GERTRUDE V. PELHAM MITCHELL, 91, of Old Bridge died April 16 at home. Her husband, Frank P. Mitchell, died in 1987. Surviving are three sons, Paul Mitchell of Glencoe, Ill., Thomas Mitchell of Holmdel and Peter Mitchell of Staten Island, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Catherine’s Church, Holmdel. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Memorial contributions may be made to Arc of Monmouth County, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.

JOSEPH STORES SR., 83, of Sayreville died April 14 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his re­tirement in 1980, he was employed as a chemical operator with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 42 years. His wife, Mariethel Latham Stores, died in 1988, and a daughter, Ruth Stores, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Joseph Stores Jr. of Sayreville; two daughters, Daryl Hoffman of Middletown and Dawn Golembieski of Sayreville; four sisters, Mary Pence of Lakeland, Fla., Claire Reilly of South Amboy, Joan Kirk of Sayreville and Peggy Rusin of Warren; several nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren. A liturgy of the word was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

JOSEPH KOVAL, 75, of the Parlin sec­tion of Sayreville died April 14 at home. He was the former owner of Little Joe’s A-1 Service, Sayreville. Surviving are his wife, Iris Lea Hager Koval; a daughter, Joanne Hockenjos of Sayreville; a brother, Nicholas Koval of Carteret; a sister, Kathryn Donelon of Highland Park; and a grandson. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.

THELMA C. "CHICK" MARLOW MENDLER, 90, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, formerly of South Amboy, died April 16 in Summerhill Nursing Home, Old Bridge. Prior to her retirement, she was em­ployed as a cook at Club Bené, Morgan. Her husband, George C. Mendler, died in 1958, and a son, James Mendler, died in 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley McCue of South Amboy and Thelma Burlew of Morgan; a sister, Gertrude Brennan of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Sayreville.

BRIDGETTE BURKE WIECZOREK of Old Bridge died April 14 at home. Surviving are her husband, Martin Wieczorek; a step­son, Martin Wieczorek Jr. of Keansburg; a stepdaughter, Christal Sheridan of South Amboy; two brothers, Frank Patlano of Boonton and James Burke of Manalapan; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

ROSE P. CAMPBELL STAMPER, 75, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died April 14 at home. Surviving are her husband, James Stamper; two sons, James of Jersey City and Scott of Belmar; a brother, Patrick Campbell of Jersey City; and two sisters, Bridget O’Neill and Catherine Bardon, both of Ireland. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice of New Jersey, 66 Mount Prospect Ave., Building C, Clifton, NJ 07013.

KATHERINE TORRE, 80, of Old Bridge died April 17 at home. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was a teacher with Old Bridge Public Schools. Her husband, Dominick, died in 1983. Surviving area two sons, Robert of Old Bridge and Jerry of Staten Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Karen Gaunt of Old Bridge; a brother, Eldridge Fife of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A service was held at Simpson United Methodist Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Forest Green Park Mausoleum, Morganville section of Marlboro.

ELIZABETH HAYDEN DeFAZIO of East Brunswick, formerly of Sayreville, died April 17 at home. Her husband, Carl DeFazio, died in 1992. Surviving are a son, Carl DeFazio of Spotswood; a daughter, Jo Anne Thomore of East Brunswick; five grandchil­dren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Forest Green Park Mausoleum, Morganville section of Marlboro.

FREDERICK NORMAN FISCHER, 75, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died April 15 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. He was a former member of the Sayreville Planning Board and the Sayreville Board of Appeals. A daughter, Norma Jeanne Fischer, died in 1998. Surviving are his wife, June Belanger Fischer; a daughter, Catherine Townsend of Spotswood; a grandson; and two great-grandsons. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in the church mausoleum.

JAMES S. ORSO, 81, of North Brunswick died April 15 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospi­tal, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident of North Brunswick. He was the owner of Orso Nursery, North Brunswick, prior to retirement in 1991. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. He is survived by four nephews, Orin Orso and Pat Orso of North Brunswick, George Orso of Montgomery, and Thomas Farino Jr. of Jamesburg; three nieces, Monica Orso of New Brunswick, and Patricia David and Kathy Holert of Seattle, Wash.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. Interment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
