John A. DeLucia Sr.

TRENTON -- John A. DeLucia Sr., 89, died Tuesday at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident.
He was a civil engineer at General Motors Overseas Operations, New York City, before retiring in 1974 after 35 years of service.
He was the current president of St. Vincent DePaul Society, Mercer County Chapter, and a lifelong member of St. Joachim's Church and its senior citizen club. He was a member of St. Raphael's senior citizens club, Hamilton, and a member and former treasurer of Mount Carmel Guild, Trenton.
Son of the late Michael and Amalia Petrolini DeLucia, brother of the late Peter A. and Anthony J. DeLucia and Anna DeLucia, he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth C. Facenda DeLucia; a son, John A. DeLucia of New York City; a daughter, Elizabeth A. DeLucia of Lakewood; a niece, Shirley Pagnani; and two grandnephews, Anthony and Mark DeLucia.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brenna Funeral Home, 340 Hamilton Ave.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, 19 Bayard St.
Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Madonna Mausoleum, Hamilton.
Calling hours will be 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joachim's Catholic Church, 19 Bayard St., Trenton, N.J. 08611.

Charles T. Cannon
11/11/99
TRENTON -- Charles T. Cannon, 73, died Tuesday at Chandler Hall Hospice Unit, Newtown, Pa.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident.
He retired after working at the Capitol complex as part of the state's maintenance department. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 3rd Infantry in Europe.
Son of the late James and Edna Riley Cannon, husband of the late Stella Kokotajlo Cannon and brother of the late Frances Morris, Charlotte and James Cannon, he is survived by a sister, Seretta Gaudette of Green Valley, Ariz.; a brother, Roy of Burlington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be 10 a.m Saturday at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., with the Rev. Robert Tynski officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton.
Calling hours will be 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Sadie Van Aken
11/11/99
MOORESTOWN -- Sadie Collins Van Aken, 104, died Monday at Lutheran Homes.
Born in South Brunswick, she was a longtime resident and had lived in Hightstown.
She attended high school in Jamesburg. She ran a farm with her husband in Middlesex County and later ran a boarding house and day-care center in Hightstown, where she cared for at least 12 children.
She enjoyed playing the piano and taking weekend trips to the Poconos.
Wife of the late John Van Aken and mother of the late Billy and Mary Van Aken, she is survived by two sons, John Van Aken of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Henry Bryan of Philadelphia; four daughters and a son-in-law, Melvina Deuel of Palm Harbor, Fla., Grace Owen of Morehead City, N.C., Kathryn Van Aken of Cape Carteret, N.C., and Elva and Reginald Ely of Morehead City; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Cranbury.
Private burial will be at a later date.

Aleksander Surowka
11/12/99
TRENTON -- Aleksander M. Surowka, 25, died Monday in Chicago.
Born in Rzeszow, Poland, he immigrated to the United States in 1990 settling in Trenton.
He was a Trenton area construction worker.
Son of the late Danuta Rzucidlo Surowka and grandson of the late Jozef and Apolonia Grobelna Surowka, he is survived by his father, Michal Surowka of Trenton; four brothers, Bartlomiej of Trenton and Maciej, Piotr and Jozef, all of Rzeszow; his maternal grandparents, Wladyslaw and Zofia Rzucidlo Owczarsky of Rzeszow; an aunt and two uncles, Leonora and Edward Doroba of Lawrenceville and Kazimierz Surowka of Trenton; and three cousins, Joanna Doroba of Lawrenceville, Mariusz Surowka of Trenton and Pawel Surowka of Warsaw, Poland.
Funeral will be 8:30 a.m. Monday from Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave.
Funeral Liturgy will be 9:30 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, 872 Brunswick Ave.
Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Beauford Reed Smith
11/12/99
APOPKA, Fla. -- Beauford Reed Smith, 77, died Wednesday.
Born in Pineville, Ky., he lived in Trenton before moving to Florida in 1998.
He retired in 1985 after 32 years as a planner with U.S. Steel, Trenton.
Mr. Smith was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.
He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Ewing, N.J., and Masonic Lodge 50 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; a son, Don of Apopka; seven sisters, Louise Kelly, Joy Birch, Mary Sue Locke and Marilyn Smith, all of Kentucky, Gloria Irby of Alabama, Marjorie Grout of Tennessee and Jenny Ruth Jewel of Florida; four brothers, Buddy of Virginia, Brian of Michigan, Bruce of Florida and David of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Adrienne Smith, Fred Langan and Heather Holman; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail Langan and Michelle Holman.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 601 N. Park Ave.

Lawrence L. Quinn
11/12/99
TRENTON -- Lawrence L. "Larry" Quinn, 72, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Son of the late John and Mary Agnes Kerrigan Quinn and brother of the late Jack Quinn, he is survived by his wife, Kate Keating Quinn; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lydia Quinn of Ewing; two daughters, Colleen Quinn of Lawrenceville and Brigid Vogel of Trenton; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Charlotte Quinn of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Nellie Quinn of Bristol, Pa.; six grandchildren, Nikki, Scott and Matthew Quinn and Vanessa, A.J. and Alex Vogel; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday at Mullen Funeral Home, 537 S. Olden Ave.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Monsignor Sean Flynn officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, N.J. 08053.

Genevive Perrine Pennett
11/12/99
EDGEWATER PARK -- Genevive Perrine Pennett, 94, died Wednesday at Rancocas Hospital, Willingboro.
Born in Sutton, W.Va., she lived in Edgewater Park many years.
She retired after 15 years as a telephone operator at Fort Dix and worked at McGuire Air Force Base five years.
She served in the 57th Women's Army Corps Hospital Co. during World War II.
She attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Burlington Township, and was a member of Courtright American Legion Post, Beverly. She enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Mario Pennett; a brother, Stanley Perrine of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at McGee Funeral Home, 869 Beverly Road, Burlington Township.
Entombment will be in Odd Fellows Mausoleum, Burlington Township.
Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until service Monday at the funeral home.
