Paula Berkowitz Moskowitz

Mrs. Moskowitz, 62, of Sayreville died Dec. 19 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. She was a bookkeeper at Jacobsen, Goldfarb and Tanzman, Woodbridge, the past five years. Mrs. Moskowitz is survived by her husband of 42 years, Benjamin Moskowitz; a son, David Moskowitz of Morgan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Christopher Hill of Spotswood, and Eve French of Keyport; three brothers, Larry Berkowitz of Fort Myers, Fla., Stuart Karmelin of Dacula, Ga., and Howard Karmelin of Atlanta; two sisters, Rachel Rabinowitz of Queens, N.Y., and Marilyn Smith of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood.

Stanley Sergel

Mr. Sergel, 84, of East Brunswick died Dec. 19 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was retired from Hercules Power Co., Sayreville. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, South River, where he was member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Sergel was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Rossi and Violet Rice. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Golojuch Sergel; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

John McGowan

Mr. McGowan, 78, of Old Bridge died Dec. 11 at home. He was employed by Amtrak in the communications and signals department before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Mr. McGowan served with the U.S.. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Talbot McGowan; four sons, Michael McGowan of Port Orange, Fla., Joseph McGowan of Brick, John McGowan of Orwigsburg, Pa., and Patrick McGowan of Fort Myers, Fla.; two daughters, Dorothy O’Callahan of Toms River and Katherine Cabonilas of Fords; and 13 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Giovanni "John" Lio

Mr. Lio, 53, of Old Bridge died Dec. 15 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, East Orange. He was the owner/operator of Lio’s Lift Truck Service, Old Bridge, the past eight years. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Mr. Lio is survived by six daughters and one son, Jessica Lio, Amanda Mateo, Andrea Lio, Christina Lio, Cassandra Lio, Laura Lio and Giovanni Lio, all Old Bridge; three brothers, Anthony Lio of Fairview, Angelo Lio of Palisades Park, and Benny Lio of Richfield; a sister, Frances Pitingaro of Warwick, N.Y.; and one granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, was in charge of arrangements.

John "Jack" Bogaczyk

Mr. Bogaczyk, 88, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Dec. 16 at Haven Hospice at J.F.K. Medical Center, Edison. He was employed at Hercules Inc., Parlin, for 40 years, retiring 27 years ago. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher. Mr. Bogaczyk was predeceased by his brother, Frank J. Bogaczyk in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Claire Jaskowiak Bogaczyk; two sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Jeanette Bogaczyk of Annapolis, Md., and James and Mary Ann Bogaczyk of Manahawkin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Anton Juknierski of Monroe Township, and Mary Paulette and Richard Braisted of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Bogaczyk of East Brunswick; two sisters, Mary Scibek of Sayreville and Agnes Remer of Matawan; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Church, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Arrangements were by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Memorial donations may be made to the Sayreville Emergency Squad, Washington Road, Parlin 08859.

John Ploskon

Mr. Ploskon, 89, of South River died Dec. 16 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Before his retirement, he was a heavy construction laborer with Local No. 472 Labors Union, where he was a member for 60 years. He was predeceased by four brothers, Victor, Stanley, Bernard and Edward Ploskon; and a sister, Rose Burak. Mr. Ploskon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Lengyel Ploskon; a daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Michael Holinko of Spotswood; a son, John V. Ploskon of Old Bridge; a sister, Anna Wojcik of South River; a brother, Henry Ploskon of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. The Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Popis Travis

Mrs. Travis, 72, of Old Bridge died Dec. 16 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was employed at Bristol-Myers Squibb for 25 yeas, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Englishtown. Mrs. Travis is survived by her husband, John Travis; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ginny Travis of Marlboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Alan Porzio of Manchester, Donna and Bill Jacobs of Beachwood, and Kathy and Kevin Respass of Old Bridge; a brother, John Popis of Scranton, Pa.; a sister, Anthonette Porter of Duluth, Minn.; and seven grandchildren. Entombment was at Forest Green Memorial Park, Morganville. The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 19 Main St., Englishtown 07726.

Stella Pilch Blaszka

Mrs. Blaszka, 87, of Sayreville died Dec. 17 at home. She was a seamstress at Louis Brodsky and Sons, South River, before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Blaszka, in 1987; two brothers, Stanley J. Pilch and Steve Pilch; and a sister, Mary Mickiewicz. Mrs. Blaszka is survived by two sons, Edward Blaszka of Sayreville and Frederick M. Blaszka of Union; a daughter, Elizabeth Zezenski of Old Bridge; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, was in charge of arrangements.

Angela Pasek Radzawich

Mrs. Radzawich, 80, of East Brunswick died Dec. 17 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Plymouth, Pa., she resided in Edison prior to moving to East Brunswick three years ago. She was a school van driver for Edison Township Board of Education, retiring in 1988. She was a communi­cant of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Louis Radzawich of East Brunswick; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Lawrence Arnese of East Brunswick, Mary Lou and John Ellis of Knoxville, Tenn., and Cheryl and Anthony Krahl of North Brunswick; her brother, John Pasek of Whiting; her sister, Victoria Kenger of Englishtown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Entombment was at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Memorial do­nations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 246 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst 07755.

Louise "Ronnie" Leeds Cannizzo

Mrs. Cannizzo, 62, of Spotswood died Dec. 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Cannizzo is survived by a son, Richard Cannizzo III of Old Bridge; two daughters, Donna Cannizzo of Spotswood and Jodi Ventre of Old Bridge; a sister, Sally Ann Slutsky of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Marlboro Cemetery. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
