyport in 1919. He was a retired tool and die maker at Motion Systems Corp., Eatontown. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was predeceased by a son, Eugene W. Barrett in 1999; two sisters, Helen Vena and Grace Ryan; and a brother, Francis Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve Poling Barrett of Keyport; two sons, James Barrett of Venice, Fla., and William Barrett of San Jose, Calif.; five daughters, Judith Wolf of Rumson, Susan Grzyb of Little Egg Harbor, Carol Riley of Florence, Genevieve Bagnell of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, and Marian Barrett at home; a sister, Katherine Britten of Largo, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Elizabeth W. “Nicky” Moss

Mrs. Moss, 87, died Oct. 22 at New Jersey Veterans Home, Menlo Park, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Baltimore, she resided in the Shore area before moving to Middletown, where she resided 50 years. Mrs. Moss was a nurse at St. James School, Red Bank, and Red Bank Catholic High School, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was also employed part-time at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, from 1970-94, and prior to that, at Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a nurse from 1943-45. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a member of the Shadow Lake Socializers Club, Shadow Lake section of Middletown. Mrs. Moss was predeceased by her husband, Robert Moss, in 1964; and two brothers, Ridgley Nichols, in 1996, and Donald Nichols, in 1999. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Bliss of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Kathryn Moss of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Steve Nichols of Baltimore; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Church, followed by interment at Lorraine Park Cemetery, Woodlawn, Md. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Women in Military Service to America Memorial, 1 Memorial Way, Arlington, VA 22211.

Barbara H. Ragg Twomey

Mrs. Twomey, 96, of Red Bank, died July 3 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Winslow Junction she resided in Linden prior to moving to Red Bank in 1990. She was a pediatric nurse at Perth Amboy General Hospital, from 1961 until retirement at age 70. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah Twomey in 1977; two brothers, Herman and Eugene; and three sisters, Marie, Anna and Claire. She is survived by a son, Joseph Twomey of Red Bank; two daughters, Barbara Psichos of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Mary McCormick of El Cerrito, Calif.; a sister, Alice Carroll of Clark; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be July 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral service will be July 8 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. Memorial donations may be made to Meridian Hospice, 4900 Route 33, Neptune 07753.

Charles E. Hunt

Mr. Hunt, 81, of Red Bank, died June 29 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in New York City prior to moving to Red Bank. He was a retired banquet waiter at the Roosevelt Hotel, New York City. He served with the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Hotel, Restaurant and Club Employees and Bartenders Union Local No. 6 AFL-CIO. He enjoyed playing tennis, and was a tennis coach. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jay Hunt and Burnadair Lipscomb-Hunt of New York City; a daughter, Elke Kelly of Atlanta; a sister, Elaine Hunt; and one nephew, and three nieces. A memorial gathering will be July 9 from 2-4 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Peter J. Pauels Sr.

Mr. Pauels, 87, of Rumson, died June 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Rumson the past 78 years. He was the owner of Pauel’s Boats, Rumson, for 50 years, worked at the Rumson boat ramp and was a member of the ramp club, and was a crossing guard for Rumson Grammar School. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. He was an active 65-year member of Oceanic Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, Rumson. He was also a member of the Rumson Exempt Fire Association, Special Police of Rumson, Moxley Abacus Lodge No. 78 Free and Accepted Masons, Fair Haven, and Elks Lodge No. 227, Red Bank. He was also a past member of Charity Court 38 Order of the Amaranth, Fair Haven, and Navy League of the United States. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Pauels in 2003, and a son, Peter J. Pauels Jr. in 1998. He is survived by a son, Arthur “Nippy” Pauels of Rumson; two daughters-in-law, Mary E. Pauels of Rumson, and Patsy Pauels of California; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Anita Silk

Mrs. Silk, 86, of Tinton Falls, died June 8 at Renaissance Gardens at Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls. Born in Irvington, she had lived in Middlesex before moving to Tinton Falls three years ago. Mrs. Silk was an executive secretary for Midland Ross, South Bound Brook, before her retirement. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Middlesex, where she was active in many church organizations. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Silk, in 1999. Mrs. Silk is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Pat Silk of Freehold; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Memorial donations may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch 07740. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Diane J. Coppola

Mrs. Coppola, 59, of Tinton Falls, died June 6 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Tinton Falls four years ago. She was a medical receptionist at Middletown Pediatrics the past 19 years. She was a communicant of St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church, Wayside section of Ocean Township. She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Coppola; two daughters, Robin C. Tedesco of Roxbury, and Victoria D. Geraud of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; a son, Scott C. Coppola of Berlin, N.J.; two brothers, Edward Johnson of Florida, and Warren Johnson of Long Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anselm’s Church. Interment was at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Road, Union 07083; or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 27106, New York City NY 10087-7106.
