Nellie Gertrude Wenzel

Mrs. Wenzel, 90, of Doylestown, Pa., died Nov. 21 at Pine Run Health Center, Doylestown. She was born in the Morganville section of Marlboro, where she was a longtime resident. Mrs. Wenzel was a teacher at Matawan Elementary School and Ravine Drive School, Matawan, as well as several one-room schoolhouses. She was a lifetime member of the Morganville Methodist Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Liberty Grange of Marlboro. Mrs. Wenzel was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Wenzel, in 1999; four sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Winfried Kraus of Horsham, Pa.; a sister, Gladys MacNish; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport. The Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan, was in charge of arrangements.

Helen A. Japowicz

Mrs. Japowicz, 91, of Middletown died Nov. 26 at home. Born in New Hampton, Conn., she resided in Paramus prior to moving to Middletown 10 years ago. She was a nurse at Harwich Nursing Home, Paramus, for 35 years, retiring 25 years ago. Mrs. Japowicz was predeceased by her husband, Leon Japowicz. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Eva Japowicz of Cape Cod, Mass.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sabina and Edward Weglarz of Middletown, Kristin and Thomas Stenson of Amelia Island, Fla., and Joan and Vincent Melluse of Surprise, Ariz.; two sisters, Carmilla Krawiec and Mary Jacobus, both St. Simons Island, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of New Jersey, 77 Route 37 west, Toms River 08755.

Sarah O’Kane Lenaghan

Mrs. Lenaghan, 95, of Hazlet died Dec. 13 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Scotland, she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to Hazlet 28 years ago. Mrs. Lenaghan was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Senior Citizens Club, Holmdel. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Lenaghan, in 1971. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia McCann of Bushkill, Pa.; a son, James Lenaghan of Hazlet; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Neil H. "Woody" Woodward

Mr. Woodward, 79, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Spring Hill, Fla., died Nov. 9 at home. He resided in Portsmouth, R.I., prior to moving to Lincroft. He was a lieu­tenant with the U.S. Navy at Earle Naval Weapons Station, Colts Neck, for 30 years, re­tiring in 1972. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veter­ans of Foreign Wars; 32nd degree Mason Scot­tish Rite, Blue Lodge, Kodiak, Alaska; the New Jersey Chapter of Retired Officers, Fort Monmouth; and the Military Officer Associa­tion of America. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Iride Edith M. Woodward; his son, Neil H. Woodward II of Charleston, S.C.; and his sister, Dorothy Bliven of Warren, Ore. Ar­rangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Interment will be Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Vir­ginia. Memorial donations may be made to ALS Association, Robert Wood Johnson Medi­cal Center, 97 Paterson St., New Brunswick 08903.

Earl Watkin Korf

Mr. Korf, 99, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died Nov. 23 at home. Born in Oklahoma, he resided in California and in Long Branch for two years before moving to Lincroft in 1961. He was a supervisor of navigators at Trans World Airlines, where he was employed for 40 years before his retirement. Prior to that, he was a telegrapher at Western Union in California, and sailed the Pacific Ocean as a wireless operator. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, flying transport planes over the Atlantic Ocean. His passengers included President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Madame Chiang Kai-shek. Mr. Korf was a member and former deacon at the Lincroft Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and was an avid ham radio operator with memberships in several local and national ham radio associations. He was also a former Boy Scout assistant Scout Master and troop representative, and Little League coach and manager in Lincroft. He was predeceased by a brother, Roy William Korf, and a sister, Nellie Mae Korf. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Michel Nacouz Korf; two sons, Gregory D. Korf of Lincroft and Richard E. Korf of Los Angeles; a sister, Mildred Steele of Fair Oaks, Calif.; one step-grandson; and one nephew. A memorial service was held at Lincroft Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

John J. Fagliarone

Mr. Fagliarone, 93, of Middletown, died Nov. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Italy, he moved to the United States in 1912 and resided in North Bergen before moving to Middletown 20 years ago. He was a printing pressman at Local No. 51, New York City, where he was employed 50 years before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was past president of the Cliffside Park chapter of AARP and a member of the Middletown AARP. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanna Passarella Fagliarone; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph C. and Mary Joan Fagliarone of Middletown, Carmine J. and Antoinette Fagliarone of Lakewood, and John R. Fagliarone of San Diego; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane S. and Joseph Stocklinski of Cranford; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church, followed by entombment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Steven Paul Orban

Mr. Orban, 46, of Hazlet died Dec. 1 in Trenton. Born in Audubon, he resided there most of his life before moving to Hazlet. He was the owner of Hiawatha Liquors, Hazlet, before retiring in 1995. He was predeceased by his father, Robert C. Orban Sr., in 1999. He is survived by his mother, Christina Williams Orban, and a brother, Robert C. Orban Jr., both of Hazlet. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Frank A. Wentworth

Mr. Wentworth, 78, of Keyport, died Nov. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen prior to moving to Keyport. He was employed in chemical operations at GAF Corp., Linden, for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 23, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4247, and the Knights of Columbus, all Keyport. He was predeceased by his wife, Constance Wentworth, in 2002; a daughter, Barbara Ruppe; a son, Richard Wentworth; and a brother, Phritz Wentworth. He is survived by three sons, Ronald Wentworth Sr. of Toms River, Randolph Wentworth of Hawaii, and Robert Wentworth of Connecticut; two daughters, Frances Henning of Tennessee and Stacey Kirk of Jackson; a brother, Paul Wentworth of Plainfield; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Burial will take place at Forest Green Memorial Park, Marlboro (date to be announced). Day Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

Grace A. Boyd

Mrs. Boyd, 79, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Nov. 26 at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, West Palm Beach. Born in Neptune, she resided in Middletown before moving to West Palm Beach seven years ago. She was a legal secretary at Wolf Helies & Duggan, Red Bank, for 13 years, retiring in 1991. She was predeceased by her first husband, John A. Murray, in 1966, and her second husband, Thomas Boyd, in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Ann Murray of Atlantic Highlands; a son, John A. Murray of Middletown; a brother, Kenneth Gardner of Lakehurst; a sister, Madeline Slocum of Belmar; 13 grandchildren; and several stepsons and stepdaughters. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association of Central New Jersey, 206 Westfield Ave., Clark 07066; or Deborah Hospital Foundation, N.J. Region, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills 08015-0820.
