DOLORES J. BARTON, 70, of Fair Haven died Sept. 20 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Northfield, Vt., she lived there, in the Panama Canal zone and in Germany prior to moving to Fair Haven 31 years ago. She worked for CECOM, Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, she worked for the Social Security Administration, Perth Amboy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Northfield. Her affiliations included the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Wives’ Club and the Retired Officers Auxiliary, and she was a 19-year member of the Monmouth Civic Chorus. She is survived by her husband, retired Lt. Col. William E. Barton, Fair Haven; two sons, William E. Barton Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Robert H. Barton of Adelphia; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Red Bank Methodist Church. Interment was at Brig. Gen. W.C. Doyle Veterans. Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. JOHN J. McGAVIN, 60, of Middletown died Sept. 20 at home. Born in Hoboken, he moved to Middletown in 1964. He was a computer technology teacher for Thompson Middle School, Middletown, for 23 years. Prior to that, he taught and was a basketball coach at Bayshore Middle School, Middletown, for 12 years. He was a member of the New Jersey and National Education Associations. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick McGavin, in 1964. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Carol Henry McGavin of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Tracy McGavin of Highlands, and Scott and Teddy McGavin of Keyport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kelly and Scott Klemroth of San Diego, Calif., and Megan Becker of Fort Monroe, Va.; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Betty McGavin of Denville; his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Richard Vensel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and his former wife, Sandra Connor McGavin of Rumson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 1540 W. Park Ave., Tinton Falls 07724.

KIAT HUAT YEO, 50, of Red Bank died Sept. 21 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Malaysia and relocated to the United States to pursue medical studies. He was a pulmonologist at the Medical Health Center, Middletown, since 1995. He was also on staff at Riverview Medical Center; Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune; Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch; and Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was a member of both the American Medical Association and the American College of Chest Physicians. He was predeceased by his parents, Poh Tiang Yeo and Tuan Ching Lim. He is survived by his wife, Mei Zhang of Red Bank; his sister; and his niece. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, September 11th Fund, c/o P.O. Box 4148, Middletown 07747.

GREGG REIDY, 25, of Holmdel who has been missing since the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, New York City, was honored at a memorial service Sept. 30 at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Reidy was born in Red Bank and lived in Middletown before moving to Holmdel in 1998. He was employed by Cantor Fitzgerald, Floor 101, World Trade Center, New York City. Prior to that, he worked with Henderson Brothers, Dermott Clancy Inc. and James A. Conlin, LLC. He graduated from Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth section of Middletown, and Manhattanville College, Purchase, N.Y. He was a practical joker, as well as a team player and dedicated businessman. He was predeceased by his older brother, Thomas Reidy in 1984. He is remembered by his parents, Mary and Thomas Reidy of Holmdel; two sisters and brothers-in-law and their children, Maureen, Matthew, Tara and Erin Yetman, all of Middletown; and Ann, James and Jay Curti, all of Middletown. MARGARET M. O’CONNOR PETERSEN, 81, of Rumson died Aug. 26 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Wilton, Conn., before moving to Rumson 22 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her son, Timothy Edward Petersen in 2000. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas G. Petersen of Rumson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. and Kathleen Petersen Jr. of Greenwich, Conn., and Robert L. and Arlene D. Petersen of Westport, Conn.; her brother, Thomas O’Connor of Strafford, Conn.; her sister, Elizabeth Milton of Cheshire, Conn.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral Mass was at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902-4301.

ROBERT L. LEHMAN, 78, of Little Silver died Aug. 29 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in the Fords section of Woodbridge, he resided in Little Silver for 45 years and recently moved to Manchester. He was the retired head of the Patent Department for N.L. Industries, New York City, for 35 years. Following retirement, he was vice president of Okura & Co., New York City, for five years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a founding member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fords. His associations included member and past president of the Little Silver Board of Education, and past president of the trustees of the Little Silver Public Library Association. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth C. Anderson Lehman of Manchester; his daughter and son-in-law, Lois R. and Gene Striffler of Long Valley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris R. Lehman of State College, Pa., and Peter A. and Maureen M. Lehman of Oceanport; and his sister, Gloria Kerr Aprill of Edison. JENNIE SCHNEIDER, 91, of Red Bank died Sept. 1 at Navesink House, Red Bank. Born in Poland, she lived in Middletown and Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Red Bank seven years ago. She was a retired cashier for Horn and Hardart, New York City, for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Schneider. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Albert J. and Donna Schneider of Juno Beach, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Laura Schneider; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. "PEGGY" BOYD RIVEST, 42, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown died Sept. 10 at home. Born in Red Bank, she lived in Keansburg prior to moving to Port Monmouth 10 years ago. She was a real estate agent. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence Rivest and Dorothy Foster. She is survived by her daughter and son, Janine and Keith Boyd of Port Monmouth; her companion, Rick Hein of Port Monmouth; and three sisters, Patricia Grable of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, Ellen Rivest of Keansburg, and Dorie Strongoli of West Keansburg. A funeral liturgy as offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg.

JOAN KATHLEEN ROONEY, 68, of Freehold died Sept. 10 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville, Md. Born in Englishtown, she had been a lifelong resident of Freehold. She was a teacher in the Manalapan-Englishtown School District from 1954-56; at the Shrewsbury Borough School from 1956-70; and was a teacher-director of the Harbor School, Red Bank, from 1970-74. She was principal of the Rugby School, Wall. She was a graduate of Freehold High School, class of 1950. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 737 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was predeceased by a brother, the Rev. Robert J. Rooney, in 1994. She is survived by a sister, Mary Patricia Rooney Estes of Kiawah Island, S.C.; five nieces; three grandnephews; and three grandnieces. T

PATRICK ALOYSIUS HOEY, 53, of Middletown died Sept. 11 in the tragedy at the World Trade Center, New York City. Born in Englewood, he resided in Middletown for the past 24 years. He was an executive manager of tunnels, bridges and terminals for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New York City, for 31 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was Knight of the Year 1984-85, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Vincent T. Lombardi Council, Leonardo section of Middletown. He was also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers; and past president of the Mater Dei High School PTA, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He received his degree in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He was predeceased by his father, John V. Hoey Jr., in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Eileen Keys Hoey of Middletown; his mother, Lucille Hoey of Ramsey; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian P. Hoey of Elkridge, Md., Robert and Rebecca E. Hoey of Ashburn, Va., and Michael T. Hoey of Hoboken; a daughter, Sharon M. Hoey of Middletown; two brothers, John V. Hoey III of Sea Bright, and Timothy Hoey of Melrose, Mass.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Timothy Higgins and Eileen and James Byrne, all of Ramsey, and Theresa and Stephen Komlo of Leesburg, Va.; and several nieces; nephews; and caring friends. A funeral gathering will be Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Rainbow Foundation, P.O. Box 545, New Monmouth 07748.
