Donald "DuBo" DuBrosky

Mr. DuBrosky, 59, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Oct. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Port Monmouth. Mr. DuBrosky was a collection agency supervisor at Middletown Township Sewerage Authority for 31 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Port Monmouth Fire Company and First Aid Squad, and past member of the Middletown Elks. He was a player and manager of the World Champion and National Champion Stafford Tire Softball Team, coached girls high school softball, and was a line official for high school football. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Irene Dowens DuBrosky; and a brother, Larry DuBrosky. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Barrett DuBrosky of Port Monmouth; a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Wenona DuBrosky of the Leonardo section of Middletown; a daughter, Kristi DuBrosky of Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Wayne Pearson of the Belford section of Middletown; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doris and Walter Barrett of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A funeral gathering will take place Oct. 22 at 9:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

Mary A. Del Vento Herring

Mrs. Herring, 76, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Oct. 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Orange, she resided in Hazlet before moving to Port Monmouth 10 years ago. Mrs. Herring was a cashier at Sears Roebuck, Middletown, for two years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, she was the first female compounder at Lanvin Charles of the Ritz, Holmdel, where she worked for 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was a member of and past secretary at the Wednesday Night Mixed Bowling League, Hazlet. She was predeceased by a daughter, Becky Herring Beck, in 1982. She is survived by four daughters, Arleen Herring of Cambridge, England, Susan Dzugan of the Lincroft section of Middletown, Kathy Harvey of Toms River, and Marianne Herring of Meldola, Italy; a son, Wayne Herring of Middletown; a brother, Alex Del Vento of West Orange; and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be Oct. 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be held Oct. 23 at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Josephine Favilla Menello

Mrs. Menello, 93, of Ovieda, Fla., died Oct. 19 at Health Central Park Nursing Home, Winter Garden, Fla. Born in New York City, she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Ovieda. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Menello, in 1994; her brother, Hercules Favilla; and four sisters, Cleo Favilla, Clementine Hansen, Clara Cagnetta and Victoria Favilla. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Carol Menello of Ovieda, and Ronald and Linda Menello of Hazlet; a sister, Mary Dalene of Henderson, Nev.; six grand­children; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Oct. 23 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Oct. 24 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment will be at Holmdel Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, 07834-1365.

Timothy Patrick Sterling

Mr. Sterling, 57, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, died Oct. 18 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of West Keansburg. Mr. Sterling was a dock builder at union Local No. 1456, New York City, where he was employed 35 years before retiring. He enjoyed time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michele DeVirgilio Sterling; a daughter, Dena Sterling of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; a son, Ryan Sterling of West Keansburg; two brothers, Rex A. Sterling of Florida and William H. Sterling of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral gathering will take place Oct. 22 at 8:15 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:15 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Entombment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Joseph John Cook

Mr. Cook, 49, of Middletown died Oct. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Newark, he grew up in Belleville and relocated to Middle­town 21 years ago. He was a software analyst at IBM, Piscataway. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He enjoyed time with his family, softball, travel, and rooting for the Mets. He was prede­ceased by his mother, Mabel Bottarini Cook, in 1967; and his father, William J. Cook, in 1978. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Callahan Cook; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Brook Cook of Cinnaminson; two daugh­ters, Kristin and Katie Cook, both at home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William P. and Gail Cook, and George P. and Beth Cook, all of Somerset; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation will be Oct. 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will be offered Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment will be at Fair View Ceme­tery, Middletown.

Julie L. Caster

Miss Caster, 27, of Freeport, N.Y., died Oct. 13 in Pennsylvania. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she resided in Pittsburgh and Detroit prior to moving to Freeport three years ago. She was a teacher at Phillippe Schuyler Middle School, Brooklyn, N.Y., since September. She was a communicant of First Presbyterian Church, Freeport, N.Y., where she also served as a youth director. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps. She is survived by her parents, the Rev. John and Lynda Book Caster of Matawan; her brother, Donald Caster of Huntington, W.Va.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A fu­neral service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Matawan. Interment was at Shore­land Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Arrange­ments were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 178 S. Ocean Ave., Freeport, NY 11520.

Ebbing Tide "Tony" Waters

Mr. Waters, 83, of Fair Haven died Sept. 30 at Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown. He was born in Bluefield, W.Va. He was a retired electronics engineer at Fort Monmouth, where he was employed for 30 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the first graduating class at the Merchant Marine Academy, Glen Cove, N.Y., in 1942. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Communion, Fair Haven, where he served as a senior warden and vestry member for several years. He was involved with Fair Haven Little League, and under his leadership the League was restructured and expanded. He enjoyed golf, bridge, billiards and croquet. Mr. Waters was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, Thelma C. Sendal, in 1973; six brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bernadette Dalton-Waters of Red Bank; two sisters, Alice of Crosslanes, W.Va., and Mary of Bluefield, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at the Church of the Holy Communion, Fair Haven. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Hazel Meggison Gallagher

Mrs. Gallagher, 101, of Hazlet died Oct. 10 at Regency Park Nursing Center, Hazlet. Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, she resided in South Amboy and Sayreville before moving to Hazlet eight years ago. Mrs. Gallagher was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, South Amboy. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Gallagher, in 1976. She is survived by five nieces, including Margaret Madger and Dorothy Ward, of Spotswood, Norene Cahill of Old Bridge, and Anne Jankowski of South Amboy; two nephews, including Albert Meggison of Keyport; and several grand-nieces and -nephews. A funeral service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church, South Amboy. Interment was at Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by The Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.
