John Edward Benbow

Mr. Benbow, 73, died Nov. 6 at Laurel Bay Nursing Home, Keansburg. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown for 35 years. He was employed at the New York Transit Authority for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. He was a member of the Disabled War Veterans and the American Legion. Mr. Benbow is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dolores McQuade Benbow; three sons and two daughters-in-law, George L. and Bonnie Benbow of the Lincroft section of Middletown, Scott J. Benbow of Port Monmouth, and Lee J. and Jackie Benbow of Middletown; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Donations may be made to Meridian Hospice, 615 Hope Road, Bldg. 4, 2nd Floor, Eatontown 07724.

Eileen Patricia Whitty Pape

Mrs. Pape, 78, of Freehold died Oct. 29 at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and lived in Matawan before moving to Freehold one year ago. Mrs. Pape was predeceased by her husband, Ken­neth Pape Jr. in 1992; and two sisters, Loretto Laverde and Helen Whitty. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Pape III and his wife, Caryn, and David Pape and his wife, Nancy, all of Millstone; three daughters, Debra Pape Hartmann, and her husband, James, Mer­cerville; Barbara Pape Aaron, and her husband, Andy, Ardsley, N.Y.; and Diane Pape, Freehold; six sisters, Mary Whitty, Joan Hemsworth, Dolores Connolly, Jean Ka­vanaugh, Anne Brandefine and Kathleen Polomene; and nine grandchildren. Arrange­ments were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. The funeral liturgy was of­fered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Free­hold Township, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Memorial dona­tions may be made to the Vitas Hospice Chari­table Foundation, 100 South Biscayne Blvd., Suite 1500, Miami, FL 33131.

Frances Presti

Frances Presti, 36, of Neptune died Oct. 29 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Hazlet, she resided there prior to moving to Neptune two years ago. She held a master’s degree. She was a member the Bayshore Women’s Softball League for many years. She was predeceased by her father, Francis Presti, in 1990. She is survived by her mother, Dora Onofrio Presti of Hazlet; her partner, Jenn Martino of Neptune; a sister, Donna Cottrell of Brick; two brothers, Paul Presti of Union Beach and John Presti of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to Howard Stern Relief Fund, FDR Station, P.O. Box 869, New York, NY 10150.

Frances L. Adario DeNardo

Mrs. DeNardo, 90, of Matawan died Oct. 25 at Victoria House Health Care Center, Matawan. Born in Portland, Maine, she resided in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen before moving to Matawan six years ago. Mrs. DeNardo was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael DeNardo, in 1997; a sister, Sabby Tyska, this year; and a brother, Domenick Adario, in 1993. She is survived by a son, Fred DeNardo of Matawan; a daughter, Connie DeNardo Guarnieri of Matawan; three sisters, Mary Wallace and Yola Caraccilo, both of Cliffwood, and Anna Zduniak of the Wickatunk section of Marlboro; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Oct. 30 at 9:15 at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

Dale M. Pittius Benedett

Mrs. Benedett, 53, of Bayville died Oct. 30 at Bayshore Health Center, Holmdel. Born in South Amboy, she resided in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen prior to moving to Bayville three years ago. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4247, Keyport. Mrs. Benedett was predeceased by her parents, William and Jean Ward Pittius; her son, Michael Reed, in 1972; and her daughter, Michele Benedett, in 1984. She is survived by her husband, John Benedett of Bayville; two sisters, Marlena Henriksen of Morganville, and Marsha Danino of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Interment will be Nov. 5 at Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, New Castle, Del.

Anna C. Kehoe Cherney

Mrs. Cherney, 84, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Oct. 12 at home. Surviving are her husband, Rudolph T. Cherney; five sons, Rudolph of Hazlet, Thomas A. and Michael J., both of the Toms River section of Dover, Frank P. of Warner Robins, Ga., and Robert J. of Sayreville; two daughters, Anna M. Brienza of Millstone and Theresa Brown of West Bridgewater, Mass.; a sister, Dolores Leonard of Tannersville, N.Y.; 23 grand­children; 20 great-grandchildren; and sev­eral nieces and nephews. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Interment was in Cloverleaf Park Cemetery, Woodbridge.

Gerald Francis Wyndorf

Mr. Wyndorf, 84, of Red Bank died Oct. 13 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was born in Atlantic Highlands and had been a resident of Red Bank for the past 54 years. Mr. Wyndorf was employed at Rassas Brothers Pontiac, Shrewsbury; Dorn’s Camera Shop, Red Bank; and Camera Showplace, Hazlet, prior to his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a volunteer for several years at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and playing golf. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ottman Wyndorf, in 1985. He is survived by three sons, Gerald W. Wyndorf of Hong Kong and Rowayton, Conn., and David A. Wyndorf and Peter D. Wyndorf, both of Red Bank; five daughters, Susan Anne Wolf of Essex, Conn., Jan E. Lipert of Red Bank, Robin A. Madell of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, Carrie E. Wyndorf of Red Bank, and Elizabeth Janson of North Andover, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Santiago J. Santiago

Mr. Santiago, 85, of Eatontown died Oct. 14 at the Center for Hospice Care, Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following com­plications after surgery. He was born in San Sebatian, Puerto Rico, he resided in Brooklyn and Queens, N.Y., and Middletown prior to moving to Eatontown in July. He was a sheet metal fabricator at several companies, retiring in 1983. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed time with his family, and walking. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Irma Santiago of Eatontown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ilda and Jim Schneider of Queens, N.Y., Susan and Chris Conlon of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Monica and Jack Kurkemelis of Middletown; and three grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Ceme­tery. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Meade Robertson

Mr. Robertson, 48, of Green Island, Toms River, died Oct. 13 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Long Branch, he grew up in Highlands where he attended Henry Hudson Regional High School. Mr. Robertson was a chef at the Brielle Inn for 10 years, and was a landscaper/heavy equipment operator for LuMar Landscape Contractors/Calgo Garden, Toms River, for the past 20 years. A former resident of Brick, he was a member of the Green Island (Toms River) Community Association and participated in Toms River East Little League. Mr. Robertson enjoyed gardening and music, especially the Blues, and played the guitar. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Robertson; his son, Conner; his mother, Edith Robertson of Highlands; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sylvia and William Schloeder of Atlantic Highlands, Susan and Herb Brooks of Jamestown, N.Y., Sheri and Richard Briggs of Sugar Grove, Pa., Nedra Warren of Boston, and Myra Robertson of Highlands; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Rob and Makie Robertson, and Roger and Richard Robertson, all of Highlands; as well as many nieces and nephews. The Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, was in charge of arrangements.
