JENNIE E. AQUINO, 84, of Jackson died Jan. 9 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Puerto Rico, she lived in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Jackson in 1994. Mrs. Aquino was a dressmaker in Manhattan, N.Y., and a member of the International Ladies Guild Workers Union. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Mrs. Aquino was predeceased by her husband, Felix, in 1995. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hector and Carmela of Manalapan, Felix of Poway, Calif., and Robert and Gina of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Anthony Marino of Nesconset, N.Y.; a brother, Henry Villanueva of New York City; and six grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

MARY "PEGGY" CASTERLIN, 73, of Freehold Township died Jan. 9 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold Borough, she lived in Port Jervis, N.Y., and Freehold Borough for 40 years before moving to Freehold Township four years ago. She was a glass inspector for Brockway Glass Co., Freehold, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was a 1948 graduate of Port Jervis High School. She is survived by three aunts; several cousins; and many friends. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment in the parish cemetery, Freehold Township.

WILLIAM M. STARR, 41, of Howell, died Jan. 15 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Elizabeth, he resided in Howell for his entire life. Mr. Star was a self- employed carpenter. He is survived by a son, Brian Hill of Brick; his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Norman Maxfield, New Egypt; a sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Scott Ackerman, New Egypt; an aunt, Karen Anochin, Howell; two cousins, two nephews, and a dear friend, Danna. Interment was private.

ANNE McCALL, 90, of Freehold died Jan. 9 at the John L. Montgomery Nursing Home, Freehold. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she lived in Newark and Matawan before moving to Freehold seven years ago. She was an operator for the Schiffenhaus Brothers Paper Box Co., Newark, for 25 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1965. Surviving are two sons, Charles of Clark and Ronald of Lambertville; a daughter, Barbara Branco of Matawan; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.

JEAN SODANO-HOBBS, 92, of Keyport died Jan. 9 at The Willows, Holmdel. Born in Celso Cilento, Italy, she moved to the United States at age 10 months, and resided in Roselle and Toms River before moving to Keyport 17 years ago. She was a sales clerk at Sears Roebuck and Co., Newark, for 25 years, retiring in 1974. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Sodano, in 1995. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Dayback of Hazlet, Christina Fitzgerald of Aberdeen, and Virginia Sisko of Linden; three sons, Walter Hobbs of Freehold, Joseph Hobbs of Louisville, Ky., and Mack Hobbs of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Rose Sodano, and Dora Sodano; her brother, Frank Sodano; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment was at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.

MARGARET "PEG" CAHILL, 88, of Surrey Downs in Howell died Dec. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born and raised in Marlboro, she lived most of her life in Freehold before moving to Howell in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Freehold, a former member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of the Howell Chapter of Deborah Heart and Lung Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis, in 1998; a son, Lester, in 1981; a sister, Irene Hartman, and two brothers, Lester McCue and Harry McCue. She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Hendrickson of Freehold Township and Connie Bell of Hobe Sound, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

DAVID "LARRY" CONOVER, 58, of Jackson, died Jan. 14 at Ocean County Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Point Pleasant and lived in Howell and Wall Township before moving to Jackson in 2002. Mr. Conover was a mechanic for the NJ Department of Transportation, Lakewood, for 10 years before becoming disabled in May. Surviving are his wife, Emily Conover, Wall; three sons, David Conover, Jr., Oceangate; Steven M. Conover, Wall; Michael C. Conover, Wall; a daughter, Sharon P, Conover, Toms River; and two brothers, Jan B. Conover, Toms River and Kevin F. Conover, Farmingdale. Interment was in Atlantic Cemetery, Colts Neck. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

MARY ANN SULTANA, 91, of Howell, died Jan. 15 at home. She was born in Malta and came to the United States in 1938. She lived in Manhattan and Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Howell in 1985. Mrs. Sultana was a registered nurse at Richmond Memorial Hospital, Staten Island, before retiring in 1977. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale. She was also a member of the Howell Township Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, in 1982. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Joseph and Linda Sultana, Howell; Victor and Dorothy Sultana, California; five grandchildren and 11 grandchildren. Interment was at the Cemetery of the Resurrection, Staten Island, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to Meridian Hospice, 615 Hope Road, Building 3, Eatontown.

MARGARET FUENTES, 87, of Freehold Township died Jan. 9 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a resident of Freehold Township for the past 40 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of the Freehold Township Senior Citizens Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1966. Surviving are three sons, Peter of Howell, Manuel of Brick and Raymond of Lakewood; three daughters, Elissa Pisano of Toms River, Theresa Manz of Freehold and Anna Waddy of Brick; a brother, Victor Capitelli of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Interment took place at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

ANN MARIE DeMAIO, 72, of Old Bridge, died Jan. 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, James DeMaio; a son, James Anthony DeMaio of Manalapan; a daughter, Suzanne Marie Hoos of Old Bridge; two brothers, Joseph Machlica of Pompton Beach, Fla., and Steve Machlica of Smithtown, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
