MORRIS RICHTER, 91, of Freehold died May 15 at home. He was born in Bendzin, Poland, and lived in Rutland, Vt., before moving to Freehold 40 years ago. He owned and operated the Town Shop, Freehold, for 30 years. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim, Freehold, and a former member of the Freehold Chamber of Commerce. He was predeceased by his wife, Bina Richter, in 1976; and a son, Garry Richter, in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Harry Mark Richter, Gainesville, Fla., and Donald Richter, Freehold; and two granddaughters. Interment was in Congregation Agudath Achim Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, 07702.

DOROTHY ROSENTHAL, 88, of Manalapan died May 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Passaic for 35 years before moving to Manalapan 27 years ago. She was a catalog clerk for Sears in Wayne for 14 years before retiring in 1980. She is survived by her husband, Philip; a son, Stephen, of Howell; a daughter, Irene Buchalter of Clementon; a sister, Matilda Rosenberg of Manalapan; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment was in Kin Solomon Cemetery, Clifton.

KATHARINA "KATIE" BRANDSTADTER, 92, of Marlboro died Mary 17 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, she lived in Piscataway before moving to Marlboro 23 years ago. She was a member of the Friendship Club of Marlboro and the St. Clement’s Senior Citizens Club, Matawan. She was predeceased by her husband, Willi Brandstadter, in 1966. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Henry Schimpf, with whom she lived; and two grandsons.

HENRY FRANCIS CHANDLER, 57, of Freehold Township died May 17 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., he lived in the Howard Beach section of Queens and in Old Bridge before moving to Freehold Township 10 years ago. He was a commodities bro­ker for the New York Mercantile Exchange, New York City. Surviving are a son, Laurence Chandler, at home; a daughter, Jennifer Chandler of Howell; his mother, Mary Ranft of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Jack Chandler of California and Jerry Chandler of Howard Beach; and a sister, Jane Tantillo of Penn­sylvania.

JOHN L. NELSON, 79, of Freehold Township died May 18 at home. He was born in South Amboy and lived there before moving to Freehold Township in 1962. He was a stationary engineer for National Lead Industries, Sayreville, where he was employed for 35 years before retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the East Freehold Fire Company, Freehold Township, an exempt member of the South Amboy Fire Department, a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Freehold, and a member of the 2nd Regiment Middlesex County Militia. He was predeceased by two daughters, Gail and Amy. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Wynkoop Nelson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John L. Nelson Jr. of Howell, Ralph and Bonnie Nelson of Brick, and Martin and Nina Nelson of Freehold; and seven grandchildren.

MARJORIE JANE FAIRCHILD, 82, of Freehold died May 18 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Irvington prior to moving to Freehold 43 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by a son, Arthur S. Fairchild, in 1973. Surviving are her husband, Robert G. Fairchild; four sons, Robert W. Fairchild of Brick, Kevin C. Fairchild of Port Charlotte, Fla., Kerry Fairchild of Jackson, and Brian H. Fairchild of Forked River; a daughter, Valerie Edick of Old Bridge; two brothers, Arthur Boub of Irvington and William Boub of Maggie Valley, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Morris of Freehold and Beverly Rose of Cameron Park, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

BART MASTERS, 83, of Freehold died May 18 at home. Born in New York City, he was raised in Bound Brook and lived in the Bronx, Baldwin, and Long Island, N.Y., and Rahway and Clark before moving to Freehold in 1987. He was a jeweler with I.D. Watch Case Co., Jamaica, Long Island, for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a World War II veteran, serving in both the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy/Coast Guard. He was an Army boxer and a Golden Gloves boxer. He was a former member of the American Legion, Rahway. He was a member of the Calvary Chapel, Old Bridge, and the Surrey Downs Men’s Club, Freehold. He was also a Little League coach. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mildred Brown Masters; three sons, Richard Bart Masters of Anderson, S.C., Wayne Bart Masters of the Morganville section of Marlboro, and David Bart Masters of Hastings, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Chapel of Old Bridge, Building Project, 123 White Oak Lane, Suite 216, Old Bridge 08857.

NORMA OTERO MILLER, 69, of Freehold died May 18 at home. Born in Puerto Rico, she lived in Ridgefield Park for 18 years before moving to Free­hold three years ago. She worked as a medical sec­retary for various physicians for 30 years before retir­ing in 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J., in 1983. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Parris and Trudy Miller of Freehold; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Brian Slain of Carmel, Ind., and Donna and Petr Tolar of Colorado; a sister, Carmen Isaac of New York; a brother, Eric, of Puerto Rico; and six grandchildren. Interment was in Farragut Cemetery, Farragut, Iowa. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, New Jersey Memorial Process­ing Center, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.

LEONARD J. "RED" RONAN JR., 80, of Montgomery, Ala., and formerly of the Freehold area, died May 18. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 with the U.S. 8th Air Force, 493rd Bomb Group, 863rd Squadron. He was a navigator of a B17, flying in 35 combat missions over Europe. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Ronan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard J. Jr. and Maggie Ronan and John P. and Amy Ronan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Emily Ronan and Mike Hussey, Kathleen Ronan and Griswold Daniell, Nancy E. and Keith Woodbury; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery.

BESSIE LETO, 80, of Howell died May 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in Holiday City, Toms River, before moving to Howell three years ago. She was a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, specializing in Harve Bernard clothing. She was a member of the Howell Senior Citizens and a communicant of the Church of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ferdinand Cutolo, in 1966, and her second husband, Joseph Leto, in 1993. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ferdinand "Fred" Jr. and Barbara Cutolo of Freehold Township, and Donald and Rosemary Cutolo of West Trenton; a sister, Betty Maresco of Malvern, Long Is­land, N.Y.; two granddaughters; two stepsons; and one stepgranddaughter. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
