Margaret Smith, 87
Margaret Smith, 87 of Griggstown died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in The Manor Nursing Home, Freehold. Born in Somerville, she spent all of her married life in Griggstown. She was a Deacon and Elder at the Griggstown Reformed Church and also taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Smith was honored in 2003 with the New Brunswick Theological Seminary for serving on the Women's Auxiliary. She retired with many years of service as a dental assistant with Dr. William Lawton of Somerville. Wife of the late Melville Smith, she is survived by three sisters Grace Terhune of Blawenburg, Virginia Allen of Freehold, and Barbara Roe of Neptune. She is also survived by four nieces and a nephew, Nancy Landuyt, Margaret Querec, Lois Roe, Thomas Roe, and Carol Hope, and many great nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 11:00 am Monday March 17, 2014 at Griggstown Reformed Church, 1065 Canal Rd. Griggstown. Burial will be in Griggstown cemetery Calling hours will be Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Griggstown Reformed Church. Dr. Vachas Pati, 89
Dr. Vachas Pati, who resided at 32 Revere Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2014 in Toronto, Canada. He was 89 years old and is survived by his three children, Vatsala Karwe, Tanmay Vachaspati and Anshula Ohri. He was the esteemed father-in-law of Mukund Karwe and Punam Ohri-Vachaspati. He was the adored grandfather of his six grandchildren, Ananya and Aditi Ohri, Pranjal and Krithi Vachaspati, and Abhinav and Pravek Karwe. He was the cherished husband of his wife of 45 years, Indu Prabha, whom he lost in 1992. He was the darling son of the late Vidyavati and Prithi Singh and loving brother of the late Dr. Rajendra Singh. He was a deeply respected Professor and a mentor and guide to numerous students at Roorkee, Lucknow and Allahabad Universities. A service in his memory and honor, and to remember his compassion and love for all whose life he touched, will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 32 Revere Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ, from 9:30am

John Swan Weatherley, 62
In Memory of John Swan Weatherley April 15, 1951 - March 5, 2014 John Swan Weatherley, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in New Canaan, Connecticut, on March 5, 2014. Formerly a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut for 23 years, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Born in 1951 in Greenwich, Connecticut, John is survived by his wife, Susan Weatherley. He leaves his children James Simpson, Jebb Atkinson, Zoe Smith and Noel Miller along with five grandchildren and three sisters. His parents, now deceased, were Jack and Ruth Weatherley of Bridgewater, Connecticut. John graduated Dartmouth Collegewhere he received a B.A. Magna Cum Laude with Distinction in Anthropology. A life-long learner, John continued his studies at Princeton University where he attended graduate school and earned a M.S. in Anthropology. John was a Fulbright Scholar and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity. His interests included the study of cultures, which led him to France where he attended the Universite Paris Sorbonne and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes. From 1978 to 1989, he was owner of Weatherley Building Company in Princeton, New Jersey. John went on to serve as Managing Owner of Berwick Land Corporation of New York from 1989 to 2006. For more than 40 years, John served as an active member of The Gurdjieff Foundation of New York. Aside from his service to others, friends will remember John's generosity and his spirit for life, and his love of nature and the arts. As a couple, John and Susan enjoyed traveling and spent much of their time in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Rockport, Maine. Edward Gerard Dolton Jr, 88
Edward Gerard Dolton Jr, 88 passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Southern Ocean County Nuring and Rehailitation Center in Manahawkin, with his family by his side. Born in Trenton, he had attended the Blessed Sacrament School, the Trenton Public School system and graduated from Trenton Central High School. Edward served in the US Navy Air Corp during WWII in the Pilot Training Program. He received a BS degree from LaSalle University, an MS in Bacteriology from Rutgers University and a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia. He owned and operated Dolton's Pharmacy in Bordentown, NJ for 40 years and also owned and operated Dolton Enterprise Constriction Company for several years. Edward was a past president and member of:

Roselyne deViry Frelinghuysen, 93
Roselyne deViry 93, died February 27, 2014 in Princeton, N.J. Roselyne was born on May 20, 1920 in Thonon-les-bains France. She was the daughter of Baron Joseph Humbert deViry, and granddaughter of Count Maximillien de Foras. Because her grandmother, the Countess de Foras was American, she spent much of her youth in New York and Lenox, Massachusetts, at the homes of her grandmother's American sister, Emily Spencer. She attended the Spence School in New York City and completed her education at convent school in France. She lived with her great Aunt Emily at Shipton Court in Lenox, now the Seven Hills Inn. In the early years of WWII, with men drafted, she pitched in to maintain the house, tending the animals and helping maintain wood fires because of the scarcity of fuel. Roselyne volunteered for the Free French forces under US Army command as an ambulance driver and translator. Chanel had designed their uniforms. She traveled by ship troop carrier to Africa and moved on to Italy participating in the Anzio landing and the liberation of Rome. She was then deployed in France. She drove on mined roads and once at a fork in the road was unsure of her directions. She prayed to St. Christopher to guide her and drove on. The jeep after hers took the other fork and exploded. After her demobilization, Roslyne returned to New York City and worked in an art gallery, where she met her husband Thomas T.K. Frelinghuysen, a sculptor. They lived on his farm in Holmdel, New Jersey and raised three children

Mary Ann Jensen
The Rev. Mary Ann Jensen, deacon in the Diocese of New Jersey, died Tuesday, March 4, in the Princeton Care Center, after an extended illness. Mary Ann was born on November 24, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Danish immigrants, Anna Marie and Marinus C. Jensen. At a very young age, she felt called to a life in the theatre and to a life in prayer. When just a little girl, she wrote plays, which she and her friends performed in a theatre constructed by her father, while her mother taught her to pray while she was still sleeping in a crib. Mary Ann earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in theatre from Milwaukee-Downer College (Lawrence University) in 1958 and did graduate work in theatre at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked in professional theatre from 1958-1960 and was assistant director of the Wisconsin Center for Theatre Research from 1963-1966. From 1966 until her retirement in 2000, she was curator of the William Seymour Theatre Collection in the Princeton University Library. She served on the editorial board of the Princeton University Library Chronicle. She was the author of numerous publications on the subject of theatre history, including "From Strolling Players to Steven Spielberg:
100 Years of a Theatrical Family, " and was president of the Theatre Library Association. She maintained her interest in professional theatre and, in December 1978, produced and directed Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot in the theatre of Princeton University's Wilson College. She was co-curator of the 1995 exhibition in Princeton's Firestone Library titled "Oscar Wilde:
A Writer for the Nineties, " which celebrated the centenary of two Wilde plays, 'The Importance of Being Earnest and An Ideal Husband. Mary Ann was accepted into the formation program for the diaconate in the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey in 1977 and was ordained in 2001. As deacon, she worked with those suffering from addiction, facilitated a bereavement group, worked in food pantries and soup kitchens, assisted in a crisis ministry, and served as a hospital chaplain. She served as associate archivist of the diocese and as a member of the Diocesan Committee for Episcopal Recovery Ministries. She served as deacon at All Saints' Church Princeton from 2004 until her death. At All Saints', she offered pastoral care to parishioners, served as a liturgical associate for services, was a member of the Outreach Committee, the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration Committee, the Liturgy and Music Committee, and represented the church as a board member of Princeton Community Housing. She served as the church archivist, was responsible for Lay Eucharistic Ministries, and was a home and hospital visitor. Mary Ann's special interests were liturgics, the ballet, music, church history, and nineteenth-century theatre history. She was a discerner in the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross, a group of approximately 700 women, members of the Anglican Communion, called to liveindividual lives under a rule of intercessory prayer, thanksgiving, and simplicity of life. Companions pray and act with intentional concern for three themes:
the unity of all God's people, God's mission in the world, and social justice. She was to have been admitted as a Companion on Saturday, March 8. Mary Ann is survived by her church family, her many friends and colleagues, and the Companions of the Holy Cross. Funeral services will take place at All Saints' Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13. Interment will take place in the Trinity-All Saints' Cemetery, and a reception in the church will follow. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church, 16 All Saints' Rd., Princeton NJ 08540, or to the charity of your choice. Frank J. Cox, 76
Frank J. Cox, 76, of Lawrenceville passed away peacefully at home with his family on March 6. Born in Trenton, he was raised in Princeton before moving to Lawrenceville in 1988. Frank was a member of St. Paul's Church, where he proudly served as an altar server for many years. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, 1955, and the FBI National Academy, 109th class in 1977. Beginning his law enforcement career in 1962 with Princeton Twp Police Department, Frank was tapped to be the first officer in the newly formed West Windsor Police Department in 1968, often patrolling in his own car (a Cadillac). Serving as Lieutenant, and later appointed as Chief in 1980, he retired in 2001 with nearly 40 years of law enforcement service. In 2008, the West Windsor Police Building was named the "Frank Cox Police Facility" in recognition of his leadership in the community. He was Past-President of the NJ FBI National Academy Associates, and Past President of the Mercer County Chiefs of Police. Son of the late Joseph and Miriam (Fisher) Cox, brother of the late Joseph Cox and Kathleen Hunt, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine (Rapking) Cox ("the best thing that ever happened to me"), a daughter and son-in-law Lisa A. and Joseph Gorski, granddaughter Kathryn Gorski

John Robert Tonkin
John Robert Tonkin passed away unexpectedly Monday, February24th surrounded by his family and friends after suffering a heart attack. He was 56. John was the son of Leroy and Carolyn L. Tonkin. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Lisa Ann Tonkin and her two children Jamie (Tony) Cain and Michael (Nicole) Barker

John Van Zelm Trubee
John Van Zelm Trubee 1932 - Feb 24 2014. Born in New Rochelle, attended Lawrenceville School and graduated Princeton class of 1954 majoring in Geology. Served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army until 1957, worked for Standard Oil, brokered stocks on Wall Street, as a Trust Officer at Princeton Bank and Loan, and owned Lawrenceville Associates in Princeton. He was an avid fan and supporter of Princeton Basketball. John maintained a residence in Princeton until the last five years when he moved out to Seattle to be with family. He is survived by his sons, John, Jay, Brian, Brooks and Evan. Daughters-in-law June, Amy and Kristin, and grandchildren Jillian, Mackenzie, Robert, Phil, Patrick, Holly and Cameron. TRUBEE

Ruth Meyrowitz Shaw
Ruth Shaw passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3rd. Ruth was born November 17, 1923 in Englewood, NJ. She was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, where she was a drum majorette, and Lasell Junior College. In 1945, she married her high school sweetheart Don Shaw. Together they raised three daughters in Princeton, NJ. They retired to Sarasota, FL in 1989, and after Don's passing in 2007, Ruth settled at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA. While living in Princeton, Ruth enjoyed playing golf with Don and their wide circle of friends at Springdale Golf Club. Ruth enjoyed the ever-present challenge of improving her game, the friendly competition, and most of all the fun-loving and lively group of dear friends with whom she bonded over the years. Everywhere she lived, Ruth also befriended her neighbors, who became life-long friends. Ruth had a good sense of humor and an active mind. She enjoyed a variety of activities including Shakespeare class, Bible study, and excursions to museums and concerts. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ. Ruth is pre-deceased by her husband Don, and sister Dorothy Hawley. She is survived by daughters Nancy Norland (husband Rick) of Titusville, Susan Shaw of Novato, CA, and Sandy Shaw of Hailey, ID, and two grandsons, Mike Norland of San Francisco, CA and Sam Strong of Hailey, ID.
